Calgary Stampeders at Ottawa Redblacks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Calgary Stampeders at Ottawa Redblacks Week 8 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Calgary Stampeders (3-3) and Ottawa Redblacks (4-2) meet at TD Place Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Redblacks odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Stampeders are coming off a 25-24 win as 4.5-point underdogs against the BC Lions Sunday with the Under (53.5) hitting. QB Jake Maier threw for 307 yards and 3 TDs for Calgary, which has covered 4 straight games.

The Redblacks are coming off back-to-back wins over the Edmonton Elks. The most recent victory was a 20-14 cover as 1-point home favorites July 19 as the Under (52) cashed. Just 5 days after throwing for 480 yards and 2 TDs, QB Dru Brown was 22-of-33 for 257 yards and a pair of 1st-half interceptions.

These teams split 2 meetings last season, with the straight-up winner covering each contest and the Over/Under (O/U) going 1-1.

In their most recent meeting July 23, 2023, the Redblacks won 43-41 in OT as 4.5-point road underdogs as the Over (44.5) easily hit. QB Dustin Crum threw for 257 yards and 2 TDs on 23-of-29 passing (Brown had not yet been traded to Ottawa).

Stampeders at Redblacks picks and predictions

Prediction

Redblacks 32, Stampeders 22

Moneyline

The REDBLACKS (+100) look like a new team with Brown as the starter this season, especially since they finished just 4-14 last year. Ottawa has allowed 25 or fewer points in 4 of its 6 games, and winning July 19 in a good revenge spot for Edmonton shouldn’t be overlooked.

The Stampeders are 0-2 this season after a win, losing by an average margin of 6.5 points per game. While that is a small sample size, this is a team that won back-to-back games just once all last season (in Weeks 19 and 20) and may be overvalued by the market after covering 4 straight.

BET REDBLACKS (+100).

Against the spread

Ottawa +1.5 (-105) should hit, but getting even money to bet the Redblacks straight up is preferred with such a small spread.

PASS. Bet the ML and/or total instead.

Over/Under

The Stampeders are 2-0 to the Over in their last 2 road games, allowing 30 or more points in both outings. Calgary has given up an average of 34.5 points over its last 4 away games, dating back to last year’s playoffs, with the O/U going 3-1 over that span.

LEAN OVER 51.5 (-110).

Lions at Stampeders picks and predictions

Prediction

Lions 34, Stampeders 28

Moneyline

The Lions lead the CFL in scoring, averaging 30.3 points per game. They have put up 79 in their last 2 games while the Stampeders have allowed 71 points in their last 2 games.

The Lions have beaten the Stampeders in 5 of their last 6 meetings and should get their 6th straight win, but don’t bet the moneyline at -205, lacking the value you want in a wager.

PASS.

Against the spread

In their 5 straight wins, the Lions have covered the spread in 4 of them. They have won their last 2 games each by 15 or more. They have covered the spread in their last 7 wins over Calgary.

Calgary has covered the spread in 4 of their 5 games this season. Their only ATS loss was to BC.

BET LIONS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Their 1st meeting had a total of 43 points, but both teams’ last 2 games have all had totals of at least 55 points.

Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers Week 6 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Calgary Stampeders (2-2) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-4) meet at Princess Auto Stadium Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Stampeders are coming off a cover as 7.5-point underdogs in a 30-26 loss at the Montreal Alouettes Saturday with the Over (49.5) hitting. QB Jake Maier threw for 106 yards and a TD on 18-of-28 passing for Calgary, which led by as many as 14 points in the 2nd half.

The Blue Bombers covered as 3-point home favorites with a 25-16 win over the Ottawa Redblacks July 5 as the Under (45) cashed. QB Zach Collaros (thorax) didn’t dress for Winnipeg’s 1st win of the season, but is listed as Friday’s starter.

In a June 29 meeting, the Stampeders beat Winnipeg 22-19 in OT as 3.5-point underdogs as the Under (45) hit in Calgary. Collaros was forced to leave the game in the 1st half after appearing to take a hit from Stampeders DT Josiah Coatney.

Stampeders at Blue Bombers picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 25, Stampeders 19

Moneyline

The Blue Bombers (-225) are coming off a revenge win at home against the Redblacks July 5 and should get another against the Stampeders Friday. However, it’s hard to beat CFL long term betting into lines with so much vig.

PASS. Lay the points and/or bet the total instead.

Against the spread

Winnipeg looks like its ready to start turning around its season after getting its 1st win in Week 5. The Blue Bombers have been to 4 straight Grey Cups, and despite starting 1-4, still have the 5th-best odds to win it all (+1000 at BetMGM Sportsbook).

Oliveira is questionable, but was a full participant in practice Tuesday and Wednesday. Last season’s CFL rushing champ played a huge part in the Week 5 win, gaining a season-high 166 yards from scrimmage. Oliveira seems to be returning to form, which should make Winnipeg even more dangerous.

The Stampeders were also somewhat lucky to win by 3 points in the June 29 meeting since Collaros wasn’t available in the 2nd half. With Collaros expected to play the full game and Winnipeg likely hitting a turning point in its season, BET BLUE BOMBERS -4.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Under is 5-0 in Blue Bombers games this season and has hit in 2 of the last 3 for the Stampeders. The Blue Bombers defense has allowed an average of just 16 points per game over the last 4 meetings between these teams, with the Under going 3-1 over that span.

BET UNDER 47.5 (-105).

Calgary Stampeders at Montreal Alouettes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Calgary Stampeders at Montreal Alouettes Week 5 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Calgary Stampeders (2-1) and Montreal Alouettes (4-0) meet Saturday. Kickoff from Percival Molson Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Alouettes odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

Calgary is 2-0 at home and 0-1 on the road. It is coming off a 22-19 OT win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as 3.5-point home underdogs June 29 with the Under (48) cashing in.

Montreal has begun its championship defense with 4 straight wins, playing 3 on the road. The Als are coming off a 30-20 road win over the Toronto Argonauts June 28, covering the 3-point spread as favorites. The Under (50.5) cashed in.

The Alouettes will be without DL Shawn Lemon, whose indefinite suspension for gambling on sports was reinstated Thursday. The former Stampeder has registered 6 tackles and a sack on the season.

Stampeders at Alouettes picks and predictions

Prediction

Alouettes 31, Stampeders 20

Moneyline

The Alouettes, dating back to last season, have won 12 straight games. They are 4-0 and have only played 1 home game.

The Stampeders lost their only road game of the season and have not scored more than 22 after a season-opening 32 points, while the Als average 31.8 points per game.

The Als should get the win, but don’t bet them at -490.

PASS.

Against the spread

Three of Montreal’s wins this season have been by at least 10 points. Opponents have not scored more than 21 this season.

Calgary did not cover the spread in their 1 loss this season.

BET ALOUETTES -9.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Between the 2 teams, 5 of their 7 games have stayed under the projected total.

But Montreal keeps up its scoring pace. If the Stamps reach 20 points, that will be enough.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Calgary Stampeders odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Calgary Stampeders Week 4 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-3) and the Calgary Stampeders (1-1) meet Saturday for a Week 4 battle at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBSSN/TSN/CFL+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blue Bombers vs. Stampeders odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Blue Bombers are off to a dreadful start, losing all 3 games, although the past 2 setbacks have been by a combined 6 points. Still, Winnipeg is also 0-3 against the spread (ATS), while the Under has cashed in all 3 outings.

The Bombers rank last in the CFL in total yards (325.7), passing yards (247.0) and points scored (18.3) per game.

The Stampeders posted a 32-24 win over Hamilton in Week 1 as 1-point favorites with the Over (44.5) easily cashing. In Week 2, the Stamps fell 26-17 on the road against the BC Lions, narrowly missing a cover as 8-point underdogs as the Under (51) hit. Calgary was on a bye in Week 3.

Blue Bombers at Stampeders picks and predictions

Prediction

Stampeders 26, Blue Bombers 20

Moneyline

CALGARY (-175) is worth a look on the moneyline if you want some action on the game, but you’d prefer not to fiddle around with the points.

The Stamps are a concern on defense, however, ranking last in total yards per game (415.0) and rushing yards (120.5) per game allowed.

Winnipeg (+145) can’t be trusted, however, as it has found ways to lose the close games so far this season.

Against the spread

CALGARY -3 (-120) is a little cheaper laying the points. However, be careful, as Winnipeg has lost the past 2 games by a total of just 6 points.

The Blue Bombers have won 6 in a row in this series, and 9 of the past 10 outright, while holding a slight 6-4 ATS edge in the span dating back to Oct. 25, 2019.

Over/Under

UNDER 47.5 (-115) is worth a look, especially since the Blue Bombers have cashed low on the total in all 3 outings to date.

While the Stamps have had a ton of trouble defensively, they had 2 full weeks to prepare for this game after a bye in Week 3. Expect a much better defensive effort, especially at home, from the Stamps.

Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions Week 2 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Calgary Stampeders (1-0) and the BC Lions (0-1) meet Saturday in a Week 2 battle at BC Place. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Lions odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Stampeders picked up a 32-24 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a 1-point favorites as the Over (44.5) easily cashed in the opener at McMahon Stadium.

The Ti-Cats actually had 28 first downs to just 20 for the Stamps in Week 1, while Hamilton outgained Calgary at a 468-to-369 clip. However, Calgary was plus-1 in turnovers, and it had a 30:53 time of possession mark to 28:30 for Hamilton.

Calgary QB Jake Maier was very efficient, completing 21-of-26 passes for 252 yards with 2 TDs and 0 picks, while RB Dedrick Mills was good for 87 rushing yards to give the Stamps a balanced offensive attack.

The BC Lions went on the road to face a Toronto Argonauts team which was believed to be in disarray. But it was the Lions who lost a messy 35-27 decision Sunday. Now, they come back on short rest. BC outgained Toronto at a 423-to-374 clip in total yards, but the Lions turned it over 5 times to just once for the Argonauts. BC never got into the red zone, either, while going 0-for-3 in 3rd-down efficiency.

These teams met 3 times in the regular season, and once in the playoffs. BC won 2 of 3 meetings in the regular season, with the Lions going 2-1 against the spread (ATS). BC also won 41-30 as a 7-point favorite in the first round of the playoffs as the Over (50) cashed.

Stampeders at Lions picks and predictions

Prediction

Lions 29, Stampeders 23

Moneyline

The Lions (-400) return for their team opener, and you cannot risk 4 times your potential return. The Lions were super sloppy in a loss against a shaky Toronto team last weekend.

On the flip side, the Stampeders (+310) got the job done in Week 1. While it’s tempting to play Calgary straight up to multiply up by more than 3 times, this is a team which won just once in 4 tries against BC.

PASS.

Against the spread

The STAMPEDERS +8.5 (-115) are a strong play catching the points.

While it’s hard to believe the Lions won’t clean things up after turning it over 5 times in Week 1, it’s also hard to forget about that stat. BC was sloppy in a game it should have been able to win. Now, the Lions return on a short week after playing Sunday. So, have they had enough time to get it all right?

Over/Under

OVER 50.5 (-110) is a solid play in this Week 2 battle between West Division rivals.

The Over cashed in the final 2 meetings last season, and the winning team scored 37 or more points in each of the past 3 battles. The Over is also 6-3-1 in the past 10 meetings in this series.

The Stamps rolled up 32 points last week, while allowing 24 points, too, easily cashing the Over. In Week 1, BC allowed 35 points, and the Over hit in its opener, too. Go high, and don’t look back.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Calgary Stampeders odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Calgary Stampeders Week 1 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Calgary Stampeders open their CFL regular seasons Friday night at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Tiger-Cats vs. Stampeders odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Tiger-Cats picked up a 22-15 win as 1.5-point favorites as the Under (48.5) cashed in their only regular-season meeting vs. the Stampeders last season.

QB Bo Levi Mitchell begins his 2nd season in The Hammer, and the veteran looks to help the team improve upon a so-so 8-9 straight-up (SU) record. He was limited to just 6 games due to injury. When he did play, he completed just 59.1% of his passes for 1,031 yards, 6 TDs and 10 INTs. The Ti-Cats will likely lean upon WR Tim White for big things again in 2024.

The Stampeders had an awful season by their standards, going just 6-12 SU and 9-9 ATS in the regular season. They’d love to toss a monkey wrench into Mitchell’s plans for a resurgence. He starred for the Stamps from 2012-22.

Tiger-Cats at Stampeders picks and predictions

Prediction

Tiger-Cats 25, Stampeders 19

Moneyline

The Tiger-Cats (-115) are worth a look on the road as Mitchell heads to Calgary with an axe to grind. Hamilton had a poor season, although it did qualify for the postseason in 2023. However, after an injury-marred season, one which saw Mitchell limited to just 6 games, Hamilton looks to get off to a quick start.

The Stampeders (-105) also made the postseason despite a losing record. They struggled to get much going, and they’ll have a tough time getting off to a big start with Williams sidelined. Mitchell should be able to hook up with White for a big start.

PASS.

Against the spread

The TIGER-CATS -1.5 (-105) are cheaper laying the little bit of points on the road. Hamilton won the only meeting last season and had the better year, if only by a little bit.

The Stampeders can’t be trusted, at least not yet. Let’s wait to see if QB Jake Maier is a little more consistent before backing Calgary. Plus, we’ll need to see how RB Dedrick Mills performs as he replaced departed RB Ka’Deem Carey.

Over/Under

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is the lean in this Week 1 battle, but go with a half-unit play at best.

Maier and the Calgary offense struggled with consistency in 2023, and the Stamps cashed the Under at a 10-7-1 pace including the postseason loss.

The Ti-Cats closed out the season on a 4-2 run to the Under, including the Week 17 meeting with the Stamps.

Blue Bombers at Stampeders picks and predictions

Prediction

Blue Bombers 28, Stampeders 20

Moneyline

Winnipeg is already 2-0 against Calgary this season with 24-11 home win and a 19-18 win in Calgary.

The Blue Bombers only have 2 losses in their last 10 games. The Stamps have won 2 in a row, but lost 6 of 7 prior to that.

Winnipeg has scored 30 or more points in 3 straight games and in 6 of their last 7.

Betting the Blue Bombers on the moneyline isn’t bad at -135 but with only a 2.5-point spread at -110, that is the better play.

PASS.

Against the spread

Winnipeg is 10-7 ATS this season, while Calgary is 9-8 ATS.

Only the Blue Bombers’ road win over Calgary was by less than 8 points while  4 of the Stamps’ last 6 losses have been by at least 3 points.

BET BLUE BOMBERS -2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over has hit in 12 of Winnipeg’s 17 games this season. The Over is 7-0 in its last 7 games and 9-1 in its last 10.

BET OVER 46.5 (-110).

Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions Week 20 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Calgary Stampeders (5-11) and BC Lions (12-5) meet Friday at BC Place. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Stampeders vs. Lions odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Stampeders covered the spread as 3.5-point home favorites with a 26-19 win last Friday vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders as the Under (48.5) cashed. Calgary can secure a spot in the postseason with a win Friday, coupled with a Roughriders loss vs. the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.

The Lions failed to cover as 3.5-point favorites in a 33-30 win at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the Over (50) hit last Friday. If BC wins Friday — and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers lose straight up as 11.5-point favorites vs. the Edmonton Elks Saturday — it will still have a shot at hosting the Western Final.

BC is 2-0 straight up and against the spread (ATS) vs. Calgary this year, and the Under has gone 1-0-1 in those meetings.

Stampeders at Lions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stampeders 23, Lions 22

Moneyline

I question BC’s focus in this game, especially after Adams Jr. sustained a knee injury late in the 4th quarter at Hamilton last time out. Winnipeg has a less than 18% chance of losing to Edmonton Saturday, and a Blue Bombers loss still wouldn’t guarantee the Lions home field in the Western Final.

What we do know is that the Stampeders will be as focused as possible Friday in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. Calgary is in a must-win game to make the postseason, while the Lions are rolling out Adams Jr. fresh off a knee injury in an unlikely attempt to host the Western Final.

SPRINKLE on STAMPEDERS (+330).

Against the spread

Taking the points is the safer option in this game, especially since the Lions have no motivation to win by margin. They won the 1st 2 meetings this season by double digits and will need to protect Adams Jr. from reinjuring his knee. While I like Calgary’s odds to win straight up at +330, it is more probable that it keeps this game close and falls short at the end.

BET STAMPEDERS +8.5 (-110).

FOOTBALL NEVER STOPS

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 4 straight Stampeders games.

The Under has also gone 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings between these teams. Calgary will be as focused as possible to win and make the playoffs for an 18th straight season, and its defense should help the Under hit vs. Adams Jr. off a knee injury.

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Calgary Stampeders odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Saskatchewan Roughriders at Calgary Stampeders Week 19 odds and lines, with expert CFL picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-10) and Calgary Stampeders (4-11) meet Friday at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (CFL+/TSN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Roughriders vs. Stampeders odds, and make our expert CFL picks and predictions.

The Roughriders failed to cover the spread as 3-point home favorites in a 38-13 loss Saturday vs. the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the Over (48.5) cashed. Saskatchewan has lost 5 straight games.

The Stampeders are also coming off an against the spread (ATS) loss last time out vs. the Tiger-Cats. Calgary closed as a 1.5-point road underdog in a 22-15 loss as the Under (48.5) hit Sep. 30 before the Stampeders’ Week 18 bye. Calgary has lost 3 straight and has failed to cover in back-to-back games.

These teams have split their 2 meetings this season. The Roughriders covered as 2-point road underdogs in a 29-26 overtime win June 24 as the Over (45.5) cashed, and the Stampeders covered as 1-point road favorites with a 33-31 win July 15 as the Over (43.5) hit.

Roughriders at Stampeders picks and predictions

Prediction

Stampeders 34, Roughriders 18

Moneyline

The Stampeders (-185) are coming off a bye week and are in a must-win spot to keep their playoff hopes alive. Calgary ML should hit, but there’s no need to pay the higher price on the moneyline when the Stampeders should win by margin.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or the total instead.

Against the spread

The Roughriders are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and needed 2 TDs in the final 2 minutes to cover as 10-point underdogs in a 33-26 loss at the BC Lions on Sep. 29. Saskatchewan can clinch the last available playoff spot with a win Friday, but it has shown over its last 5 outings that it struggles to even keep games close.

Before failing to cover in their last 2 games, the Stampeders were on a 4-game ATS win streak. I trust Calgary to bounce back in a must-win game and defeat the struggling Roughriders by more than a field goal in front of its home crowd.

BET STAMPEDERS -3.5 (-110).

FOOTBALL NEVER STOPS

Over/Under

The Over has hit in Saskatchewan’s last 9 games, and the Roughriders’ defense has given up an average of 35.3 points per game over that stretch.

The Over has also hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these teams.

BET OVER 48.5 (-110).
