2025 4-star safety narrows list to 10 schools

One of the top safeties in the 2025 recruiting class has narrowed his final list of schools down to 10 schools, and LSU made the cut.

One of the top safeties in the 2025 recruiting class, [autotag]Jadyn Hudson[/autotag], has narrowed his final list of schools down to ten schools. LSU made the list.

The Tigers join Michigan, Oregon, USC, Washington, Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee, Ohio State and Miami as the final ten still in the hunt to land Hudson.

Hudson is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound, four-star safety from Pittsburgh, California, where he plays for Pittsburg High School. The Pittsburg Pirates (not the MLB team) are off to a 2-0 start to the 2023 season after getting two big wins.

There are currently no crystal ball projections at this time for Hudson but the USC Trojans are a 31% favorite to land him per On3. LSU currently has four commitments for the 2025 class and the class is ranked as the No. 5 class in the country. The class is led by five-star wide receiver [autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag] from Duncanville, Texas.

Hudson would be a great addition to the class.

Tigers make the cut for 4-star California shooting guard

Mikey Lewis will take an official visit to LSU on Sept. 23.

LSU coach Matt McMahon is still looking to land his first pledge in the 2024 recruiting class, but the Tigers are in contention for several top prospects.

One of them — four-star Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep shooting guard [autotag]Mikey Lewis[/autotag] — has trimmed his list down to six schools, and LSU made the cut. Joining the Tigers in Lewis’ top six are Saint Mary’s, Illinois, Kansas, Ole Miss and San Diego State.

He’s already taken one official visit already with the Gaels, and he has trips set with the Fighting Illini and Tigers on Sept. 16 and 23, respectively. Saint Mary’s leads the way on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, though the gap has narrowed with Illinois and LSU closing in.

The Tigers will have to wait a bit to get him on campus, but they’ll hope to make that trip worthwhile with the No. 62 player in the 2024 class.

Top-100 LSU basketball target close to setting visit schedule

Matt McMahon is still looking for his first commitment in the 2024 class.

LSU men’s basketball coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] is still looking for the first commitment in the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class, but the staff is in the mix for a number of talented players.

One of those is Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep combo guard [autotag]Mikey Lewis[/autotag]. He ranks as the No. 61 player nationally in the 2024 class, and though he hasn’t started taking official visits yet, he told On3 that he is close.

According to Lewis, the schools that have been recruiting him the hardest in addition to LSU are Illinois, San Diego State, Syracuse and St. Mary’s. He also recently picked up offers from Washington, Ole Miss and Kansas.

Lewis praised McMahon to On3 and said that his development of now-Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant gives LSU a lot of credibility.

In-state St. Mary’s is the heavy favorite here per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but the Tigers will hope to get him on campus and make up some ground before he makes a decision.

LSU offers 4-star shooting guard from Riverside, California

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Brayden Burries, but Loyola Marymount is a 20% favorite to land him per On3.

[autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] and his recruiting staff have made a trip out west to California to check out one of the best shooting guards in the class of 2025.

[autotag]Brayden Burries[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound, 4-star shooting guard from Riverside, California, where he plays for Eleanor Roosevelt High School. The Eleanor Roosevelt Mustangs finished their 2022 season 23-7 with a loss to Heritage Christian in the playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Burries, but Loyola Marymount is a 20% favorite to land him per On3.

LSU currently does not have any commits for the 2025 recruiting class but they have offered seven shooting guards.

Elite quarterback hopes to visit LSU in the spring

LSU already has a QB commitment in Colin Hurley, but it has remained in contact with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei quarterback Elijah Brown.

LSU already has a blue-chip quarterback committed in the 2024 cycle in Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian prospect [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag].

Still, that doesn’t mean the program can’t do its due diligence with other prospects at the position, and one player who the staff has remained in contact with is four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei signal-caller [autotag]Elijah Brown[/autotag].

A four-star prospect who ranks as the No. 45 player nationally per On3 and No. 54 per the 247Sports Composite, Brown plans to trim down his list of schools after a busy spring visit schedule. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, LSU is one of the programs he wants to visit.

Brown said that Arizona State, UCLA, Oregon and USC are the schools communicating with him most in addition to the Tigers. He has no Crystal Ball projections, but the Ducks are the favorite to land him, per On3.

LSU isn’t the only program Brown is looking at with a quarterback commitment in 2024, and he said he isn’t shying away from potential competition. The Tigers will hope to host him this spring and see if they can pull him away from the west coast teams.

4-star cornerback, potential LSU target decommits from USC

After nearly a year pledge to the Trojans, Aaron Butler has re-opened his recruitment. LSU is one of several schools now in the mix.

The Tigers could be one of several teams who plan to throw their hat in the ring for [autotag]Aaron Butler[/autotag].

The four-star cornerback from Calabasas, California, spent nearly a year committed to the USC Trojans after pledging last January, but he reopened his recruitment on Wednesday. Butler told On3 that USC had a successful season but he needed to take a step back and re-evaluate his future.

With Butler — who is rated as the No. 65 player in the country in 2024 on the 247Sports Composite and cracks the top 100 on the On3 Consensus Rankings — reopening his recruitment, he told On3 that the Tigers could be a team to watch.

“Schools like Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee are up there,” he added. “These schools are doing a great job with me and making me feel like a priority. LSU is another one, and Oregon has picked it up, too. They are on me hard. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Texas A&M are three more showing me a lot of interest. … When I committed to USC early on, I didn’t have the knowledge about everything that I have now. I am looking at this decision differently.”

LSU’s staff offered Butler back in March while he was still committed to the Trojans. The Tigers hope to get one of his official visits this summer. Butler told On3 he plans to wrap up his visit schedule in June and announce a commitment on his birthday, July 22.

The 2024 recruiting cycle is off to a good start for LSU, whose class currently ranks No. 2 nationally with eight commits already. The Tigers already have two four-star cornerbacks committed in [autotag]Zion Ferguson[/autotag] and [autotag]Wallace Foster[/autotag].

LSU cracks the top 10 for California receiver prospect

LSU will look to add Ryan Pellum to a 2024 class that currently ranks No. 1.

[autotag]Ryan Pellum[/autotag] is a 2024, 5-foot-11, 170-pound, four-star wide receiver from Long Beach, California, where he plays for Millikan High School.

Pellum recently released his top ten heading into 2023. The LSU Tigers made the cut along with Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Georgia, UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee and Penn State. There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Pellum on 247Sports, but Oregon is a 20% favorite to land the talented receiver on On3.

LSU currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the class of 2024 with eight commitments, including one wide receiver in [autotag]Joseph Stone[/autotag] from Langston Hughes (Ga.).

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has done an incredible job recruiting on the Bayou as he has landed back-to-back top-ten recruiting classes. The 2024 class is well on its way to going down as another top-ten class and possibly even better than that.

Pellum will be a name to keep an eye on moving forward to see if Kelly can pull Pellum out of California.

LSU offers top 100 small forward from California

The Tigers offered top Zion Sensley, a 2024 prospect from Napa, California.

[autotag]Zion Sensley[/autotag] is a 2024, four-star, 6-foot-8, 195-pound, small forward from Napa, California, where he plays for Prolific Prep. The Prolific Prep Christian Crew are off to as hot of a start to their 2022 campaign as [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] and the LSU Tigers.

The Crew are 6-0 to start the season and have scored over 100 points in four out of six games. This comes as no surprise to a lot of people, as Maxpreps rated Prolific Prep as the No. 6 high school basketball team in the country back in October.

LSU doesn’t have any commitments for the 2024 recruiting class, but the new head coach, McMahon is just getting started with everything.

Five-star point guard set to decide between LSU, several others

Woodland Hills, California, prospect AJ Johnson will announce his commitment Monday. He has visited LSU and Texas.

The Tigers have a pair of basketball commits in the 2023 class in forward [autotag]Corey Chest[/autotag] and guard [autotag]Mike Williams[/autotag], but they will hope to add an elite player to that group.

Five-star point guard [autotag]AJ Johnson[/autotag] is set to announce his decision on Monday at noon CT. Johnson is a 6-foot-5, 170-pound player from Southern California Acadamey in Woodland Hills, California, and he ranks as the No. 14 player on the 247Sports Composite.

On3’s composite rankings list him at No. 16 nationally.

A combo guard who primarily plays the point, Johnson has already taken official visits to Texas and LSU, and he has also received interest from programs such as NC State, Louisville and USC. The Longhorns are currently seen as a heavy favorite, being given a 93.2% chance to land him.

Coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] signed the No. 16 recruiting class in the country last cycle. His haul in 2023 currently ranks just 45th, but adding a player like Johnson could certainly change that.
