Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s 2023 season

Our final Bucs Report Card of 2023 looks over the entire campaign for Tampa Bay. See how we graded the team below:

It was quite a successful season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — that much is hard to argue. But was that who this team really was, or did they overachieve en route to a divisional playoff appearance?

Those are questions that many will try to answer this offseason, and of course, those answers will be opinions. Naturally, we thought we would try our hand at it — we’ve done a Bucs Report Card for almost every game in the 2023 season, and now it’s time for our season-end review.

We took a look at the offense, defense, special teams and coaching in Tampa Bay and assigned them a grade each. Check out how we graded out the Bucs for their 2023 campaign below:

Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s win over Jacksonville in Week 16

The Bucs pass with flying colors once again as the playoffs draw near.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the NFL’s star pupils over the past few weeks.

The team is on a four-game hit streak, and the latest game there was a decimation of the eight-win Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bucs won that game 30-12 and dominated pretty much every facet of the game, and as a result, played one of (if not the) best games they’ve played all year. Tampa Bay now has a division-clinching scenario against the New Orleans Saints in Week 17, and if this game was anything to go by, the Bucs will have a pretty good chance of doing so.

Here’s how we graded out the team’s offense, defense, special teams and coaching:

There was plenty to love from the Bucs’ win over the Packers in the Frozen Tundra.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on a winning streak, and it came at just the right time.

The Bucs have won three games in a row, with the latest being a dominant showing against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Bucs moved to 7-7 in one of their best games all year, controlling the pace of the matchup and finding the end zone often in the statement victory. The team faces some upcoming trials that will determine if it makes the playoffs or not, and if it plays like this more often than not, that will certainly come.

Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s loss to Atlanta in Week 7

Despite a three-point game that saw the defense technically hold the Falcons to 16 points, we believe this was Tampa Bay’s worst game of the season.

This was not only a rough one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — this was one of their worst games of the year.

The Bucs lost a division game against the Atlanta Falcons 16-13 that saw them dethroned from atop the NFC South, and it was an ugly game all around. The offense was still anemic, the defense gave up big yardage on both sides of the ball and the coaching was filled with some baffling decisions that showcased a lack of evolution from this regime. The Bucs dropped to 3-3 on the season and need to improve in many areas to avoid a bigger slide
