Where Georgia QB Carson Beck’s 2025 NFL Draft stock stands ahead of Week 6

Carson Beck’s 2025 NFL Draft stock shouldn’t take a huge hit, even following the disappointing loss to Alabama.

Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday when they fell 41-34 to the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road.

The performance marked the worst this season so far for Beck, who came into the year largely considered to be the best quarterback, and perhaps even the best prospect, in the nation.

Despite the three interceptions, though, Beck actually finished out with an otherwise admirable stat line, completing 27 of his 50 passing attempts fort 439 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

He impressed particularly with the way he was able to help the offense pick things back up after trailing 30-7 at the half.

If anything, that might have been what caught the attention of scouts more than some of the ill-advised decisions he did make.

“What he did from first half to second half was really impressive because with what happened to him in the first half, there’s not many people that can overcome that,” an NFL scouting source told CBS Sports in a recent report from the network. “It’s hard. He looked much looser in the second half. He gave his players a chance to make plays. So if anything, he helped himself because you’re going to make mistakes in the NFL.

“You’re going to have a bad quarter. You’re going to have a bad half. But are you going to let it turn into a bad game? The snowball effect can’t happen at quarterback. It’s got to be stopped at some point. He did a good job of that. He nipped it in the bud and turned things around.”

One question that now remains is as to whether or not Beck’s draft stock should take a large plunge from top dog after a performance that featured some of the mistakes that this one did, and in reality, it’s way too early to tell.

For now, there’s still plenty to like about Beck’s performance as a quarterback, what he brings to the table from a tangibles and an intangibles perspective, and the resiliency he’s shown.

The rest of the season will tell the story of whether Alabama may truly be the best team in the nation, making it the toughest opponent for all of CFB to go up against, and if those interceptions said more about Beck or the Alabama defense that has shown improvement in its secondary in a big way here.

Beck’s road to the draft will continue Saturday as the team faces the visiting Auburn Tigers in Sanford Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET.

4-star PF Cam Ward reportedly on official visit to Michigan State

One of the top power forwards in the 2025 class is reportedly on an official visit to Michigan State

One of the top power forwards in the 2025 class is reportedly on an official visit to Michigan State.

Dushawn London of 247Sports reported on Thursday evening that four-star power forward Cam Ward is “currently” on an official visit to Michigan State. Ward is from Upper Marlboro, Md. and is strongly considering Michigan State.

Ward ranks as the No. 11 power forward in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 50 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the class.

Michigan State is one of the top contenders for Ward’s commitment, according to 247Sports. Other programs still in the running includes Maryland, Florida State, Marquette, Notre Dame and Kansas State.

Ward is expected to announce his college decision on October 30.

Cam Ward: Breaking down his topsy-turvy night against Virginia Tech

Cam Ward: Breaking down the Miami QB’s topsy-turvy night against Virginia Tech

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward had one heck of an interesting Friday night in Miami’s matchup against Virginia Tech. Ward gave something to both his draft advocates and his detractors in the Hurricanes’ controversially exciting win.

Ward looked sharp and poised early, picking apart the Hokies’ solid secondary–which features two top-150 prospects–with crisp passes and good command of the pocket. His touch on downfield, outside throws to TE Elijah Arroyo and WR Isaiah Horton was picture perfect. A touchdown strike to Jacolby George perfectly threaded the needle. This is a Sunday throw:

However, Ward had some real issues in this game as well. Miami’s first drive ended on a strip-sack where Ward smartly climbed the pocket but then attempted some sort of body heave throw that wound up with the ball in Virginia Tech’s possession. Ward also threw two interceptions, one in the red zone after a costly holding penalty moved the Hurricanes back from the goal line.

This is not a Sunday throw…

Then there’s perhaps the most polarizing play. How you view this likely depends on your prism of perception on playmaking.

Some, notably Patrick Mahomes, see greatness in this play. I can’t help but see some of Will Levis throwing away a Titans win over the Bears in Week 1 here. It’s a fine line between risk vs. reward, and that line gets finer at the next level:

https://twitter.com/espn/status/1839867782294356383

For the game, Ward finished 24-of-38 for 343 yards with four touchdowns, two interceptions and the lost fumble. He also ran 10 times for 57 yards and a key touchdown.

Who will be the first QB selected in the 2025 NFL draft

Cast your vote and tell us which quarterback is coming off the board first in the 2025 NFL draft.

We are a full month into the college football season and we are starting to get a much better idea of who the top quarterbacks are in the country. It also gives us a better understanding of who the top quarterbacks are in the 2025 NFL draft.

Right now we have three quarterbacks with a first-round grade and the differences between them in terms of grades are relatively small. Georiga’s Carson Beck has been most pundits’ quarterback No. 1 coming into the season, and he remains there.

Along with Beck, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders is the most polarizing player in this entire draft. I struggle to see Sanders as a franchise quarterback but it only takes one team to fall for his arm talent and use a top pick in him.

Our dark horse quarterback to crack the first round and potentially overtake both of them is Miami’s Cam Ward. He’s been the most impressive signal caller in the country.

There is also a nice group of guys outside of the Big Three including Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart.

Cast your vote and let us know who you think the top quarterback will be in the 2025 NFL draft.

Cam Ward honored as ACC quarterback of the week after Week 4

See who took home ACC Player of the Week honors in an exciting Week 4 of college football action.

Week 4 of the college football season saw quite a bit of chaos in the ACC. North Carolina gave up 70 points to James Madison in a loss, Virginia Tech fell to Rutgers, Stanford and SMU each picked up big wins, while Florida State finally got into the win column by taking down Cal.

However, the team at the top of the standings, Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes, remains untouched thanks to another elite performance from veteran quarterback Cam Ward.

Ward threw for 404 passing yards and three touchdowns in Miami’s 50-15 win on the road at South Florida on Saturday, earning him ACC Quarterback of the Week by the conference as voted on by a select media panel.

Ward has now thrown for over 300 yards in all four games this season, putting him squarely in the conversation to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy Award if he and the ‘Canes can keep this up.

Below is a look at the other ACC Players of the Week, starting on the offensive side of the ball:

Offensive Players of the Week

Running Back – Brashard Smith, SMU

Smith totaled 190 all-purpose yards during SMU’s 66 point offensive explosion against in-state rival TCU. Smith also had a career-high four touchdowns – the most for an SMU player since receiver Courtland Sutton did it against North Texas in 2017. Smith has now totaled over 100 all-purpose yards in each of SMU’s games this season.

Receiver – Lewis Bond, Boston College

Bond hauled in a 42-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter to put away Michigan State and secure a nice win for the Eagles against a Big Ten opponent. Bond finished the game with six catches and 102 receiving yards, his second career 100-yard game.

Offensive Lineman – Noah Josey, LG, Virginia

Virginia ran all over Coastal Carolina in Week 4, totaling a whopping 384 rushing yards thanks in large part to the work of left guard Noah Josey. Josey played every offensive snap and had the third-highest pass blocking grade (86.2) of any guard in the country at Pro Football Focus.

Specialist – Emmet Kenney, K, Stanford

Hard to go with anyone other than Kenney here, who booted a game-winning 39-yard field goal to pick up Stanford’s first ACC victory on the road at Syracuse. Kenney also set his personal record with a 51-yard field goal earlier in the game, and is now a perfect 8-for-8 on the year.

Defensive Players of the Week

Defensive Lineman – Patrick Payton, Florida State

Payton racked up a trio of sacks for FSU in the team’s first victory of the season over Cal, all which came in a decisive second half. Payton had two of his sacks on fourth down, one which led to a missed field goal for the Golden Bears.

Linebacker – David Bailey, Stanford

Bailey had a pair of sacks for the Cardinal against the Orange on Friday. It was Bailey’s second career multi-sack game and first of the season. Bailey had four total tackles and a forced fumble in the game as his strong season continues.

Defensive Back – Ahmaad Moses, SMU

Moses had a pass breakup and four tackles in SMU’s win over TCU, but his big impact was a pair of interceptions including one which he took 60 yards to the house for a touchdown.

Browns projected to replace Deshaun Watson in new 2025 NFL mock draft

Could the Browns really use their first top-32 pick in three years on another quarterback?

In one of their first mock drafts, after the regular season has kicked off, The Draft Network has made a bold prediction for the Cleveland Browns. The mock draft currently has the Browns selecting Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the sixteenth overall pick to replace current quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Cam Ward is currently on a tear to begin his Miami career and is considered the NCAA’s best passer in the season’s first three weeks.

The display Deshaun Watson has presented on the field so far has failed to show promise despite his decent record as a starter. He currently has fifteen touchdowns and eleven interceptions in his three years as a Cleveland Brown. This has led to many questions about when the Browns will hit the reset button on the quarterback position.

If a player as talented as Cam Ward is available at such a great value, it would be hard for Andrew Berry to let him pass.

Miami QB Cam Ward making strong case to be QB1 in 2025 NFL draft

Cam Ward has been the best quarterback in college football through three weeks.

The quarterback class of the 2025 NFL draft is wide open through three weeks of the college football season. No quarterback has set themselves apart so far and more quarterbacks have lost ground as opposed to boosted it. Guys like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Texas A&M’s Connor Weigman have both taken a serious step back after looking like the top two quarterbacks.

One guy who is making a very strong case to work his way into the QB1 spot is Miami’s Cam Ward. Ward has been unstoppable so far this season and of the top quarterbacks in the country, throws the best deep ball. Ward is also a solid athlete and can beat defenses with his feet if necessary.

On Saturday against Ball State, Ward three for 345 yards and five touchdowns in just one drive over a half of play. This gives Ward 1,035 passing yards and 12 total touchdowns through three games.

There are going to be plenty of quarterback-needy teams when the draft rolls around and if Ward can continue to improve, he will push Carson Beck for the top quarterback as long as he can hold off Alabama signal caller Jalen Milroe who is our other big riser through three weeks.

Steelers land offensive playmaker in new 2025 mock draft

Wide receiver and quarterback are the offensive positions to watch this offseason for the Steelers.

In Week One, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens caught six passes on seven targets. No other Steelers wide receiver caught more than one pass. This is not what anyone envisioned with the new Arthur Smith offense.

So as we look ahead to the offseason, adding another playmaker at wide receiver has to be a high priority. In the latest 2025 NFL mock draft over at The Draft Network, they took this approach for Pittsburgh with their first-round pick.

They opted for Missouri wide receiver to the Steelers as the third receiver off the board at the No. 14 overall pick. Here’s what they had to say about the selection:

The Steelers’ quarterback situation has stolen the headlines the entire offseason, but the one position that I believe needs to be highlighted is the receiver position. Yes, the Steelers have talent, but is it to the standard that the Steelers usually have? With this pick, they draft Luther Burden III, a slot-dominant player who can move to a different alignment and should be a great complementary piece to George Pickens and a healthy Roman Wilson.

A small run on quarterbacks is a big reason why Burden lands with the Steelers. If the first round plays out like this, the temptation would be there to roll the dice on Miami quarterback Cam Ward but we are good with the safer option in Burden.
