WATCH: Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb discuss Dolphins’ chemistry

They also touch on the trials of football, rookie dinners, charity and life outside of the game.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Brennan Scarlett has been working hard on his off-field projects, including “B Scar TV,” his YouTube show where he interviews guests around the game of football.

This weekend, Scarlett was joined by Dolphins teammates Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb and Cameron Goode to discuss a number of topics, ranging from rookie dinners to the team’s chemistry this past season.

Scarlett’s show gives fans a great, inside look at the players under the helmet and pads, as we get glimpses of personalities that we don’t get to see as often as in other sports.

WATCH: Brennan Scarlett, Trent Sherfield discuss Dolphins’ culture

“It’s so easy to come to work.”

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Trent Sherfield is no stranger to the Mike McDaniel experience. Before signing a one-year deal this past offseason, the wideout spent 2021 with the coach in San Francisco.

Sherfield’s seen how the coach’s energy is infectious in the locker room with the players. While he didn’t see what things were like in Miami under head coach Brian Flores for the three years prior, others, like linebacker Brennan Scarlett, can attest to the major shift.

Last week, Scarlett, on his podcast “B Scar TV,” had Sherfield on as a guest, and the pair talked about a wide range of topics, including the Dolphins’ culture, and how they focus on having fun playing the game that they love.

While winning, making money and staying healthy are other important factors going through players’ heads, it’s great to know that McDaniel is allowing them to be themselves and enjoy the process.

Dolphins elevate QB Mike Glennon, LB Brennan Scarlett for Week 18

Glennon could be the backup or third-string.

With just one week remaining in the 2022 regular season, the Miami Dolphins have brought two players up from the practice squad, quarterback Mike Glennon and linebacker Brennan Scarlett, to try and help with their playoff push.

With Tua Tagovailoa dealing with a concussion and Teddy Bridgewater sustaining a pinkie injury on his throwing hand, Miami is leaning on rookie Skylar Thompson. Glennon may back up Thompson if Bridgewater is unable to go, but he’ll at least be third string.

Scarlett has trained at both edge and linebacker, so he provides some versatility for a Dolphins front that’s taking on an injury-riddled Jets offensive line and an immobile quarterback in Joe Flacco.

Dolphins sign LB Brennan Scarlett to practice squad

An old friend comes back to South Florida.

The Miami Dolphins had an open spot on their practice squad this week after rookie defensive lineman Ben Stille was signed to the Cleveland Browns active roster.

According to the NFL’s transaction wire, Miami is filling Stille’s spot by signing linebacker Brennan Scarlett.

Scarlett, 29, spent the 2021 season as a member of the Dolphins, recording 19 tackles and a forced fumble.

He was re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason, but an injury landed him on injured reserve prior to the start of the regular season. Miami and Scarlett agreed to a settlement back in September, making him a free agent again.

Scarlett did some work on the edge throughout the offseason and preseason, so there’s a chance he could help assuage the loss of Emmanuel Ogbah at some point down the stretch.

Report: Dolphins release LB Brennan Scarlett from IR

He would’ve missed the whole season had he remained on injured reserve.

When the Miami Dolphins were making their final cuts to get their roster down from 80 players to 53, linebacker Brennan Scarlett was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury which was set to end his season.

However, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Dolphins and Scarlett have reached an injury settlement that has resulted in the linebacker’s release.

Scarlett is now a free agent and is able to sign with any team that he wants, but Jackson does mention that he’s expected to be healthy about midway through the season.

He was only on a one-year contract that he signed this offseason, so Scarlett was a candidate to leave in free agency next year anyway.

Dolphins place LB Brennan Scarlett on injured reserve

He had missed the last two preseason games.

The Miami Dolphins are continuing their roster cuts, as they must get down to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, per the NFL’s protocols.

According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Dolphins have released linebacker Brennan Scarlett. Scarlett came to Miami last offseason as a free agent, recording 19 tackles in 13 games with a majority of his work coming on special teams.

EDIT: The Dolphins actually announced that Scarlett is being placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

The former Stanford Cardinal efforted a switch to an edge role this offseason, but an injury kept him out of practice and the last two preseason matchups.

Be sure to keep up with all of Miami’s roster moves via the cutdown tracker.

Report: Brennan Scarlett has worked at a different position this offseason

It’s all about versatility.

The Miami Dolphins returned nearly all of their linebackers from last season, even though most were hitting free agency.

Miami re-signed Elandon Roberts, Sam Eguavoen, Duke Riley and Brennan Scarlett. They, once again, joined Jerome Baker, Andrew Van Ginkel and Jaelan Phillips in the linebacker room. Rookies Channing Tindall and Cameron Goode were drafted, and veteran Melvin Ingram signed late to round out the group.

Scarlett, who is set to enter his second season with the Dolphins, has apparently been working out a position other than linebacker. According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, Scarlett has been “working a lot at defensive end.”

During his career, Scarlett has played mostly outside linebacker. According to Pro Football Focus, Scarlett lined up outside on 114 of his 155 snaps in 2021. Before last season, the numbers were even higher, but he had also played more inside the box.

With all of the linebackers and defensive ends competing not only for snaps but also for jobs this season in South Florida, this type of versatility could make Scarlett more valuable to the coach and front office as they pare down the roster throughout the preseason.
