Texas lands commitment from 2024 four-star Jaden Allen

BOOM! Texas just landed their first commitment of the 2024 class.

It may be a long ways away, but Texas has added their first commit for the class of 2024, and it is somewhat of a legacy commit.

Four-star athlete Jaden Allen, the younger brother of current Texas signee safety Bryan Allen, took to Twitter to announce that he will be teaming up with bis brother and committing to Texas.

The younger Allen made his presence felt as a defensive back, and is projected by major recruited sites to play defensive back at the next level, contrary to his commit picture, which lists him as a receiver. In 13 games this past season he accumulated 28 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.

Allen is currently a tad undersized at 5-foot-9 150, but still has room to fill out his frame, as he is just a sophomore in high school at the moment.

He chose to commit to Texas over schools such as Mississippi State, Jackson State, and LSU.

Where Texas’ 2022 defensive commits and top targets rank after ESPN’s updated rankings

Four of Texas’ commits in the ’22 class are on defense. Here is where Texas’ defensive commits, top targets are in the latest ESPN300.

Four of Texas’ seven commits in the 2022 class come from the defensive side of the ball. Safety Bryan Allen and cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau will headline the secondary, while defensive tackle Kristopher Ross and linebacker Trevell Johnson are monsters within the front seven.

In ESPN’s latest rankings update, all but Johnson make it into the top 300 prospects. Allen is the highest rated out of the four, coming in at No. 77 and the No. 5 safety in the country.

Plenty of Texas targets are highly ranked as well, highlighted by five-star outside linebacker Harold Perkins and four-star cornerback Denver Harris. These are two guys considered a must for Pete Kwiatkowski’s group in the ’22 class. Their talent is too good to allow outside of Austin.

The early signing is not until December, giving the Longhorns plenty of time to make a few more splashes. With official visits occurring over the month of June, Sarkisian and his staff will have the opportunity to sell the 2022 class on their product in person. Some of the top players in the country have already locked down official visit dates.

2022 four-star safety commits to Texas over Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners missed out on Texas product Bryan Allen as he commits to the Texas Longhorns.

The 2022 recruiting cycle is in full swing and while the Oklahoma Sooners had some momentum early, the Texas Longhorns are picking it up as of late. The latest being four-star safety of Aledo (Texas) deciding to stay home and commit to the Sooners’ biggest rivals.

Bryan Allen is the No. 6 safety of the class and No. 88 player overall. This makes the seventh commit for the Longhorns in the 2022 cycle. Oklahoma currently has six commits and could be narrowing in on another, it remains to be seen. At defensive back, OU made the recent top list for five-star prospect and No. 1 overall safety in the class, Jacoby Mathews.

All in all, the Sooners have a total of 15 offers out to the 2022 class at safety. Along with Mathews, OU has offers to Kamari Wilson of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, as well as Chace Biddle of Garland. Biddle holds the Sooners in high regard and he is the teammate of current commit Jordan Hudson. He could become a priority target for Alex Grinch if they whiff on Wilson and/or Mathews.

In the current class, the Sooners might add a safety in recent Texas A&M decommit Kendal Daniels. He was released from his letter of intent with the Aggies and Oklahoma is seen as the front-runner to land the Oklahoma target out of Beggs. That is another situation to monitor moving forward as the spring progresses. No reason to even worry at this point in time.
