Watch: Talking C.J. Carr, Notre Dame recruiting, and 2022 Irish outlook

What record do you think Notre Dame puts up in 2022?

When I sat down to talk about Notre Dame’s most recent quarterback commitment in [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] with Mark Rogers on Friday afternoon I knew something might happen in regards to Notre Dame recruiting at some point, but I wasn’t sure exactly how soon.

Well, it turns out it took less than the hour from our quick discussion drawing to a close that Mark already had things turned around and posted and in that small window Notre Dame received it’s 15th commitment in the 2023 recruiting class in offensive lineman Elijah Paige.

Still, the discussion was fun, featured a few unnecessary jabs at Michigan (kidding, all jabs at Michigan are of course necessary), and some discussion on Notre Dame’s opener at Ohio State as well as the 2022 season as a whole.  Check out the full episode below and click on Mark’s information to see more of the college football content he provides nationally all year round!

Notre Dame Twitter reacts to C.J. Carr commitment

How did you react to the news?

We don’t know what career [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] will have at Notre Dame. For all we know, he’ll turn out to be the biggest quarterback bust in program history. At the moment, this is terrific news for the program. Everyone is so confident in him that [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag] showed up during his announcement and flat-out told him to break every program record he currently has.

With such a big commitment to the Irish, it was expected that members of the fandom would take to Twitter to express their delight. Some were simply giddy, and others were analytical. Even [autotag]Tommy Rees[/autotag], Carr’s future offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach had to pile onto the celebration.

All anyone knows is Carr’s first game wearing the blue and gold can’t come soon enough. Yeah, we’ll have to wait a little longer for it, but good things come to those who wait, right? In the meantime, let’s see what Notre Dame Twitter hasd to say about this news:

Is today the day for Notre Dame to land a five-star quarterback?

Hard to imagine Notre Dame isn’t The Victor in this commitment announcement…

Things seemed to develop very quickly in Notre Dame’s recruitment of five-star 2024 quarterback [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] over the last week as after camping in South Bend over the weekend, Carr stated Monday that he’d be announcing his college commitment on Thursday night.

Well, we’ve reached Thursday and all signs remain to Carr making a verbal commitment to Notre Dame official at 7 p.m. ET when his announcement will be made on CBS Sports HQ.

It’s been well-discussed that Carr is the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr who guided the Wolverines to a split national championship in 1997.

Carr has already stated that he’s looking forward to helping recruit to whichever school he ultimately announces but by the looks of things (check out the looks between him and Marcus Freeman below) it would appear that Notre Dame will be adding a five-star quarterback to their 2024 commitment list early Thursday evening who would be the third-highest ranked quarterback to commit to the Irish since 2000.

Notre Dame to soon land five-star quarterback?

Come on down!

Is Notre Dame about to land a commitment from a five-star quarterback that calls the state of Michigan home?

As the college football world awaits a [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] decision that Notre Dame is clearly in on, the Irish may be getting some very good news in regards to the 2024 recruiting class this week.  Five-star quarterback [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] of Saline, Mich. just camped at Notre Dame for the Irish Invasion this past weekend and has now announced he’ll be making his college commitment this Thursday.

“I’m excited to get this out there and start recruiting for that school” is what Carr told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

Carr is the grandson of former Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr.  Connecting of the dots following his recent Notre Dame visit should have Irish fans optimistic about where he chooses to play college football.
