Report: Dolphins release LB Brennan Scarlett from IR

He would’ve missed the whole season had he remained on injured reserve.

When the Miami Dolphins were making their final cuts to get their roster down from 80 players to 53, linebacker Brennan Scarlett was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury which was set to end his season.

However, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Dolphins and Scarlett have reached an injury settlement that has resulted in the linebacker’s release.

Scarlett is now a free agent and is able to sign with any team that he wants, but Jackson does mention that he’s expected to be healthy about midway through the season.

He was only on a one-year contract that he signed this offseason, so Scarlett was a candidate to leave in free agency next year anyway.
