Mock trade sees Bulls land Nets guard Ben Simmons

A recent mock trade sees the Chicago Bulls flip Zach LaVine for Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons.

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly determined to find a trade for Zach LaVine this summer. They want to move on from the LaVine era in Chicago. Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report recently mocked up a deal that would send LaVine to the Brooklyn Nets for Ben Simmons, a 2027 first-round pick (via PHI; top-8 protected), and a 2027 first-round pick (via PHX; lottery protected).

“Chicago can onboard his expiring $40.3 million contract with a couple of protected picks attached and bask in its newfound optionality,” Hughes wrote. “This assumes the Bulls will also deal away Nikola Vučević, Alex Caruso and anything else that isn’t bolted down or named Coby White.

“Brooklyn could even flip LaVine next year or the one after to recoup the picks it spent to dump Simmons, and everyone leaves the exchange satisfied.”

Simmons hasn’t been a consistent player in years, but if it means the Bulls can get off of LaVine’s contract, it could be worth making the deal.

Mitchell Robinson listed as potential Chicago Bulls trade target

Should the Chicago Bulls consider making a trade for Mitchell Robinson this summer?

The Chicago Bulls are likely going to look to retool their roster this summer, adding depth at every position and pushing themselves forward. Zach Bucklet of Bleacher Report suggested New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson as a potential trade target for Chicago this summer.

“With off-the-dribble scoring threats like Coby White and DeMar DeRozan (assuming he’s re-signed), the Bulls could get a ton of mileage out of a dynamic pick-and-roll screener like Mitchell Robinson,” Buckley wrote. “There’s at least a chance he’ll be available this offseason, too. If the New York Knicks cough up the coin needed to re-sign Isaiah Hartenstein, they might need to find a way to unload Robinson and the $27.2 million he’s owed over the next two seasons, per Spotrac.

“Ideally, Chicago would find a way to bring a third team into the fold, so it could route Nikola Vučević elsewhere and replace him with Robinson. The Bulls would sacrifice some scoring in the process, but they’d become more dynamic at—and especially above—the rim. Chicago might have to part with some draft considerations in the deal, but it shouldn’t take a premier pick. Not when Robinson is finding it increasingly difficult to stay on the floor, having just undergone his second surgical procedure on his left ankle this season, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. There is some risk with Robinson’s health woes, obviously, but the reward could be substantial.”

The Knicks just wrapped up an impressive season, and Robinson was hurt at the end of it. Nabbing him as center depth would give the Bulls a nice boost.

Coby White listed as Chicago Bulls’ most untouchable trade asset

Coby White is the closest thing to an untouchable asset that the Chicago Bulls have.

The Chicago Bulls just wrapped up their second straight losing season, but there were some highlights. Coby White just had a breakout season for the Bulls, finishing second in Most Improved Player voting. According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, White is Chicago’s most untouchable trade asset.

The 2023-24 NBA campaign was mostly a season to forget for the Bulls, but Coby White’s emergence ensured it wasn’t a total waste,” Buckley wrote. “The Most Improved Player award runner-up was no less than phenomenal during his fifth season. His stat sheet essentially featured one personal best after the next, including 19.1 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 three-pointers. Speaking of that line, want to know how many players matched or exceeded those marks? Seven across the entire Association.”

“You could make the case that the 24-year-old is already the Bulls’ best player—especially with DeMar DeRozan entering free agency—and he’d certainly be front and center of a rebuild should the front office ever lean that direction. The list of players Chicago would give up White to get can’t be long, and it might be exclusively populated with names who won’t come anywhere near this summer’s trade block.”

White just re-signed with the Bulls last summer on a very team-friendly contract, and the 24-year-old looks to be a guy Chicago can build around.

Sacramento Kings listed as ‘worst fit’ for potential Zach LaVine trade

Would the Sacramento Kings be a good fit for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine?

Everything coming to the surface as of late is pointing toward the Chicago Bulls trading Zach LaVine this summer. They are reportedly looking to do everything they can to move him this offseason. According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Sacramento Kings would be the “worst fit” for LaVine.

“Every season seems to spawn at least a few head-scratching rumors, and some mid-November rumblings about potential interest from Sacramento in LaVine certainly qualified,” Buckley wrote. “The Kings had a general need for more talent, sure, but any appeal beyond that was hard to see. Would they add LaVine and bump him atop the offensive pecking order over De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis? If that feels like an obvious “nope,” that’s because it is. LaVine is way too much of a defensive liability, way too expensive and too ball-dominant to utilize as a No. 3—or, depending on Keegan Murray’s development, maybe No. 4—next to Sacramento’s stars.

“If the Kings hope to climb the Western Conference standings, they need defense and an upgrade on the wing. LaVine would weaken them on both fronts. His defense is a mess (negative defensive box plus/minus in all 10 seasons), and his arrival might force the sacrifice of Harrison Barnes (and quite possibly prevent the re-signing of Malik Monk).”

The Kings could put together a solid package for LaVine, but would he be a good fit there?

Should the Chicago Bulls trade Nikola Vucevic this summer?

Should the Chicago Bulls be looking to trade Nikola Vucevic this offseason?

The Chicago Bulls assembled their current core three years ago, but they don’t have much to show for it. In theory, this was their way to get out of their rebuild, and while they technically accomplished that, they entered a constant cycle of mediocrity. That’s almost worse than a rebuild.

Now, it looks like they are going to be doing everything they can to trade Zach LaVine this summer. Plus, they have a tough decision to make with DeMar DeRozan, who will be a free agent this summer. And that just leaves big man Nikola Vucevic, who the Bulls just extended last offseason.

The CHGO Sports YouTube channel recently discussed whether or not the Bulls can trade Vucevic this offseason or if they are stuck with him.

Trading LaVine and Vucevic this summer would be a great way for the Bulls to hit the reset button with Coby White at the center of it.

Charlotte Hornets floated as potential Zach LaVine trade destination

Should the Charlotte Hornets trade for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine this offseason?

As the Chicago Bulls look to trade Zach LaVine this summer, it’s unclear how many teams will want to give up real assets for him. However, there will undoubtedly be some teams that show interest. Aaron Kellerstrass of Pippen Ain’t Easy suggested some potential destinations, listing the Charlotte Hornets as one of them.

“Like the Pistons, the Hornets are terrible and need to do something to excite fans who have nine toes out the door,” Kellerstrass wrote. “Like the Bulls, the Hornets will be hoping for a comeback from a Ball and would love to put another star around LaMelo and Brandon Miller.

“The Hornets are an interesting possibility, as they have moveable contracts in Davis Bertans and Grant Williams and a potential salary slot for LaVine depending on what they do with Miles Bridges. The Bulls should be looking to avoid any long-term money unless they are getting back someone who can actually play, and Bertans would at least be one expiring deal.”

Putting LaVine next to LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and the rest of the Hornets’ core could definitely improve the ceiling of Charlotte’s team.

Orlando Magic listed as ‘best fit’ for potential Zach LaVine trade

Could the Orlando Magic be a potential Chicago Bulls trade partner for Zach LaVine?

The Chicago Bulls are supposedly focused on finding a trade for Zach LaVine this summer. It’s their top priority. While exploring potential moves for LaVine, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report listed the Orlando Magic as the “best fit” for LaVine in a trade this offseason.

“With a lengthy (and growing) injury history, a colossal contract and very little team success to show for a decade in the league, LaVine is the trickiest of trade candidates,” Buckley wrote. “Teams must be pretty desperate for buckets to seriously consider bringing him onboard. Orlando might feel such desperation. The Magic made real strides this season, but their growth is capped by their 22nd-ranked offense. Beyond bullying their way to the foul line, there is very little this offense does at even a league-average level. Orlando has standing needs for scoring, spacing and shot-creation, and LaVine, if healthy, is capable of scratching all three itches. The Magic also happen to have the kind of lanky, versatile athletic defenders capable of covering for LaVine’s limitations on the defensive end.

“Plus, they have some wiggle room before the second contracts of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner kick in, so LaVine’s bloated salary may not be the obstacle for them than it is for most. And if it helps keep his trade cost down—and it absolutely should—Orlando could snag a potential problem-solver without doing much damage to its asset collection.”

Adding LaVine’s shot creation could be a huge boost for a Magic team that desperately needs help generating consistent points.

Kevin Huerter could be realistic Bulls trade target this offseason

Should the Chicago Bulls explore a trade for Kevin Huerter this summer?

The Chicago Bulls are going to look to make some changes this summer, and that includes hitting the trade market. Adding some three-point shooting to help balance the roster could be super valuable. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently wrote an article about some realistic Bulls trade targets, and he listed Sacramento Kings wing Kevin Huerter as one of them.

“The Bulls ranked 27th in three-pointers made this season, and that was actually their highest finish in three years,” Buckley wrote. “Their need for better spacing is longstanding and significant. That’s what could lead them toward Kevin Huerter, a career 38.2 percent three-point shooter. While he just posted the worst perimeter percentage of his career (36.1), that could be a blessing in disguise for the Bulls if it brings down his trade cost.

“For the right price, the 6’7″ marksman could be a really good get for Chicago, especially if it lets go of LaVine. Huerter offers the right blend of volume and efficiency to demand constant attention from opposing defenses, meaning his mere court presence would help widen attack lanes for White and DeRozan. If Chicago is adding players this offseason, Huerter is the right type to target. Beyond filling a need as a shooter, he is polished enough to make an immediate impact but also young enough (25) to grow with this core should the Bulls ever shift the franchise’s focus further into the future.”

Adding Huerter to the rotation would give the Bulls a needed boost in the shooting department.

Should the Chicago Bulls make Coby White untouchable in trade talks?

Should the Chicago Bulls make Coby White untouchable in trade talks this offseason?

The Chicago Bulls are going to be active this summer. At least, that’s what seems likely. Arturas Karnisovas has already admitted that the current core isn’t working, so bringing it back as is would be malpractice. Guys like Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso should be expected to be thrown around in trade talks.

But where does the front office draw the line in the sand? What happens with DeMar DeRozan? What about Nikola Vucevic? Does he get traded? At this point, it feels like everyone on the roster could be a trade candidate. But there’s one guy whose case to be untouchable is stronger than anyone else’s – Coby White.

The CHGO Sports YouTube channel recently discussed whether or not the Bulls should make White untouchable in trade talks this offseason.

White just wrapped up an incredible season that saw him finish second in Most Improved Player voting, and he’s still only 24 years old.

Zach LaVine listed as most likely Bulls to ‘hit the trade block’

The Chicago Bulls should be looking to trade Zach LaVine this offseason.

As the Chicago Bulls look to retool their roster this summer, they will likely hit the trade market hard. Their current squad is stuck in the mud and in desperate need of chance. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report recently wrote an article about one player from every NBA team who could hit the trade block this summer, and for the Bulls, he listed Zach LaVine.

“It’s no secret the Chicago Bulls were shopping Zach LaVine before foot surgery ended his season,” Swartz wrote. “We can fully expect them to resume discussions this offseason in their quest to get off his hefty contract.”

Chicago tried to trade LaVine this season prior to his season-ending injury, which effectively took him off the trade market. The supermax extension they handed him in 2022 is a brutal hit to their cap books.

Finding a way to trade LaVine’s contract should be the Bulls’ top priority this offseason.
