Bills players mock Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott during upset win

The Bills hilariously mocked the Cowboys’ star players on Thanksgiving Day.

The Buffalo Bills entered their Thanksgiving Day matchup with an impressive 8-3 record, but most analysts aren’t giving Buffalo much of a chance to contend in the playoffs, and they were 6.5-point underdogs in Dallas on Thursday. Josh Allen and the Bills responded by beating the Cowboys 26-15, and several Bills players openly mocked Cowboys stars at end of the game.

Buffalo’s Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips performed Ezekiel Elliott’s eating gesture to the camera, and Phillips transitioned into a Zeke-esque first down signal. Elliott finished with 71 rushing yards and 66 receiving yards in the game, but had zero touchdowns.

Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White mocked the “Dak Dance” on the sideline in a jab at the Cowboys QB.

Prescott’s move comes from his pregame warmup routine, and has been borrowed by Elliott in a celebration earlier this season.

This isn’t the first time White’s broken out the Dak Dance.

Quick hits, key stats and instant analysis of Cowboys 26-15 loss to Bills

The Cowboys dropped their second straight game, falling 26-15 to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day.

The Cowboys latest struggles continued against Buffalo, falling to 6-6 on the season after their 26-15 Thanksgiving loss. Things started well enough, with Dallas scoring a touchdown on their opening possession. From there, Jason Garrett’s seat only got hotter as the Bills scored 26 unanswered points.

It was over when . . .

. . . Josh Allen ran 15 yards for his eighth rushing touchdown of the season, putting the Bills up 23-7 with 3:37 left in the third quarter. The score put Dallas in a familiar, insurmountable hole, around the same time Cowboys Nation hit their collective food coma.

Game balls:

RB Ezekiel Elliott

He reeled off the longest run on the season, with a 30-yard scamper on the team’s second drive. Early on, it looked like it was going to be Elliott’s best game of the season, but the run game was largely abandoned after the Cowboys fell behind. He took 12 carries for 71 yards, and also chipped in seven catches for another 66 yards.

WR Amari Cooper

Following his zero-catch game against New England, the Cowboys made a concerted effort to get him involved early. He was targeted three times on their opening drive, recording a 16-yard reception and drawing an illegal contact penalty. Cooper took a nasty fall halfway through the fourth quarter, ending his day at eight catches for 85 yards.

WR Ventrell Bryant

Ventrell Bryant was added to the Dallas active roster in Week Seven, and on Thanksgiving Day, recorded his first reception in the NFL: a 15-yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott. While it was an unforgettable game for many, the moment will last forever for the 2019 UDFA.

Key stat: 110

Making his return to Dallas, Cole Beasley sauced the Cowboys for 110 yards (a season high) and a touchdown. It marked the first time he’s gone over 100 receiving yard sin a game since Week 6 of the 2018 season, a pain worse than 80 Stings.

Quick Hits:

  • Two offensive turnovers committed within four snaps of each other signaled the kind of day it was for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott added a third turnover in the second quarter, but it was mercifully erased due to a penalty. For as well as the Dallas offense has played this season, the wheels have completely fall apart at various times, costing them in big moments.
  • Following last week’s missteps, Jason Garrett made another baffling series of coaching decisions, including ending the first half on a missed field goal with a timeout left in his pocket, and converting a 4th and 1 from his own 19 yard line. It was an overall sloppy effort by his team, featuring plenty of penalties, missed tackles, and surrendering a touchdown off a trick play

  • Dak Prescott’s MVP candidacy took a hit following two tough matchups with AFC East defenses. He fumbled twice and threw an interception in a 355 yard losing effort.
  • The Cowboys defense had success sending pressure at Josh Allen, sacking him four times in the game. DBs Darian Thompson and Jourdan Lewis each picked up sacks as blitzers.
  • Buffalo DTs Ed Oliver (two sacks) and Star Lotulelei (interception, blocked field goal) each had a huge impacts, winning the game in the trenches for the Bills. Dallas guard Connor Williams, just two weeks removed from arthroscopic knee surgery, came in and out of the game, and committed a false start on 3rd and 14 which led to a missed Brett Maher field goal attempt.
  • The NFC East is suddenly a lot tighter, with just four games remaining for the Cowboys. They’ve left themselves no margin for error, heading into a December slate featuring Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Rams. They next face the Chicago Bears in a Thursday Night NFC showdown.

Stephen A. Smith gleefully trolls the Cowboys after loss to Bills

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a demoralizing home loss on Thanksgiving Day to the Buffalo Bills, and no one enjoyed reveled in the misery of Cowboys fans more than ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who could barely contain himself in a video he uploaded to Twitter on Thursday night. Smith sipped on a glass of wine and couldn’t stop laughing over the current state of the Cowboys, as Dallas fell to 6-6 with the loss to allow the Eagles right back into the NFC East divisional race.

“You know, I tried to tell y’all…. I’m sitting on Thanksgiving. It’s Thanksgiving evening. Stomach’s full. I’ve eaten very well. Spending beautiful time with my family. My sister Carmen hooked me up, you know what I’m saying? Very, very good evening.

And then what happens? As if I needed another reason to laugh. As if I needed another reason to smile, Josh Allen, some second-year quarterback, rolls into Jerry World looking like the second coming of Joe Montana! Oh, I’m sorry, Lamar Jackson!

You know, First Take’s going to be beautiful tomorrow. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I was tired, I was sleepy, but not anymore!

[uncontrollable laughter]

Hey y’all… HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?”

First Take is going to be a spectacle on Friday.

NFC East News: How the Cowboys loss to Buffalo impacts the Eagles

Bills improve Eagles playoff chances by defeating the Cowboys

In professional sports, you’re not always as good as your most impressive victory, and you definitely can’t allow your worst loss to define your team or their season.

The Philadelphia Eagles were described as a “dumpster fire” by many after a disappointing 17-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, which saw Carson Wentz play his worst game in years.

Wentz has had some rough outings this season, but without much help at receiver and injuries stunting the growth of his offense, the Eagles quarterback has at least beaten teams on his schedule with a winning record.

The same cannot be said for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, who were embarrassed at home on Thanksgiving, but the surging Buffalo Bills.

The Cowboys are now 6-6 on the season and their franchise quarterback laid an egg similar to the one Carson Wentz spit out at home on Sunday. The moral of the story is, that quarterbacks have bad games.

For Prescott and the Cowboys, it continues to happen when they play decent or good teams. The Cowboys’ loss against Buffalo didn’t impact the conference standings, but the Bills stealing a win in Dallas definitely impacts how things will shake out over the next four weeks.

The Cowboys currently hold the head-to-head tie-breaker over the Eagles thanks to their home win over Philadelphia in Week 7. The rematch will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 16 and the Eagles could wrap up the division if things play out correctly.

The Eagles (5-6), will play Miami on the road Sunday, followed by the Giants at home, the Redskins on the road, Dallas at home and then New York on the road to close out the regular season.

For Dallas, the loss to Buffalo means Philadelphia could suffer a road loss to Miami, and still win the division.

After today, Dallas will play at Chicago, then host the Rams, before travelling to Philadelphia and then hosting the Redskins to end their seasons.

Tre’Davious White, Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills win and a turkey leg.

After the Bills’ topped the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, your winning quarterback earn an award. Speaking to CBS broadcaster Tracy Wolfson, Josh Allen was given a turkey leg after the win.

According to the broadcast, Allen said as a kid, he dreamt of eating a turkey leg after winning. CBS did just that for Allen and let him chow down on camera.

While Allen was doing so, Tre’Davious White was hungry, too. The defender came up from behind Allen and took a big bite of his turkey.

Sharing is caring?

Instant analysis: Bills stuff Cowboys in Thanksgiving win

The Buffalo Bills got their statement win. And, it occurred on a national stage.

The Buffalo Bills got their statement win. And, it occurred on a national stage.

The Bills knocked off the Dallas Cowboys 26-7 on Thanksgiving afternoon. The Thanksgiving triumph was Buffalo’s first turkey day win since 1975. In addition, the victory was Buffalo’s first win on a Thursday night since 2015.

Buffalo carved up the Cowboys throughout the game, winning battles in all aspects of the game. The Bills moved the ball at will offensively, with the Cowboys being a step behind on several plays. Defensively, Buffalo confused the top offensive in the NFL, allowing only one score to the NFC East leaders.

Above all, it was an exhibition in coaching, as Sean McDermott and his staff outsmarted the Cowboys’ staff, revealing a confused and oft-times struggling home unit.

The game started out inauspiciously for the Bills, as the Cowboys drove down the field on the opening drive of the game. Dallas went 75 yards on nine plays to put up seven points in less than five minutes into the game. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott found Jason Witten wide open for an eight-yard touchdown pass.

After that series, it was all Buffalo. Josh Allen found Cole Beasley for Buffalo’s first points of the day, a 25-yard touchdown pass in which the Wyoming product found the first-year Bill for a score against his former team. Beasley found a hole in the Cowboys’ secondary and Allen made a throw with pinpoint accuracy.

Buffalo’s offense kept things rolling along, adding another touchdown prior to the end of the first half. Many folks have been clamoring to see some more creativity from Brian Daboll’s play-calling, and it came in the form of a double reverse. John Brown ended up getting credit for the touchdown pass, as he found a wide open Devin Singletary for a 28-yard toss.

The offensive progress continued into the second half. Allen scored on a 15-yard touchdown run. It was a play that many are becoming familiar with seeing from Allen, as he found a space as the defensive end went too far up the field, leaving a gap for Allen to exploit.

When McDermott discusses complementary units, as the defense matched the offense’s dominance on the day. Star Lotulelei picked off a short pass from Prescott. On the subsequent drive for the Cowboys, Ed Oliver forced a Prescott fumble, which was recovered by Trent Murphy.

The Bills put constant pressure on Dallas’ offensive line. Prescott was under duress all afternoon, as Buffalo recorded four sacks and seven quarterback hits. Ed Oliver was tremendous on the day, recorded two sacks. Murphy added a sack, while Star Lotulelei and Jordan Phillips earned half a sack as well.

Buffalo deflected nine passes during the game. Tre’Davious White was in Amari Cooper’s face all game. Even though Cooper put up 85 receiving yards on eight catches, none really put the Bills defense in danger, aside from a few early yips.

Allen ended the day 19-of-24 for 231 passing yards. He added 43 yards on the ground. It was easily one of Allen’s best games in the NFL, as he led the offense with decisive and intelligent choices on the field.

Devin Singletary strengthened his case as the team’s No. 1 back, as the shifty rookie was a focal point for Buffalo’s offense. Singletary ran for 63 yards on 14 carries. He also caught three passes for 38 yards.

Beasley, in his return to Dallas, played like a man who had something to prove. He caught six passes for 110 receiving yards. He was borderline uncoverable, finding space in the Cowboys’ secondary.

The only downfall from the game was Stephen Hauschka’s kicking woes resurfaced. He missed a field goal and a PAT in the first half. He bounced a field goal attempt off the upright, which took a fortunate ricochet for the Bills. He ended two-of-three on PATs and the same stat line for field goals.

It’s a monster win for Buffalo, as it quiets those who criticized the team for their victories this year. The Bills move closer to cementing a playoff spot with this impressive win. Buffalo is now one-and-a-half games behind New England in the AFC East.

The Bills return to the field in ten days, as they face off against the surging Baltimore Ravens at New Era Field.

5 takeaways from the Bills’ 26-15 win over the Cowboys

Takeaways from the Buffalo Bills’ Thanksgiving Day win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The national stage was no problem for the Bills on Thanksgiving as Buffalo topped the Dallas Cowboys, 26-15.

The Bills clinched a winning record with the win in front of many eyes, earning their ninth win of the year.

Here are five takeaways from the Bills’ win over the Cowboys:

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Credit: Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Big game on big stage

Josh Allen, meet America. America, here’s Buffalo’s QB.

Quarterback Josh Allen led an impressive outing for the Bills against the Cowboys. The oft-not nationally televised team started slow. Allen and the offense barely mustered anything early. The defense wasn’t looking good, either. Tre’Davious White certainly wasn’t looking good between two penalties and Amari Cooper beating him.

But everything came together in the end for Sean McDermott’s crew. Allen didn’t reach 300 yards and yes it will be nice when he does and it’s wanted. Allen was 19-for-24 passing for 231 yards and a touchdown. He did fumble, but Allen had 43 rushing yards and another score on the ground as well. But Allen, once again, did what he was asked to do and stepped up on the big stage. No sarcasm: You love to see that. Just like you loved that extra effort on his fumble-first-down conversion run.

The Dallas Cowboys finally started off hot. For the first time all season, the club marched downfield on the game’s opening possession and punched it into the end zone. Ezekiel Elliott was rolling, Amari Cooper was heavily involved and Dak Prescott ended a 75-yard drive with a nice slip-out by a faux-blocking Jason Witten to take an early 7-0 lead over the Buffalo Bills.

And then the rest of the game happened.

What transpired after that was a miserable excuse for execution, coaching and a fortitude as the Bills rolled off the next 26 points en route to a 26-15 victory. The Cowboys got fooled on trick plays, turned the ball over more than they had in any game this year – including a couple that didn’t happen due to penalty or self-recovery – and generally looked disinterested in finishing the fight.  The result may be the finish of the tenure of head coach Jason Garrett.

Dak Prescott played his worst game of the season, Brett Maher missed multiple field goal attempts and the defense allowed Cole Beasley to live his best life, with a

ESPN’s Ed Werder reported prior to the game that the front office had decided to let Garrett finish the season. This performance is going to test the patience of owner Jerry Jones. It has to be a total sense of frustration for the team to fix one of it’s biggest ailments, starting out slow, and then not do any of the other things that had let them stay afloat.

So yes, the Cowboys are still in prime position to make the playoffs, unbelievably based on their performances since starting 3-0.

Normally, Dallas would have 10 days before their next contest; a fair amount of time to consider an interim situation, but Dallas has to play next Thursday night when they travel to Chicago to take on the Bears. The club will still be in first place, no matter what the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6) do on Sunday, when that game kicks off.

The Cowboys (6-6) have not won a game against a team with a winning record this season, but only have one more of such games on their remaining schedule.

Outsiders will likely find out sooner rather than later on if the Garrett will be the man charged with fixing that record.

How the loss to Buffalo affects the Cowboys’ playoff chances

The Cowboys now have no margin for error after losing to the Bills on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys came into their Thanksgiving matchup with the Bills protecting a slim lead in the NFC East race. After a woeful 26-15 loss to Buffalo, that lead is now essentially gone and Dallas’ playoff hopes have taken a massive hit.

FiveThirtyEight gave the Cowboys a 64% chance to win the division before the game. After it, their odds of winning it dropped to 52% while the Eagles’ odds jumped from 36% to 48%. And if Philadelphia takes care of business on Sunday against a bad Dolphins teams, it will be the Eagles with the better odds of winning the East.

The loss to Buffalo eliminated any margin for error the Cowboys had and basically ensured that the Week 16 game in Philadelphia will decide who represents the division in the NFC playoffs. That’s assuming the Eagles will win out against Miami, Washington and New York. Dallas can still afford to lose one more game if it can get out of Philly with a win, however, as that would give them the season sweep and the all-important tiebreaker.

That game in December will almost certainly be a “loser goes home” affair, as both the Cowboys and Eagles are pretty much out of the wild card race. According to FiveThirtyEight, Dallas’ chances of winning a wild card spot is only 1%. The Eagles are already out of the running.

Barring meltdowns by both the Vikings and Packers, the NFC East champ will be locked into the fourth seed and, most likely, get matched up with the runner-up in the 49ers and Seahawks’ race for the NFC West crown.

As for Buffalo, the huge win in Dallas pretty much wrapped up a playoff berth for the Bills. And they needed it with a brutal schedule to finish the season, which includes home games against the scorching hot Jets and Ravens and road trips to Pittsburgh and New England. Winning one of those games would push the Bills’ odds of making the playoffs to over 99%, per FiveThirtyEight.
