Deshaun Thomas to join Carmen’s Crew for TBT

Former Ohio State forward DeShaun Thomas will be joining Ohio State’s alumni team, Carmen’s Crew, for a run at the TBT title.

This team just seems to be getting better. After taking home The Basketball Tournament title last summer with a core nucleus of Ohio State alumni like Jon Diebler, David Lighty, Aaron Craft, and William Buford, Carmen’s Crew is adding to the talented roster in an attempt to repeat.

According to an announcement on Twitter, former Ohio State forward Dehhaun Thomas will also be joining the squad for another run in the winner-take-all tournament that will take place solely at Nationwide Arena this year. Carmen’s Crew has already secured the overall No. 1 seed and will begin its defense of the title somewhere between July 6 and 9 (TBD).

It will be a trimmed down 24-team tournament held at just one sight because of measures to try and mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thomas has most recently spent his time in Greece playing for Panathinaikos in Athens in 2019. He was a key member of the squad that won the Greek Basketball Cup and Greek Basketball Championship, averaging 13.3 points and 4.7 rebounds last season.

With Thomas’ edition, Carmen’s Crew now officially has seven former Buckeyes on a team that has ten confirmed players. In addition to him, Craft, Lighty, Buford, and Diebler, the team also has Lenzelle Smith, Jr., and Dallas Lauderdale.

The Basketball Tournament is all set to be played July 4 through 14th.
