Bryce Lewis earns PGA Americas professional status

Bryce Lewis becomes first Vol in program history to earn midseason professional status.

Tennessee redshirt senior Bryce Lewis earned professional status for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Lewis earned professional status with PGA Americas, announced by PGA TOUR University on Tuesday.

He becomes the first Tennessee golfer to earn midseason professional status. Lewis earned the distinction by finishing No. 22 in PGA TOUR University rankings.

Lewis is Tennessee’s all time leader in rounds of par or better (91). He culminated his collegiate career at the NCAA Championships by finishing as the Vols’ top finisher, tied for 35th.

During the 2023-24 season, Lewis recorded two podium finishes: fifth place at the SEC Championships and sixth place at NCAA Regionals.

Two Vols earn PING all-region honors

Caleb Surratt and Bryce Lewis named all-region by PING.

Tennessee men’s golfers Bryce Lewis and Caleb Surratt earned PING All-Southeast Region honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Both players were previously named to the All-SEC team by the league coaches earlier this month.

Surratt was a first-team all-conference selection and was named SEC Freshman of the Year, while Lewis earned second-team all-conference honors.

Lewis and Surratt received all-region honors, marking the fourth consecutive year Tennessee players were honored by PING.

During his first season at Tennessee, Surratt led the Vols in stroke average of 69.58 over 33 rounds. He also shot par or better 27 times.

Lewis, a second-team All-SEC standout for the second straight season, won the Purdue Fall Invitational in October and finished second at the Mason Rudolph Championship in April.

Redshirt junior Bryce Lewis and freshman Caleb Surratt have been named to the Ben Hogan Award watch list, presented by PNC Bank.

37 college student-athletes were named by the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation, the Friends of Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The Ben Hogan Award honors top golfers in NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA based on collegiate, amateur, and professional events during the previous 12 months.

Tennessee is one of nine schools to have multiple players named to the list.

Lewis recorded an individual championship at the Purdue Invitational in 2022.

Surratt is one of three freshmen to be named to the list.

Bryce Lewis named SEC Golfer of the Week

UT redshirt sophomore named SEC Golfer of the Week.

University of Tennessee golfer Bryce Lewis has been named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.

Lewis, a redshirt sophomore, earned the weekly award after winning his first individual tournament championship.

Lewis posted a score of 6-under par to win the Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham.

The event featured an 81-man field that included competitors from eight top-25 teams.

Lewis has been a model of consistency as he leads the Volunteers with 14 rounds of par or better. He has also posted a pair of top-five finishes in tournaments during the academic year.

In addition to winning in Birmingham, he finished tied for fourth at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational during the fall semester.

Bryce Lewis claimed an individual tournament championship, while Tennessee finished second as a team at The Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham.

The tournament was played in Birmingham, Alabama.

“The course this week was set up as a championship test to identify the best player, and it was great to see Bryce get his first collegiate victory against one of the best college fields of the year on such a demanding course,” Tennessee head coach Brennan Webb said. “We had a really solid week as a team on a course that is very much like the ones we are going to face in postseason, so I know we will take a lot of confidence from this going forward.”
