Texas football lands commitment from 2025 three-star cornerback

Three-star Texas native CB Caleb Chester announces commitment to the Longhorns

After finishing No. 6 in the 2024 recruiting team rankings with one five-star and 16 four-stars, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns will look to crack into the top five recruiting rankings next season.

So far, the Longhorns have gotten out to a quick jump in the 2025 class as they are currently ranked No. 12 with seven four-stars and three three-stars already committed. Tuesday, Texas picked up their fourth three-star commitment as they landed CB Caleb Chester out of Missouri City, Texas.

Chester chose the Tide over the likes of Arkansas, Florida State, Texas A&M, and others, but Sarkisian’s staff was always fairly confident in the commitment. Texas has added a few defensive line pieces in the class, but Chester will be the first piece of the secondary they add.

At 6’2″ and 175 pounds there is a lot to love about Chester’s frame as a corner, but I am sure the Texas staff will try to get about 15-20 pounds on him before he even steps foot on campus.

Florida offers Lone Star State CB, among top schools considered

This coveted Texas product is high on the Orange and Blue after receiving a scholarship offer.

Billy Napier and Co. have been putting out their feelers into one of the biggest reservoirs of high school football talent of late, sending out dozens of offers to Texas products in recent days.

Among those with a potential scholarship extended is three-star cornerback [autotag]Caleb Chester[/autotag] out of Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall, who is an up-and-coming talent in the 2025 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-2-inch, 175-pound defender hails from the same school as former Gators defensive back Avery Helm, who is now with the TCU Horned Frogs.

The high school junior made 21 tackles while breaking up eight passes in 13 targeted throws in 2023. Chester will have a chance to build on those numbers this coming fall to help boost his stock.

The Lone Star State product has already caught the attention of a handful of major college football programs, including the Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks, among others. Despite the thick competition, the Orange and Blue seem to have a decent shot.

“I’ll most definitely say (the Gators) are top 10 for sure,” Chester told Swamp Online. However, the program would greatly benefit from a visit as familiarity between the two parties appears to be pretty low.

“I know the environment gets real crazy in the Swamp and that a former player from my school played for the Gators,” he noted. “I don’t really know too much about (Florida) to be honest.”

Chester is ranked No. 541 overall and No. 53 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the Rivals has him at No. 37 at his position and No. 80 in the state of Texas. Both On3 and Rivals strongly favor the Longhorns to acquire his talents.
