Week 12 broadcast map shows major disrespect to the Lions from FOX

The Week 12 broadcast map shows FOX still thinks Dallas is a major draw and that nobody outside of locals wants to watch the Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFC in 2024. Entering Week 12, the Lions are 9-1, own the best point differential in the league and have become a major draw around the country. The Dallas Cowboys are 3-7, have the third-worst point differential and haven’t been fun to watch outside of wideout CeeDee Lamb being temporarily blinded by a concentrated sunbeam as he tried to catch a pass inside their indoor stadium. Oh yeah, the Lions beat the Cowboys so soundly (47-6) that some affiliates switched off that Week 6 game in the third quarter.

Those facts seem to be lost on FOX, based on the broadcast maps (courtesy 506 Sports) that show how little of the country will get to watch the Lions play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Unless you live in Michigan, Indiana, western Ohio or (weirdly) Tampa, you don’t get the Lions.

Instead, the Cowboys and Washington Commanders are your early broadcast game on the local FOX affiliate. That’s the game FOX chose to anoint as worthy of its top-billed announcing crew of Joe Davis and Greg Olsen, and it will go out to nearly all of the country.

The markets in green get the Lions-Colts, with Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma on the call. Blue areas are what should be a good NFC North matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears. The red areas–nearly all of the top media markets–get the quick-fading Cowboys, who are 10.5-point road underdogs against the 7-4 Commanders.

To be fair, Washington is a fun, emerging team with a bright young QB in Jayden Daniels. But we’re going to guess the FOX execs making the decision to force-feed terrible Cowboys football on the masses didn’t pick that game so folks could watch Washington…

Week 10 broadcast map: Will your station carry Saints vs. Falcons?

The New Orleans Saints will look to snap a seven-game losing streak as they face the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, marking their second meeting of the season against the team.

The New Orleans Saints will look to snap a seven-game losing streak as they face the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, marking their second meeting of the season against the team.

According to 506 Sports, the Atlanta vs. New Orleans contest will be carried by the majority of the states in the southeastern United States, including large parts of Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.

FOX will carry the broadcast, and the game will obviously be bailable on the local channels pertinent to Georgia and Louisiana, the home states of the two teams playing here.

The Saints and the Falcons are set to kick off at Noon CT/1 p.m. ET on Sunday from the Caesars Superdome. This was a close game the first time this season that the two teams met, but it is expected to be a potential runaway for Atlanta in this upcoming meeting.

Lions vs. Texans broadcast map: Where will the Week 10 game be on TV?

Lions vs. Texans broadcast map: Will the Wek 10 game be on TV?

The Lions are set to head to Houston for a Sunday Night Football clash with C.J. Stroud and the Texans. Kickoff is set for 8:20 P.M. EST Sunday night, November 10. The game will be nationally broadcast on NBC and also stream on Peacock.

Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and Cris Collinsworth (analyst) have the call with Melissa Stark on the sideline.

With the game on Sunday night, the game will obviously be aired across the country so there’s no map, per se, for this game. If you have NBC or Peacock, you can watch the game.

However, thanks to 506 Sports, you can also see what early games you will get in your area. For example, just about all of Michigan will get the Steelers-Commanders game in the early window on CBS, Eagles-Cowboys in the late window on CBS and Patriots-Bears as the single game on FOX. Check out the map for the game on in your area throughout the day Sunday.

Broadcast crew announced for Notre Dame against Navy

The broadcast crew for Notre Dame against Navy has been announced.

The broadcast crew for No. 12 Notre Dame against No. 24 Navy has been announced.

The game will be at noon Eastern time on ABC and the announcing crew will be Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy, and Molly McGrath. McDonough does play-by-play, McElroy is the color analyst, and McGrath will be the sideline reporter.

The contest will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

It’s a key game for Notre Dame. Not only is Navy a long-time traditional rival for the Fighting Irish, but the Midshipmen are 6-0 and present a challenge to an Irish team that is fighting for its playoff life.

Saints’ team doctors have sought advice on treating Derek Carr’s injury

The Saints’ doctors can’t just keep doing what they’ve been doing. They consulted with Texas after Quinn Ewers suffered the same injury as Derek Carr:

The New Orleans Saints will be without starting quarterback Derek Carr for  a few more weeks, which gives Spencer Rattler an opportunity to learn on the job and take more live reps. But it’s not like the Saints are planning to keep Carr on ice forever. They want him back in the lineup, and their doctors have been doing their homework to devise the best plan for treating his oblique muscle injury.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers suffered a similar oblique strain, which is an unusual injury for a football player. But the school’s medical staff treated him well and Ewers only missed two games, plus a bye week, before returning against Oklahoma in the “Red River Rivalry” game. Ewers scored a touchdown pass and ran for another score in the Longhorns’ 34-3 rout on Saturday.

And on the broadcast, FOX Sports sideline reporter Holly Rowe shared an interesting footnote. She said the Saints had reached out to consult with Texas’ doctors on how they treated Ewers so effectively.

“It’s such a rare injury, it’s actually something that we see in baseball pitchers and volleyball players,” Rowe said, misspeaking and calling Carrr by his older brother’s name, “Actually David Carr in the NFL had a similar injury, they reached out to Texas this week to find out how they’re treating him, treating Quinn Ewers, because he has looked good. A lot of different techniques.”

That misstep aside (it’s not the first time the Carr brothers have been confused for one another, and it won’t be the last), this is good information. There’s nothing unusual about medical professionals consulting with each other especially for rare conditions like this one. The best surgeons in the world still sit through seminars and visit universities for workshops to learn how to better treat their patients.

But that hasn’t stopped fans on social media from laughing at the Saints’ expense — what kind of sports doctors can’t treat sports injuries? That seems to be a negative response due to all the frustration the team has had with injuries over the years, which is a little unfair. It would be more concerning if the Saints weren’t looking for help when working outside their area of expertise. They can’t just keep doing what they’ve been doing and hope for different results.

Week 3 broadcast map: how to watch Seahawks vs. Dolphins

Week 3 broadcast map: how to watch Seahawks vs. Dolphins

The Seattle Seahawks are back in the friendly confines of Lumen Field this weekend to host the Miami Dolphins. It will be Miami’s first trip back to Seattle since Week 1 of the 2016 season, where the Seahawks prevailed with a narrow 12-10 victory.

The Dolphins will sadly be shorthanded, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been placed on the Injured Reserve list with yet another concussion. However, the Dolphins have more than enough talent to provide the Seahawks with a considerable challenge. Seattle should not take this matchup lightly, even with backup Skylar Thompson at the helm.

The Seahawks are playing their third-consecutive AFC team, and are once again going to be featured on a CBS broadcast. They will be kicking off at 1:05 PM, Pacific Daylight Time. Below is the national broadcast map for the afternoon slate of NFL games. Fittingly, the green represents the areas of the country that will witness the Seahawks and Dolphins game, per 506sports.com.

On the call for CBS will be Kevin Harlan and Trent Green.

Be sure to follow @TheSeahawksWire or @KoleMusgrove23 during the game for live updates, analysis and highlights.

Greg Olsen, Joe Davis on the call for Saints vs. Eagles in Week 3

Greg Olsen and Joe Davis are on the call, with Pam Oliver reporting from the sidelines on the FOX Sports broadcast of Saints vs. Eagles in Week 3:

We already know that FOX Sports is casting a wide net for Week 3’s matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles — TV broadcast coverage extends all throughout the Southeast and up both coasts, and there will be a lot of eyes on this game. But who will we be listening to on the call?

Depending on who you ask, the FOX Sports A Team. Greg Olsen and Joe Davis will be in the broadcast booth with Pam Oliver reporting from the sidelines at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday. Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt’s crew is the network’s A Team, on paper, but Brady’s lackluster performance on the mic has led to a lot of viewers asking for Olsen. He and Davis have made for a popular B Team at FOX.

The three-time Pro Bowl tight end was a big-time rival of the Saints’ for years with the Carolina Panthers, and he’s transitioned well to a role in the media. Olsen has gained a lot of fans for his ability to play up dramatic moments in games as naturally as he breaks down why something is so impressive from a schematic point of view. So Saints fans could be in for a treat with Olsen sharing his commentary this Sunday.

Broadcast map for Lions vs. Buccaneers shows a small footprint

Broadcast map for Lions vs. Buccaneers shows a small footprint for a great matchup

Detroit and Tampa Bay renew hostilities on Sunday afternoon at Ford Field. It’s a playoff rematch pitting unbeaten teams and two NFC front-runners against one another in an early-season tilt that could very well have significant postseason seeding ramifications.

Despite all that being true, the game will only be available in the early Sunday window in very limited television markets.

The Lions vs. Buccaneers will be the local FOX affiliate game in the markets in orange on the map below (courtesy 506 Sports). Hopefully the use of Tampa Bay’s older color is simply a coincidence. Kevin Kugler and Daryl Johnston will have the broadcast call for FOX.

It’s a relatively small distribution for a game that is a rematch of the NFC Divisional Round eight months ago. Detroit won that game at home, 31-23. The game in red is a duel between the Saints and Cowboys, while the darker blue is Indianapolis at Green Bay.

Tom Brady on the call for FOX broadcast of Saints-Cowboys

Tom Brady is on the call for Saints-Cowboys. His FOX broadcasting debut drew mixed debuts, but Brady should have a lot to talk about come Sunday:

Tom Brady will be headed to AT&T Stadium with the FOX Sports broadcast team to announce this week’s New Orleans Saints matchup against the  Dallas Cowboys, per Saints News Network’s John Hendrix. He’ll be joined in the booth by Kevin Burkhardt on play-by-play with Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi reporting from the sidelines.

This will be Brady’s first coverage of a Saints game. It will be very interesting to see how much insight Brady can provide especially with the intricacies of Klint Kubiak’s scheme. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon CT/1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 15. Brady’s debut in last week’s Cowboys game drew mixed reviews.

The Saints and Brady have a unique history with each other that was only amplified when he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. All-time, Brady is 7-5 against the Saints marking his third-lowest win percentage amongst all teams. Four of these five losses came within his last three seasons. This had much to do with Dennis Allen always coming up with an excellent defensive game plan to try to limit one of the best the league has seen.

Brady should have a lot to talk about come Sunday.
