Jaguars make Tramaine Brock signing official, announce other roster moves

The Jags have officially signed veteran cornerback Tramaine Brock who will bring over a decade of experience to the team.

After bringing him in for a visit, the Jacksonville Jaguars have made the signing of veteran cornerback Tramaine Brock official. Additionally, the team announced that they waived rookie cornerback Kobe Williams, would be bringing defensive tackle Carl Davis back, and the signing of Caraun Reid (see details here).

Brock is a player who has a connection with Jags director of player personnel,Ā Trent Baalke, who was in the San Fransisco 49ers’ front office when Brock played for the team. He’ll bring in over a decade worth of experience to a Jags young cornerback group that is spearheaded with Tre Herndon and rookie C.J. Henderson, who most believe could be the starting duo in the regular season.

Brock has been a journeyman player in the league making notable stops with theĀ Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals to name a few. He’ll enter the 2020 season with 56 starts, 262 total tackles, and 11 picks on his career.

Davis is a player who entered this offseason on the Jags’ roster, but they released him on May 12. However, with them losing defensive tackle Al Woods, who opted out due to concerns for the coronavirus, and Dontavius Russell and Brian Price to injured reserve, the team seemingly wanted to add a familiar face. Before he was released, he had been with the Jags since November of 2019, playing in two games and registering a tackle.

As for Williams, he was one of the more intriguing undrafted rookie free-agent signings of April’s draft. With respectable coverage grades coming out of Arizona State, some thought he could compete for a spot on the back end of the roster but Brock’s signing gave them a comfortable number at corner.

The following roster moves now puts the Jags at 80 players, a number they had until Aug. 16 to get to.

Report: Jags sign veteran DL Caraun Reid

The Jags had to place two defensive lineman on injured reserve Sunday which sent them into the free-agent market to sign DL Caraun Reid.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ front office has been a busy one Sunday as they had to place two players on injured reserve in defensive tackles Dontavius Russell (hip) and Brian Price (knee). To fill one of the spots left by the two, the team wasted no time heading into the free-agent market, and perĀ Priority Sports agent Mike McCartney, the team signed a client of his in defensive endĀ Caraun Reid.

Reid’s addition also comes after the Jags lost defensive lineman Lerentee McCray and Al Woods, who opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns for the coronavirus.

Reid, 28, entered the league in 2014 as a fifth-round draft choice (No. 158 overall) for the Detroit Lions out of Princeton. After spending two seasons there, he’s bounced around the league, playing for the San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Dallas Cowboys to name a few.

At 6-foot-2, 292-pounds, the Jags will likely look to kick Reid inside to defensive tackle. There he will join a group that includes veteran Abry Jones, third-year player Taven Bryan, and rookie DaVon Hamilton amongst notables.

Reid has participated in 47 total games since entering the NFL and has started in 16 games. He’ll enter 2020 with 50 career tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks on his career.

4 changes to Cardinals’ depth chart in Week 15

KeeSean Johnson has fallen in recent weeks and Haason Reddick has a position change.

The Arizona Cardinals released their latest depth chart for Week 15. It features a few changes. Some are because of injuries. Others are because of position changes and others have to be about performance.

What are the changes?

Caraun Reid to the starting lineup

Perhaps it is because he is a veteran player, but re-signed on Tuesday, Reid is listed as a starter. Rodney Gunter was placed on injured reserve. The backups are rookies Michael Dogbe and Miles Brown. Reid has yet to play a game for the Cardinals and he is listed as a starter.

Rodney Gunter placed on IR; Cardinals re-sign DL Caraun Reid

Gunter is the fourth defensive lineman to end up on IR for the Cardinals this season.

The Arizona Cardinals have suffered another hit to their defensive line. Rodney Gunter, who injured his ankle on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Gunter, who will be a free agent after the season, finishes the year with 31 total tackles, nine of which were for a loss, three sacks and 10 quarterback hits.

He joins fellow defensive linemen Zach Allen, Jonathan Bullard and Clinton McDonald on injured reserve.

With his loss, the starting defensive line will now likely be Corey Peters, Zach Kerr and Miles Brown or Michael Dogbe. That is a much different starting lineup than the one projected to be Gunter, Peters and Darius Philon.

To replace him on the roster, the Cardinals re-signed defensive lineman Caraun Reid. Reid was signed last week and released on Saturday when there were questions about the depth at cornerback.

Before initially signing with the team last week, Reid had not been in the league this year. This is his sixth NFL season and he has played for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. He has played in 44 career games, starting 13. He has 46 career tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two fumbles recoveries, both of which he returned for touchdowns.

Cardinals sign DL Caraun Reid, promote Kylie Fitts, Tanner Vallejo to active roster

The Cardinals also released Pete Robertson.

The Arizona Cardinals made some roster moves Wednesday as they began the week of practice in Week 14. They had two open roster spots after waiving cornerback Tramaine Brock and running back Zach Zenner on Monday. They added a third vacancy by releasing linebacker Pete Robertson, who spent most of the season on the practice squad and promoted in November.

To fill those vacancies, they promoted two from the practice squad and signed a veteran.

They signed veteran defensive lineman Caraun Reid, as Jonathan Bullard is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.

Reid has not been in the league this year. It is his sixth NFL season and he has played for the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. He has played in 44 career games, starting 13. He has 46 career tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two fumbles recoveries, both of which he returned for touchdowns.

The Cardinals promoted linebackers Tanner Vallejo and Kylie Fitts from the practice squad to the active roster.

Vallejo was signed to the practice squad last month after he was released by the Washington Redskins. He played nine games for them after he was released after the preseason by the Cardinals. He plays inside linebacker.

Fitts has been on the practice squad all season. He was a sixth-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2018 and played in seven games as a rookie. He is a 6-4, 260-pound outside linebacker.

Report: Texans work out journeyman DL Caraun Reid

The Houston Texans worked out journeyman defensive lineman Caraun Reid on Monday, giving him a physical after.

With the bye week over with, the Houston Texans are molding their roster for the stretch run. On Monday, they worked out defensive lineman Caraun Reid, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Reid, 27, last played with professional football with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2018, the 6-2, 292-pound lineman tallied 10 combined tackles, a half-sack, a tackle for loss and three QB hits in 10 games, one start, for the Cowboys.

Reid was a Detroit Lions fifth-round selection out of Princeton in 2014. He spent two seasons in Michigan ā€” starting 12 games in the second ā€” before waiving him in the preseason. The then-San Diego Chargers claimed him, only to see him play seven games before tearing his ACL.

The Lions claimed Reid off of waivers after the 2017 preseason. From there, he spent short visits with the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts before landing in Arlington. The Cowboys released him on Sept. 1, leading the Colts to sign him and waive him two months later.
