[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Carolina Hurricanes (10-2-0) meet the Colorado Avalanche (6-8-0) Saturday at Ball Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Hurricanes vs. Avalanche odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Tied 1-1 in 2023-24

The Hurricanes steam into the Mile High with 8 consecutive victories, outscoring the opposition 38-17. The winning ways have been mostly behind G Pyotr Kochetkov, as G Frederik Andersen is sidelined yet again due to injury. For Carolina, C Martin Necas has been blistering hot, going for 6 goals and 18 points with a plus-11 rating in the 8-game winning streak.

The Avalanche haven’t been doing nearly as well. They’re coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss against the Winnipeg Jets on the road, and Colorado has dropped 4 of the past 5 outings, scoring 2 or fewer goals in each of those losses. Still, the Over is 5-1 in the past 6 games, with Colorado goalies allowed 4 or more goals in 4 of the outings.

Hurricanes at Avalanche projected goalies

Pyotr Kochetkov (7-1-0, 2.51 GAA, .896 SV%) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (1-5-0, 4.05 GAA, .847 SV%)

Kochetkov has won 6 consecutive starts since Oct. 24 in Calgary, with his only loss coming Oct. 19 in St. Louis when he allowed 4 goals on just 19 shots. He was super in Thursday’s 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, allowing just a single goal on 36 shots.

For Georgiev, he was much better last time out. He allowed just a single goal on 28 shots in the 1-0 setback in Winnipeg. Before that, the Bulgarian netminder had allowed at least 3 goals in each of his first 6 appearances.

Hurricanes at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 4, Avalanche 2

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (-130) are an attractive play on the road as moderate favorites. Carolina has been playing at a high level, and until somebody shuts down its offense, you have to keep rolling with the Canes.

The Avalanche (+110) would normally be a slam-dunk play, especially as short ‘dogs at home, but something is just missing this season. Namely, it’s been good goaltending, which has been few and far between.

Puck line/Against the spread

If you’re a little more adventurous, forget about the moneyline and go with HURRICANES -1.5 (+185) for the chance to nearly double up.

During Carolina’s 8-game winning streak it has won by 2 or more goals in 4 straight outings, and 6 of the past 7 contests.

On the flip side, the Avalanche +1.5 (-225) have lost by 2 or more goals in 3 of the past 5 outings.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-105) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at best.

With Georgiev, going Under is a risky play, but he did look pretty sharp in Winnipeg against an equally hot Jets team. Hopefully he can carry over the momentum to this one.

The Under is 2-1 in the past 3 games for Carolina and 7-4-1 in 12 games this season. On the road, the Under is 4-2 on the season, including a 3-1 mark in the previous 4 skates away from home.

Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Carolina Hurricanes (3-2-0) and Colorado Avalanche (4-0-0) meet Saturday at Ball Arena in Denver. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Hurricanes vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Hurricanes are reeling after a 7-3 loss Thursday against the Seattle Kraken, a team that previously had scored just 3 total goals in the first 4 games. Carolina is averaging 4.8 goals per game (GPG) through 5 games, while allowing 4.8 GPG. It’s no surprise the Over is a perfect 5-0 so far.

The Avalanche are coming off a 4-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Thursday, and they’re a perfect 4-0, while allowing a total of just 4 goals to date. The Under has cashed in 3 in a row.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Hurricanes at Avalanche projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (2-0-0, 4.14 GAA, .855 SV%) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (4-0-0, 0.98 GAA, .965 SV%, 1 SO)

Andersen exited Tuesday’s game in San Jose after taking a shot to the face mask, and he missed Thursday’s contest. He might be able to return, but if he is still dealing with cobwebs, it will again be Antti Raanta (1-1-0, 4.41 GAA, .818 SV%).

Georgiev is coming off his 1st shutout of the season and the 13th of his NHL career in 183 starts. The 27-year-old Bulgarian-born netminder didn’t face the Hurricanes last season.

Hurricanes at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Hurricanes 2

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-145) are a decent play at this number. The Hurricanes (+120) limp into town for their 5th contest of a 6-game road trip, and they looked awfully tired in Seattle Thursday night.

The Hurricanes are 1-4 in the past 5 meetings overall, while going just 3-12 in the past 15 trips to Denver, too. The home team has won 16 of the past 23 meetings in the series.

Puck line/Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+170) is worth a roll of the dice. As a favorite, Colorado has cashed on the puck line in 3 of its 4 victories so far this season, with the lone exception a 2-1 shootout win in San Jose on Oct. 14.

This is the first time the Hurricanes +1.5 (-200) have been an underdog this season.

Over/Under

The OVER 6 (-120) is worth a look in this one, despite the fact the Avalanche have completely shut everyone down to date. Colorado’s Georgiev has allowed just 4 goals in 4 games, but the Carolina offense is averaging 4.8 GPG. Something’s gotta give, and it’s likely it’s the Hurricanes allowing plenty, while getting at least 2 off of the Avs goalie.

Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes (9-4-1) and Colorado Avalanche (7-4-1) meet at Ball Arena in Denver Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Hurricanes vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Hurricanes are coming off an impressive 7-2 rout of the visiting Edmonton Oilers Thursday at PNC Arena, as LW Andrei Svechnikov recorded a hat trick with his 98th, 99th and 100th NHL goals.

The Avalanche racked up a 5-3 win over the visiting Nashville Predators Thursday, and they have now won 3 in a row while scoring 4 or more goals in each of the previous 4 outings.

Hurricanes at Avalanche projected goalies

Antti Raanta (3-1-1, 2.36 GAA, .915 SV%) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (7-1-1, 2.66 GAA, .924 SV%)

Raanta stood on his head at the Florida Panthers Wednesday in a 3-0 loss, and it would have been worse if not for his exploits. He stopped all but 2 of the 36 shots he faced, but obviously, he received zero offensive support. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in all 5 of his starts to date, including 4 outings on the road.

Third-stringer G Pyotr Kochetkov was sensational against the Oilers Thursday, with G Frederik Andersen nursing a neck injury. Andersen is unlikely to be ready to play in Denver, a place he suffered what ended up being a season-ending lower-body injury last April.

Georgiev has won 3 straight starts in November, allowing 3 or fewer goals in each contest. He is 3-0-0 with a 2.34 GAA and .923 SV% in 2 starts against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Tampere, Finland, and the most recent showing against the Preds at Ball Arena.

Hurricanes at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Hurricanes 1

Moneyline

The AVALANCHE (-130) have revved up the offense lately after a slow start, averaging 5.0 goals per game (GPG) across the past 4 outings. However, they’ll get a much better test from the Hurricanes, a team they’ll meet twice in the next 7 days.

Puck line/Against the spread

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+190) are worth a play at this price, although it might take a late empty-net goal to get over the hump.

It’s been feast or famine for the Hurricanes lately, as Carolina was blanked in Florida, then came home on the second end of a back-to-back to drop 7 on the Oilers. It has 4 or more goals in 7 of its 14 games this season, but Carolina will likely have some trouble solving Georgiev here.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-115) is worth a roll of the dice here.

It’s a little scary to consider, given that Carolina lit the lamp 7 times last time out, while Colorado has 20 goals scored across its past 4 outings. However, while the offenses have been flying high, the goaltenders and defenses for each side have been on fire lately, too. In this marquee matchup, expect to see a much cleaner game in the back end.

Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Carolina Hurricanes (48-19-8) travel to meet the Colorado Avalanche (54-14-6) at Ball Arena Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Hurricanes vs. Avalanche odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Hurricanes were humbled 3-0 at home Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings and former backstop Alex Nedeljkovic, snapping a two-game win streak.

The Avalanche have picked up at least one point in each of the past 10 games, going 9-0-1. Colorado has won four straight games against Eastern Conference opponents since a 2-0 loss at Carolina in the first meeting March 10.

Hurricanes at Avalanche odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Hurricanes +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Avalanche -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Hurricanes +1.5 (-230) | Avalanche -1.5 (+170)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +112 | U: -140)

Hurricanes at Avalanche projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (35-13-3, 2.07 GAA, .926 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Darcy Kuemper (35-9-3, 2.38 GAA, .926 SV%, 5 SO)

Andersen has won each of his past two starts, allowing 4 total goals on 55 shots. The offense has managed just 13 total goals across his past five outings. He will make his first start against the Avalanche after backup G Antti Raanta posted a shutout in the first meeting.

Kuemper has won five straight starts in regulation since his last setback March 27 at the Minnesota Wild. He is 4-0-0 with a 2.46 GAA and .940 SV% through four April starts.

[tipico]

Hurricanes at Avalanche odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Hurricanes 2

Money line

The AVALANCHE (-135) are a solid value on home ice in this battle of teams with triple-digit points. Colorado was dropped 2-0 on the road in the first meeting in March. Look for the Avs to pay back the Canes, who have dropped four of their last seven games.

Colorado has rattled off 50 victories in its last 59 games at home while going an impressive 48-13 in its last 61 when favored.

Against the spread

The Hurricanes +1.5 (-230) will cost you nearly two and a half times your potential return for a little insurance, and that’s risky business. If you like Carolina, just take them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-140) is the best play on the board here. We had just 2 total goals in the first meeting, and none until the third period.

The Under is 17-7-3 in the past 27 games as underdogs for the Hurricanes, while the Under is 6-2 in the past eight home games for the Avalanche and 11-5 in their last 16 games overall.
