Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Brooklyn Nets and Ben Simmons beating the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Brooklyn Nets beat the Blazers in Portland 109-107 thanks to Royce O’Neal’s tip-in game-winner.
Ben Simmons had his best game of the season, as he flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Simmons was also a focal point for Brooklyn on the defensive side of the court.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the former 76ers star putting up his best game of the season.
Reports indicate that Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai “lost his belief” in the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving experiment.
While the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving era is coming to a disappointing end, Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai stopped believing in the experiment.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports that Tsai, “lost his belief that this could work.” Windhorst even inferred that Tsai and company feel a breath of relief following Durant’s trade request.
“They [Durant and Irving] lost the billionaire, and that’s Joe Tsai. He lost his belief that this could work. He attempted through Sean Marks the General Manager to re-negotiate not just the contract of Kyrie Irving… The last straw to me was when Kyrie said, ‘see you in the fall.’ That was sort of a declaration of[by Irving], ‘alright I’m going to give you one more year, you’re going to get one more year.’ I think Durant saw the writing on the wall too… I actually think there’s is an immense sense of relief across that river in Brooklyn.”

Nets owner Joe Tsai is straight-up sick and tired of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving:
“Joe Tsai would rather have a team that he's proud to own that wins 40 games than a team that has way more talent that he's not proud to be a part of.” 😳
A report indicates that the Brooklyn Nets were shopping three-point shooter Joe Harris with the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.
As the summer goes on organizations are preparing to rebuild their rosters, many teams including the Brooklyn Nets will look to make aggressive moves to ensure a postseason run.
Founder of Legion Hoops Ross reports that Brooklyn was involved in preliminary talks around a three-team trade involving the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets.
According to the news the trade involved the Nets shopping deadeye three-point shooter Joe Harris. Guard James Bouknight and John Collins were the other players discussed alongside draft picks.
The Hawks announced their intent to trade John Collins already, as they continue to search for a team with interest in the slashing forward. Collins is an expert at finishing around the rim and punishing lackluster perimeter defense.
The trade talks clearly didn’t complete as the Hornets began exploring disgruntled player Myles Turner with the Indiana Pacers.

The Nets have resources to move around in order to upgrade some talent around their roster.
The Nets, Hornets & Hawks have held preliminary talks on a 3-team trade involving Joe Harris, John Collins, James Bouknight & draft picks, per league source.
Reports indicate that Kyrie Irving has requested and been given permission to look for sign-and-trade destinations from the Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving contract talks seem to be coming to an end with reports that Irving requested and was permitted to search sign-and-trade options.
The contract negotiations have been ongoing for weeks with relations between the two parties souring.
NBA writer Kristian Winfield reported the news that Irving had request and was given permission to discuss possible sign-and-trade destinations.
“Irving’s camp has requested and received permission from the Nets to speak with other teams about sign-and-trade packages, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. The belief among both league and player circles is that Irving is gone and the Seven-Eleven Era is over before it ever began.”
Most reports indicate that Irving’s goal is to reunite with old teammate LeBron James in Los Angeles for the Lakers.
Sources: Kyrie Irving has requested and received permission from the Nets to find sign-and-trade offers from other teams. Kevin Durant still hasn't spoken to Nets front office. Russell Westbrook to Brooklyn remains unlikely. More for @NYDNSportshttps://t.co/SQ0hZxL4fm
Home to white-sand beaches, delicious Cuban cuisine, and, of course, beautiful sunshine. A paradise situated on the Southern tip of Florida, Miami has it all. Even NFL star Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins traded for earlier this week.
Aside from his lightning-quick touchdowns, Hill is known for his audacity. It’s not enough that he incinerates a poor safety’s pursuit angle in the blink of an eye. He has to rub in just how much better he is at football than them.
Hill’s most famous celebration is the “peace sign” he holds up in a hapless defender’s face as he cruises across the end line. He’s done it enough that it’s synonymous with his player profile.
And during the Heat-Nets game on Saturday night, in the middle of a laugher in Miami, Nets center Andrew Drummond decided to commemorate Hill joining the greater South Florida community:
He flashed the peace sign before finishing a dunk.
Hilarious. Like the announcing crew, I can’t get over the panache.
I’ll be honest, Dear Reader. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a 6-foot-10, 280-pound man have the wherewithal to pour salt in the wound mid-play. I guess Drummond is built different.
I also guess that’s what happens in the middle of a road blowout: You channel the trademark of one of the city’s top stars to dance on the grave.
Miami (+2.5) would go onto lose 110-92—the fourth consecutive defeat for a Heat team that looked like a title favorite until the last week proved otherwise.

Notre Dame locked itself into the second seed of the ACC Tournament with its regular-season finale win over Pittsburgh. The question now is whether the Irish already have made enough of a case to make the NCAA Tournament, or if they need a strong showing in Brooklyn to sway a few selection committee members. Almost every college basketball expert has their money on the former. One of them is ESPN’S Jeff Borzello:
Feels like the bubble has stabilized as the weekend nears its end.
I thought San Francisco, North Carolina, Wyoming, Xavier, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Memphis, Rutgers were all on the right side of the cutline entering the weekend — and they all won.
While Borzello’s opinion won’t influence the committee one way or another, it definitely is encouraging to see takes like this about the Irish with only a week to go until Selection Sunday. It also shouldn’t be surprising because the Irish consistently have played strong basketball since the middle of December. If the ACC wasn’t having a down year by its standards, the Irish already would be considered a lock. Then again, nothing has been easy this year, so another week of sweating it out couldn’t hurt.

James Harden will help 25 local businesses in Brooklyn at his next Adidas shoe launch.
James Harden always made sure to give back to the community in his time in Houston. Now in Brooklyn, James Harden will be helping 25 local minority-owned businesses in the Brooklyn community in his next Adidas shoe launch, according to ESPN’s Nick DePaula.
The Beard told DePaula, “it’s a short window since I’ve been here, but I feel like myself and Adidas are going to try to make an impact and footprint on this beautiful city because Brooklyn deserves it.”
“Rather than splash flashy billboards all around Brooklyn to promote the sneaker, the brand says, it is directing allof its budgeted media funds for the launch to the designated local businesses “to make a positive impact in difficult times.”
One-time Cuba amateur star Frank Sanchez said he’s ready to take on Anthony Joshua even though he’s had only 15 pro fights.
Frank Sanchez is one of the more intriguing up-and-coming heavyweights in the world.
The one-time Cuban amateur star, who reportedly won more than 200 amateur fights, might be as skillful and fluid as any big man in the world. He also has good size (6-foot-4, 222.25 in his last fight), although he’ll probably add some bulk. And he’s only 27, which is young for a heavyweight.
Sanchez (15-0, 11 KOs) has only 15 pro fights but already is ranked No. 10 by one sanctioning body. And he believes he’s ready to fight that organization’s champion, Anthon Joshua.
“I’m ready to beat Anthony Joshua one thousand percent, right now,” Sanchez told BoxingScene.com. “I’ve seen the way he fights and I know of my capabilities,” Sanchez told BoxingScene.com in an interview. “I have the base and amateur background, and that’s helpful. Being with trainer Eddy Reynoso and using new techniques that are used in the pro ranks. It’s really helped and added to my professional career.
“Because of my style, and that I beat a guy that beat him, I feel confident that I can beat Joshua.”
Sanchez missed out on the chance to represent his native country in the 2016 Olympics when the powers that be selected rival Erislandy Savon instead. Soon afterward, he defected through Mexico to the U.S. to began a new life.
“The Cuban Flash” hit the ground running in terms of boxing, rolling over everyone placed in front of him. He’s coming off a near-shutout 10-round decision over durable veteran Joey Dawejko on the Adam Kownacki-Robert Helenius card on March 7 in Brooklyn, which gave him national exposure. That was Sanchez’s first fight with Reynoso.
Guadalupe Valenica, Sanchez’s advisor, believes his fighter is ready for anyone.
“If we received a call from any fighter of the highest level to fight Frank, we would undoubtedly put him in there and feel confident that he would beat them,” Valencia told BoxingScene.com. “With Frank’s amateur experience and the newfound component of Eddy Reynoso, Frank has the tools to fight anybody and compete at the highest levels.
“I have not seen him lose a round ever since he became a professional fighter. He’s one of those guys that doesn’t need a lot of professional fights to [become world champion].”
