Browns blowout loss to Patriots fuels the many questions that plaque the team

We have questions after Browns failures in Week 10 versus the Patriots. A few starting questions here, more to come:

The Cleveland Browns are now 5 – 5 going into Week 11 of the 2021 season. The team was destroyed in almost every way possible in Week 10 against the New England Patriots. Cleveland’s preseason expectations seem like a year ago given where the team is at this point.

New England, on the other hand, looks to have retooled perfectly with a rookie quarterback and Bill Belichick calling the shots.

Jones only threw for 198 yards but had three touchdowns and looked calm in the pocket all game. Rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson had 20 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns while Kendrick Bourne and Brandon Bolden had over 10 yards per carry on three carries each.

Jones used a wide variety of pass-catchers with five catching three or more including tight end Hunter Henry’s two touchdown receptions.

For the Browns, so many questions with almost no answers. They have lost to the best teams on their schedule and beat the lower-level squads. Week 11 against the Detroit Lions gives them a chance to do the latter while Week 12 and 14 against the Baltimore Ravens gives them chances to beat a good opponent.

For now, we have questions, questions and more questions. For now, taking an overarching look at some of the questions we have:

Browns Vs Patriots inactive lists are out: Last minute surprises?

The Browns will be without multiple players on the COVID-19 list as well as Takk McKinley. The Pats will be without RB Damien Harris. Who will be inactive this week for both squads:

The Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots face off with one another at 1 PM today. The two sides have equal 5 – 4 records going into the game after far different expectations coming into the season.

There should be a lot of storylines coming out of the game including how the Browns try to rattle rookie QB Mac Jones and how Bill Belichick tries to stop the vaunted Cleveland rushing attack.

Cleveland has a few players on the COVID-19 list which is not included in the inactives. Most importantly, Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton will not play today.

With about 90 minutes to go until kickoff, both teams have released their inactive reports:

Browns

  • DE Takk McKinley
  • CB Greedy Williams
  • S Richard LeCounte III
  • LB Tony Fields II
  • WR Ja’Marcus Bradley
  • DT Sheldon Day

Williams was the lone Browns player listed as questionable this week and won’t be on the field but Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and MJ Stewart will return.

Patriots

  • RB Damien Harris
  • CB Shaun Wade
  • DE Ronnie Perkins
  • TE Jonnu Smith
  • OL Yasir Durant
  • QB Jarrett Stidham
  • WR Gunner Olszewski

As reported earlier this morning, RB Rhamodre Stevenson will play despite missing all week. LB Jamie Collins was listed as doubtful but will give it a go against one of his former teams.

Browns vs. Patriots Week 10: How to watch, listen and stream

All the game watching, listening and streaming information you need for Browns Vs Patriots including the referee assigned to not calling holding calls against Myles Garrett (sarcasm(?)):

The Cleveland Browns turned the page on an eventful week in Week 9 with a victory. In Week 10, without Nick Chubb, Demetric Felton and others, the team will have to defeat the 5 – 4 New England Patriots to keep the momentum going.

The game won’t be easy as Bill Belichick rarely lets that happen especially at home. With the teams having the same record in the crowded AFC, today’s matchup could have huge implications moving forward for both teams.

Browns Vs Patriots: Learning about the opponent behind enemy lines

How are the Pats 5 – 4? How might they try to shut down the Browns run game? and more Behind Enemy Lines with Pats Wire:

The Cleveland Browns face off with the New England Patriots in Week 10 of the NFL season. Both teams come in with a 5 – 4 record and, in an interesting AFC, a chance to compete for both their division and high seeds in the conference.

The Patriots always have expectations under Bill Belichick but starting a rookie quarterback after a difficult 2020 season kept those a little lower.

The Browns, on the other hand, had high expectations based on the substance of their 2020 season and a roster full of talent.

Both sit at 5 – 4 despite the differing expectations.

In an attempt to learn more about Cleveland’s opponent this week, we went “Behind Enemy Lines” with Patriots Wire managing editor Henry McKenna.

Browns Week 10 injury update: Garrett in, McKinley out

Only one player will enter Week 10 as questionable for the Browns and, updated, Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton are out for Week 10:

The Cleveland Browns still have some questions to answer when it comes to availability for Sunday but we have some clarity Friday afternoon as well. While we will not have any information on the COVID-19 related cases, with Nick Chubb being the biggest name, until Saturday, we do know that Baker Mayfield and Myles Garrett will be active.

Update: Shortly after this publication, head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that Chubb and Demetric Felton would be out for Week 10. End update.

Unfortunately for the Browns, defensive end Takk McKinley will miss the game with his groin injury. McKinley came back in Week 9 but reaggravated the injury that had kept him out previously.

Mayfield and Garrett popped up on injury reports this week with foot issues but both have been cleared to play in Week 10 against the New England Patriots.

Only cornerback Greedy Williams, with a shoulder issue, will be listed as questionable going into the game.

With them being listed on the COVID-19 reserve list, Chubb, Demetric Felton, Nick Harris and John Kelly are not on the injury report but updates, or lack of updates, should come on Saturday.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and MJ Stewart are also not required to be listed on the injury report because they are still on the injured reserve list. Both have been designated for return and could be activated in time for Sunday’s contest.
