Hoosier commitment: Indiana lands coveted 5-star Bryson Tucker

Indiana landed five-star forward Bryson Tucker on Thursday.

Bryson Tucker, one of the top forwards in the class of 2024, committed to Indiana on Thursday.

In the 247Sports Composite, Tucker is the No. 20 player in the nation. He is a 6-foot-6, 180-pound forward from Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, Virginia). ESPN ranks him as the eighth-best small forward in the class.

Previously, he had played for IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida).

Duke, Indiana, Georgetown, Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Villanova and Virginia Tech were among his offer list.

Tucker is an intriguing prospect. A tremendous outside shooter, Tucker is also a strong presence down low. His rebounding is an underrated part of his game.

Bouncy and athletic, he is dangerous in the open court. He is now the first (and only) commitment in the class of 2024 for Indiana.

Last year, Indiana finished the season 19-14 (10-10 Big Ten). In the third season under head coach Mike Woodson, it was the first time that the Hoosiers did not make the NCAA Tournament.

REPORT: MSU target, 5-star SF Bryson Tucker takes official visit to Indiana

A big-time prospect the Spartans are targeting has reportedly found some new interest in a Big Ten rival

A big-time prospect the Spartans are targeting has reportedly found some new interest in a Big Ten rival.

Five-star small forward Bryson Tucker reportedly took an official visit to Indiana on Tuesday. Jeff Rabjohns of 247Sports reportedly the notable recruiting news.

Tucker is ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He’s also listed as the No. 7 small forward and No. 1 player from Virginia.

Michigan State has long been considered one of the favorites to land Tucker’s commitment, with Kansas also in the mix. However, with Indiana entering the picture, things could be shifting away from the Spartans for Tucker.

Michigan State basketball: Who’s next in the 2024 recruiting class

MSU already has 2 commits in their 2024 recruiting class, check out who could be next:

Michigan State picked up their second commitment of the 2024 recruiting class on Thursday, picking up Ohio big man Jesse McCulloch. McCulloch joins fellow 4-star Kur Teng, a wing from Massachusetts.

McCulloch and Teng are two solid prospects to start with in 2024, but now it is time for Izzo and company to round out their recruiting class.

The Spartans almost surely will be picking up a 3rd player in the class, but I would not be surprised if they want another 4-man class in 2024.

Positionally, I do not expect the Spartans to pursue a point guard, being well off at that position. The center spot is also a 50/50 whether Izzo pursues, but adding another wing appears to be the direction MSU for sure will go in.

Check out some prospects on MSU’s board as the 2024 class unfolds:

Several elite HS basketball players join Jr. NBA leadership program

Top-ranked basketball players including Isiah Harwell and Jaloni Cambridge have joined the Jr. NBA Court of Leaders, where they are assigned a mentor and learn leadership skills.

The second cohort of the Jr. NBA Court of Leaders consists of some of the top boys and girls basketball players in the classes of 2024, 2025 and 2026.
