Twitter reacts to Broncos fans taking over Chargers’ stadium

Broncos fans were out in full force at SoFi Stadium for Denver’s “road game” against the Chargers on Sunday.

Denver Broncos fans showed up in strong numbers for the team’s “road” game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to the Broncos having so many fans in attendance against their division rival.

Broncos fan shares perfect reaction to ‘tale of two kicks’ after crazy ‘Monday Night Football’ ending

Everyone in Broncos Country had this same reaction on Monday night.

The Denver Broncos defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-22 in a wild Monday Night Football game in Week 10.

In a game that featured five turnovers, 15 penalties and two botched extra-point attempts, the Broncos came out on top, but not before some last-second shenanigans.

Trailing the Bills by one point, Denver lined up for a potentially game-winning 41-yard field goal attempt. Broncos kicker Wil Lutz missed the kick, seemingly sealing a loss for Denver.

But wait, there’s a flag!

Buffalo was penalized for having 12 men on the field, giving the Broncos a second chance to win the game. Lutz converted the ensuing 36-yard attempt to give Denver a 24-22 victory on the road.

Our good friend and Broncos fan Jess Place (@jezru on Twitter/X) of Mile High Report summed up the experience with a perfect tweet captioned, “A tale of two kicks.” Place showed photos after each of Lutz’s field goal attempts that summed up how fans in Denver felt on Monday night:

3 things attracted Sean Payton to the Broncos

“Throughout the process of interviewing, it still came back to that triangle of front office, ownership, and then a passionate fan base.”

The Denver Broncos introduced Sean Payton as their new head coach at an introductory press conference last week.

The hire was a big addition for the Broncos, who now have a Super Bowl-coach in charge of their program. Before hiring Payton, Denver first had to work out a trade with the New Orleans Saints, where Payton was technically still under contract for two more seasons.

The draft picks involved in the trade won’t officially change hands until the NFL’s new league year begins on March 15, but the Broncos were allowed to officially hire Payton well before then.

When he met the media in Denver for the first time, Payton made it clear that three big elements of Broncos Country attracted him to the team.

Broncos fans left Thursday’s game before overtime even started

Thoughts on this, Broncos fans?

Denver Broncos fans are clearly fed up with the team’s offense.

After six years of underwhelming performances, the Broncos seemingly addressed their biggest need this offseason when they brought in quarterback Russell Wilson, who was believed to be the missing piece capable of turning things around.

Instead, the offense has continued to struggle, outside of a few sporadic promising moments. Denver’s offense managed to score just nine points on Thursday and they punted five times.

Wilson was sacked four times and threw two interceptions. The offense looked so poor that when the game was set to go into overtime tied at 9-9, some Broncos fans started to leave before the extra period even started.

And before the early exits, Denver fans booed Wilson and the offense multiple times after various miscues. It’s become very clear that the fans are fed up with the product the Broncos have been putting on the field.

Denver had 4,965 no-shows at Thursday’s game. If the offense doesn’t turn things around quickly, the team’s 76,125-seat stadium might begin to see even worse attendance in the coming weeks.

Nathaniel Hackett responds to boos from Broncos fans

Broncos fans booed the offense and began counting down the play clock after a pair of delay of game penalties in Week 2.

Nathaniel Hackett’s off to a rocky start with the Denver Broncos.

After questionable decision-making arguably cost the team a chance to win their season opener last week, Hackett did get a win in his home debut on Sunday, but it certainly wasn’t pretty.

Denver defeated the Houston Texans 16-9 in Week 2, but the score shouldn’t have been that close. The Broncos went 0-2 in the red zone (after going 0-4 inside the 20-yard line last week) and the team’s offense continued to look sloppy and discombobulated.

Fans at Empower Field at Mile High grew so discontent that they booed their own team on Sunday. After the game, Hackett was asked about those boos.

“I would be booing myself; I was getting very frustrated,” the coach said. “We get down to the red zone two times. Don’t get another touchdown, which is unbelievably frustrating. I don’t think we have scored in there yet. That’s something that all of our guys have to step it up. Whether we run the ball more, whatever we’re doing, we just have to execute at a higher level.”

After Denver committed two delay of game penalties, fans later began counting down the play clock. Helpful, but also likely done in part to mock the team. Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson had a diplomatic response to the count down after the win.

“Yeah, I guess that was helpful if needed,” Wilson said. “I guess they do that in basketball sometimes — you know I’ve been around some basketball players and stuff like that. You know, this crowd was amazing tonight.

“Once again, how they were especially when the defense was out there with the game on the line — I know how hard that is as a quarterback hearing all of that noise and all that tenacity. That was great that our fans were really into it and just a great football crowd for sure.”

Wilson’s flattery won’t make fans forget their frustrations. Hackett’s right — the offense deserved to be booed. Now it’s on him to fix it.
