The #Falcons have released WR Cameron Batson from the practice squad following his arrest over the weekend

The Atlanta Falcons have released practice squad wide receiver Cameron Batson following his arrest over the weekend. Batson was charged with a number of different crimes, including aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.

The 27-year-old former Tennessee Titans receiver has spent the entire 2022 season on the Falcons’ practice squad. Head coach Arthur Smith said releasing Batson was in the best interest of the team, per ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.

“We’ll always do what we think is in the best interest of the team,” said Smith. “There’s an ongoing legal situation and I’m not privy to all the facts.”

The Falcons will likely add someone to the practice squad this week to fill Batson’s spot. Check out the team’s updated 53-man roster and 16-man practice squad entering Week 18.

Falcons to sign former Titans WR Cameron Batson

The Falcons have signed former Titans WR/kick returner Cameron Batson, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Atlanta Falcons have added another former Tennessee Titans player, signing wide receiver Cameron Batson on Wednesday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The 26-year-old suffered an ACL injury back in October, prematurely ending his 2021 campaign.

Batson gives the team more depth at slot receiver and in the kick/punt return game. The former Titan reunites with Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, continuing a trend of Atlanta poaching players from Tennessee and Chicago.

For his career, Batson has 22 catches for 197 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He has averaged 19.4 yards per kick return since 2018, while adding seven carries for 36 rushing yards.
