The Seahawks and Buccaneers played a game today, but for once the crowd was the story. The German fans in attendance at Allianz Arena in Munich were as loud as it gets in pro football and brought their own unique flavor to a game with a Super Bowl atmosphere.

One Seattle veteran in particular enjoyed the crowd of 69,000+ singing John Denver. Watch Bruce Irvin – who played his college ball at West Virginia – vibe to Take Me Home, Country Roads in crunch time.

Seahawks: 7 takeaways from Munich matchup with Buccaneers

Here are seven takeaways from today’s loss in Germany.

The Seahawks got pummeled the first three quarters by the Buccaneers today in Munich. They rallied in the fourth quarter and made it an interesting game, but came up just short, losing 21-16.

Here are seven takeaways from today’s loss in Germany.

Bruce Irvin tries to ignite Seahawks defense with fiery sideline speech

Watch veteran linebacker Bruce Irvin try to fire up Seattle’s defense on the sidelines after their rough start.

The Seahawks are not off to a great start in Germany in the first half against the Bucs. Their much-improved run defense has regressed against what was the league’s worst running team coming in, they’re not getting pressure on Tom Brady and one of their linebackers is getting abused in coverage.

Things aren’t much better on offense, either.

The Bucs lead 14-0 with three minutes left in the second quarter.

Bruce Irvin: 51 photos from Seahawks legend’s time with the team

Irvin’s return is just one of too many feel-good stories for Seattle this season to count.

The Seahawks have pulled off a stunning defensive turnaround over the last four weeks, going from the second-worst in the NFL to the second-best. A lot of folks deserve credit for the improvement – especially defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt for getting everybody on the same page and linebacker Jordyn Brooks for finding his footing as the Mike.

Even though he hasn’t made a huge impact on the field himself, re-signing Bruce Irvin exactly one month ago today coincided with the defensive surge – and it’s not a stretch to think his presence has helped. Irvin’s return is just one of too many feel-good stories for Seattle this season to count.

Bruce Irvin poised to make NFL history again with Sunday’s game

Since the Seahawks re-signed Bruce Irvin four weeks ago, their defense has pulled off a dramatic turnaround.

The Seahawks are making history this season in a lot of ways. The next item on the list is playing in the first NFL game ever in Germany. Seattle’s team looks a lot different than their peak during the Legion of Boom years. However, there is one familiar face who’s returned recently to be part of what’s becoming a special season.

Since the Seahawks re-signed Bruce Irvin four weeks ago, their defense has pulled off a dramatic turnaround, going from the second-worst unit in the league this year to one of the best. It will be fun to see Irvin be a part of the festivities in Munich on Sunday morning.

For Irvin, it will be the fifth different country he’s played a game in.

Irvin has been around long enough to make all kinds of history – including being the only player to get kicked out of a Super Bowl.

Bruce Irvin on Seahawks being underdogs vs. Buccaneers: ‘We love it’

Bruce Irvin says they love it.

The Seahawks have been underdogs for most of their games this season. It wasn’t until Week 8 against the Giants that they finally started getting some respect from the oddsmakers. And yet, last week they were once again considered underdogs against the Cardinals, who they just beat by 10 points for the second time this season. For an encore, Seattle is once again not favored for this week’s matchup in Munich against the Buccaneers.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, the Bucs are favored by 1.5 points. However, if you haven’t figured it out by now these Seahawks kind of like being the underdogs. Bruce Irvin says they love it.

While Irvin’s arrival a few weeks ago can’t be credited with everything that’s gone right during this four-game winning streak, it doesn’t feel like a total coincidence, either. Despite a couple mistakes on Arizona’s first drive on Sunday, Seattle’s defense has done an absolute 180 since an awful start and now looks like a true top-10 unit. Some numbers back that up, as well.

As for the Bucs, they’re 4-5 and are considered one of the biggest disapppointments in the NFL this year. Still, by now we’ve learned never to count out Tom Brady, who just became the first player ever with 100,000 career passing yards and led Tampa on his 55th game-winning drive, passing Peyton Manning for the most all time.

If the playoffs were to begin today, Seattle would hold the third seed in the NFC and Tampa would be fourth. Expect a postseason type atmosphere.

Seahawks sign LB Bruce Irvin to active roster ahead of Cardinals game

The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of linebacker Bruce Irvin to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week-9 matchup against the Cardinals.

The Seattle Seahawks have announced the signing of linebacker Bruce Irvin to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week-9 matchup against the Cardinals. Irvin fills the empty spot made available when cornerback Sidney Jones was waived earlier in the week.

Irvin joined the Seahawks recently for his third stint in Seattle when he was added to the practice squad last month. Elevated to the roster for the team’s last two matchups, his leadership in the locker room has been invaluable.

“I just think it’s been as obvious as it can get,” coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday when asked about Irvin’s contributions. “He has a presence about him, he’s a tough guy that you can just feel it and know it. He also has the experience that he knows a lot that is going on in the game. Whereas we are trying to elevate our young guys, give them more awareness, spread their ability to see things coming, he’s already there, so he can show them.”

Irvin and the Seahawks are set to square off against the Cardinals in Arizona on Sunday. The final injury report of the week will be released later Friday afternoon.

The Seahawks will have to finish this defensive chess match with the Giants without one of their top young linemen.

The team just announced that third-year outside linebacker Darrell Taylor has been ruled out for the rest of the game due to a hip injury.

Taylor’s snaps have been going to veteran Bruce Irvin, who’s been called up from the practice squad for the second straight week.

Like the rest of Seattle’s defense, Taylor had a brutal start to the 2022 season. However, he’s come on strong the last few weeks. He ranks second in the league with three forced fumbles.
