Cardinals release first depth chart of season

There are no surprises.

The Arizona Cardinals, now with a 53-man roster, have released their first depth chart of the regular season. There are no real surprises on it.

The guys expected to start are starters. Then there are as-expected backups.

Let’s have a look at their Week 1 depth chart.

  • Kyler Murray
  • Clayton Tune

Running back

  • James Conner
  • Trey Benson
  • Emari Demercado
  • DeeJay Dallas

This is the same order it was in the preseason.

Wide receiver

‘X’ receiver

  • Marvin Harrison Jr.
  • Chris Moore

‘Z’ receiver

  • Michael Wilson
  • Zach Pascal

Slot receiver

  • Greg Dortch
  • Xavier Weaver

This is as expected and perhaps is an accurate rotation.

Tight end

  • Trey McBride
  • Elijah Higgins
  • Tip Reiman
  • Travis Vokolek

We will see if Vokolek is active for game days.

Offensive line

Left tackle

  • Paris Johnson

  • Evan Brown
  • Isaiah Adams

Center

  • Hjalte Froholdt
  • Jon Gaines

Lopez and Tonga are more natural nose tackles. They other guys will play multiple positions.

2 Cardinals rookies injured to start Week 1 practices

The Arizona Cardinals had an extra practice on Monday in Week 1. Two rookies did not practice.

The Arizona Cardinals held a bonus practice on Monday, kicking off Week 1. There is no official injury report until Wednesday afternoon, though. head coach Jonathan Gannon noted a pair of rookies who would not practice on Monday.

Gannon said that rookie tight end Tip Reiman would miss Monday’s practice but should be ready on Wednesday. His injury is unknown.

Rookie Xavier Weaver has an oblique injury. He also would sit out Monday.

The Cardinals are off on Tuesday and then will practice Wednesday through Friday with official injury reports.

We will see what their practice status is on Wednesday, if they are limited at all to start the week.

Cardinals set to face NFL’s most overrated and biggest trash-talking QB in Week 1

Anonymous NFL players voted Buffalo’s Josh Allen as the NFL’s most overrated quarterback and also the biggest trash talker.

Who doesn’t love anonymous NFL player opinions? They are always fun, especially when it comes to what they think of other players. ESPN had 100 NFL players do some quarterback rankings and it included ranking the best quarterbacks, the most overrated, the most underrated, the rookie who will have the best career and more.

Guess what? The Arizona Cardinals will face both the league’s biggest trash-talking quarterback and the most overrated quarterback in the NFL in their season opener when they face the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 1.

NFL players voted Josh Allen both the most overrated quarterback in the league and the biggest trash talker.

A player in the NFC West (could it have been a Cardinals player?) said Allen turns the ball over too much.

Allen got 11 votes, edging out Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts and Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, both of whom got 10 votes.

Allen only accounted for 44 touchdowns in 2023, passing for 29 and rushing for 15.

That’s crazy. Many argued he should have been the league MVP last season.

And maybe all those touchdowns are why he talks trash.

He led with 26 votes for biggest trash talker, which blew away second-place vote-getter Baker Mayfield, who got 17.

A player noted that Allen will run a player over and then talk trash to the guy he runs over.

The Cardinals will be the first team to potentially make him look overrated.

We will see.
