Former UNC basketball guard [autotag]Bobby Frasor[/autotag] announced over the weekend that he would be stepping down from his position as the head coach of Brother Rice (IL) high school.

Frasor was brought back to his alma mater in 2015 after starring at Brother Rice from 2001-05. He earned McDonald’s All-American honors as a senior.

In his seven seasons as head coach, Frasor combined for an overall record of 143-56 and won two regional titles. This past season, Brother Rice finished 24-7 overall.

Both of Frasor’s regional titles came within the first three seasons. He had turned around a program that was just 26-32 in the two years before he was hired.

“I obviously loved my time at Brother Rice and had an unbelievable seven years at the school and with the kids I had there,” Frasor said. “It was a fun, fun ride. But ultimately I have to do what’s best for myself and future family. Other opportunities presented themselves and I just had to make the change at this time.”

Frasor won at least 19 games every season expect for the 2020-21 year which was shortened due to Covid. He led Brother Rice to a 13-1 record that season. There were four seasons of at least 20 wins.
Frasor played four years at UNC and was part of the 2009 National Championship team. He later played two seasons overseas before returning to UNC as a video coordinator. He also served as the Director of Operations at UAB before taking the Brother Rice job.

FIW Exclusive: Get to know Notre Dame’s newest dual-sport athlete Jack Lausch

Get to know the next dual-sport Irish athlete, Jack Lausch

Over the weekend dual-sport Chicago Brother Rice High School athlete Jack Lausch committed to the Irish, to play both baseball and football in South Bend.

The impressive athlete was relatively under the radar prior to his pledge, but that will no longer be the case. Watch the interview Lausch and I had yesterday to get to know what to expect from Notre Dame’s next dual-sport star.

Notre Dame double-dips with their latest commitment

Yet another impressive athlete will matriculate to South Bend

It was a good day for both the Notre Dame football and baseball program as today, Illinois dual-sport athlete Jack Lausch has committed to the Irish.

I’ve seen Lausch multiple times at football camps, the quarterback has a strong as and a great frame at six-foot-three-inches and 195-pounds. He’s cerebral with his reads and will give the Irish yet another option as a signal caller.

As for his exploits on the baseball field, the left-handed hitting outfielder will bring his impressive skill set to Link Jarrett’s squad. We have seen plenty of dual-sport athletes for the Irish, Cole Kmet and Jeff Samardzija are two of the more successful ones. Hopefully we will be able to add Lausch’s name to that list in the future.

Cool name – check.

Super tall lineman – check.

In-state athlete – check.

Brother Rice’s Aristotle Taylor hits a lot of the boxes for Mel Tucker and Michigan State Football, and they gave him a preferred walk-on (PFO) offer on Tuesday to join the team in 2021.

Taylor will have the opportunity to bet on himself and join the Spartans. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound defensive end is the No. 39 ranked player in the state of Michigan for 2021 by 247Sports and the No. 90 ranked defensive end.

Taylor has offers from Air Force, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Illinois State, Morgan State and Yale, but a PFO offer from MSU might be enough to lure him to East Lansing.

With the addition of huge names to the 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes like Emoni Bates, Max Christie, Enoch Boakye, along with more local stars like Pierre Brooks and Jaden Akins, Tom Izzo has been on maybe the best recruiting stretch in Michigan State Basketball history, or at least close to it. However, we have not heard much yet from Izzo in terms of 2023 recruiting, but that is starting to change.

On Tuesday, it was reported by Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers that Curtis Williams Jr., the 5-star small forward out of Brother Rice, intends to visit the Spartans once it’s safely possible to do so.

Here is the tweet from Weingarten with the report:

Williams took an unofficial visit with Michigan State back in February, but six months later, his recruitment should really start to heat up. Williams describes himself as a Jayson Tatum style player and should be the top player in the state of Michigan for 2023.
