Now that’s more like it.
After getting bounced in the first game of the 2020 TBT, the Ohio State alumni team, Carmen’s Crew, responded nicely in the 2021 edition and took care of business against Mid-American Unity in round one by a score of 77-65.
David Lighty led Carmen’s Crew with 19 points, with big-man Kosta Koufos chipping in 16 in the winning effort. William Buford also went for a double-double in a very underrated effort.
It wasn’t easy though. The two teams went toe-to-toe throughout the first half and actually went to the half tied 37-37. It was the third quarter though when Carmen’s Crew provided some separation and was able to pull away in the fourth quarter for the victory.
The team will now advance to the second round where it will take on the Men of Mackey, the Purdue alumni squad, on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. on ESPN. That one should be a hoot.
