Browns hold on to beat the Ravens: Inconsistency continues

A lot to talk about after the Browns Week 14 victory. We start with inconsistencies and end with the fact that the AFC North lead could be Cleveland’s as early as next week:

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14 of the NFL season to move their record to 7-6. The Ravens fell to 8-5 after their second straight loss within the AFC North.

The Browns pushed out to a 24-3 lead late in the first half but failed to score another point while Baltimore scored the final 19 points of the game.

Fortunately for the home team, their early scoring was enough to get the victory, 24-22.

Pending the rest of the results from Week 14, Cleveland will be in the eighth or ninth seed in the AFC with a chance to possibly control their playoff destiny.

What did we learn in the Week 14 win?

Browns vs Ravens: Thursday injury report has multiple changes

The second injury report of the week had a few changes for both the Browns and Ravens including a new Cleveland injury:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens matchup for the second time in three weeks. In between, the Browns were on their bye week getting as healthy as possible while the Ravens lost a close game to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Wednesday came the first injury report of the week with a lot of “DNP” noted. Not surprisingly, Baltimore had a few more injuries listed than Cleveland.

Thursday, saw a few changes from the initial injury report from the day prior. (Bold indicates change in status from Wednesday to Thursday)

Baltimore

  • CB Anthony Averett – Limited
  • TE Nick Boyle – DNP
  • DT Calais Campbell – Full
  • OLB Justin Houston – Off injury list
  • DB/LB Anthony Levine Sr. – Limited
  • OL Patrick Mekari – DNP
  • FB Patrick Ricard – DNP
  • WR Miles Boykin – Limited
  • S Chuck Clark – Off injury list
  • DB Kevon Seymour – Limited
  • DB Brandon Stephens – Limited

Al Villanueva and Brandon Williams were added to the list for their rest days on Thursday.

Cleveland

  • DT Jordan Elliott – Limited
  • TE Harrison Bryant – DNP
  • DT Malik Jackson – DNP
  • WR Jarvis Landry – Limited
  • WR Anthony Schwartz – DNP
  • C JC Tretter – DNP
  • S Ronnie Harrison – Limited

One improvement with Landry going from not participating to limited. Tretter went from limited on Wednesday to not participating on Thursday while Elliott joined the list with his knee.

Browns vs Ravens: Early week injury report has a lot of DNPs

A couple of concerning DNPs for the teams including Landry for the Browns despite coming off the team’s bye week:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens matchup for the second time in three weeks. In between, the Browns were on their bye week getting as healthy as possible while the Ravens lost a close game to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Wednesday came the first injury report of the week with a lot of “DNP” noted. Not surprisingly, Baltimore had a few more injuries listed than Cleveland.

Baltimore

  • CB Anthony Averett – DNP
  • TE Nick Boyle – DNP
  • DT Calais Campbell – DNP (Illness)
  • OLB Justin Houston – DNP (Rest)
  • DB/LB Anthony Levine Sr. – DNP
  • OL Patrick Mekari – DNP
  • FB Patrick Ricard – DNP
  • WR Miles Boykin – Limited
  • S Chuck Clark – Limited due to personal reasons
  • DB Kevon Seymour – Limited
  • DB Brandon Stephens – Limited

The continued problems in the defensive back room may be the biggest issue to watch going forward for the Ravens but the sheer volume of injuries is also concerning.

Two others, Jaylon Ferguson and Chris Westry, were on the injury report but full participants in practice.

Cleveland

  • TE Harrison Bryant – DNP
  • DT Malik Jackson – DNP
  • WR Jarvis Landry – DNP
  • WR Anthony Schwartz – DNP
  • C JC Tretter – Limited
  • S Ronnie Harrison – Limited

That four players did not participate despite the bye week is slightly concerning especially with Landry’s knee issues this season. Schwartz hasn’t played since sustaining his concussion which is a concerning sign for the near future.

Tretter and Jackson have been nursing injuries throughout the year and using practices off to do so. Baker Mayfield and Sione Takitaki were also listed on the injury report but were full participants in practice.

Browns Vs Ravens SNF game highlights seen here

Browns. Ravens. Sunday Night Football. Cleveland’s highlights here:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens had a key matchup in Week 12 that was circled when the schedule came out. The two teams have two games in three weeks with the Browns having their bye week in between.

On Sunday Night Football, Cleveland has a chance to make a statement against Baltimore. The Browns haven’t lived up to their expectations so far this season struggling against good teams outside of the Cincinnati Bengals.

With the Bengals destroying the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in Week 12, a Cleveland victory would put them just a half-game behind the Bengals and Ravens for the top of the division and hold the tiebreaker over both teams, before their second matchups.

Keeping track of all the highlights from Sunday Night Football for Browns fans right here:

Browns Vs Ravens inactive lists

With 10 questionable players going into the game for the Ravens and two for the Browns, who is officially inactive for SNF:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens face off on Sunday Night Football in an important game in the AFC North. The Ravens lead the division going into Week 12 while the Browns, despite a 6-5 record, sit in the basement.

Going into the game, Baltimore had 10 players listed as questionable while Cleveland had two. For the Ravens, there are a few big names on their questionable list with Calais Campbell and Marquise Brown perhaps the biggest.

With about 90 minutes to go until Sunday Night Football, both teams have released their official inactive lists:

Cleveland

  • WR Anthony Schwartz
  • FB Andy Janovich
  • S Richard LeCounte III
  • DE Ifeadi Odenigbo
  • OL James Hudson III
  • WR Rashard Higgins
  • DT Tommy Togiai

Baltimore

  • WR Miles Boykin
  • OL Cedric Ogbuehi
  • DE Calais Campbell
  • CB Jimmy Smith
  • CB Chris Westry
  • TE Josh Oliver

Will any of the missing players have a big impact on the result of the game? Campbell is obviously the big name but the Browns inactives are interesting as well.

Browns vs Ravens early Sunday injury updates

Early Sunday injury updates look good for three of the questionable players for Sunday Night Football:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens square off on Sunday Night Football with a lot on the line in the AFC North. The Ravens lead the division despite struggling in multiple areas throughout the year. The Browns trail in the division despite high expectations and a 6-5 record coming into the week.

Health has been a big story for both teams this year and could be again for this game but most for the home team. Baltimore entered the day with 10 players listed as questionable for the game and two listed as out. Cleveland, on the other hand, only had two players listed as questionable and one player out.

Both the Browns and the Ravens made a bunch of moves on Saturday to get the roster in the best shape for the game.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network early Sunday morning, the Browns will have both of their questionable players available for today’s game:

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Ravens will have their speedy wide receiver as long as he doesn’t have a pregame setback:

Calais Campbell is one of the other big names that is questionable for Baltimore. He must pass the league’s concussion protocols to play in tonight’s game. He has missed practice all week while being in the protocol.

We will get both teams’ inactives list about 90 minutes before kickoff to find out who is officially in and who is officially out.

Browns Vs Ravens final injury report: 12 questionable, 3 out for game

On the final injury report, the Browns are healthier with the Ravens having 10 questionable players and two that are out:

The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens are dealing with a lot of injury issues. Both teams have done so throughout the year so far. For Week 12, the Browns are actually the more healthy team compared to the Ravens.

Baltimore has listed two players as out for Sunday:

  • WR Miles Boykin
  • OL Cedric Ogbuehi

Cleveland has listed one player as out for Sunday:

  • WR Anthony Schwartz

The Ravens have listed a whopping 10 players as questionable for Sunday:

  • DE Calais Campbell – Concussion
  • WR Marquise Brown – Thigh
  • DT Brandon Williams – Shoulder
  • TE Nick Boyle – Knee
  • CB Jimmy Smith – Neck
  • CB Chris Westry – Thigh
  • CB Tavon Young – Foot/knee
  • CB Anthony Averett – Thigh
  • OL Patrick Mekari – Ankle
  • FB Patrick Ricard – Hip/foot

The Browns only list two players as questionable for the key Week 12 matchup:

  • CB Troy Hill – Neck
  • WR Donovan Peoples-Jones – Groin

There is some confidence that both Cleveland players will be able to give it a go Sunday night while there is uncertainty with many of the Ravens players including Campbell who is in concussion protocol.

Browns will be wearing 75th-anniversary uniforms for Ravens game

‘Look good, feel good, play good’ is the goal in the 75th for Cleveland on SNF:

The Cleveland Browns know they have a huge game in front of them on Sunday of Week 12. Facing off with the Baltimore Ravens could lead them down one of two paths for the rest of the season. Doing it on primetime, Sunday Night Football, gives them a chance to make a statement in front of a national audience.

We don’t know what kind of statement they will make with their play on the field but we know they will be making a statement with their uniforms. Cleveland will pull out their 75th-anniversary uniforms for this important contest.

The clean look honors the team’s start and has been lauded by most for the style. The Browns are going to be wearing them for a select number of games this year, seemingly important ones going forward, including this week:

Another sign of just how important this week’s game is will be the uniforms the team pulls on Sunday night in Baltimore. More importantly is how well they play in those uniforms. The team controlled the Chicago Bears in these uniforms earlier this year.

Hopefully, as the old saying goes, Cleveland will ‘look good, feel good, play good’ with these uniforms on.
