The Braves’ 5-4 victory Thursday night was their 7th consecutive win over Washington. They bounced back after dropping 2 of 3 to the Mets in their previous series.

The Nationals have now lost 7 games in a row and 14 of their last 15. They have the 9th-best team batting average (.249) in the league, but they’ve scored the 4th-fewest runs (350).

Braves at Nationals projected starters

RHP Ian Anderson vs. LHP Patrick Corbin

Anderson (7-5, 4.98 ERA) makes his 18th start. He has a 1.51 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 7.7 K/9 in 86 2/3 IP.

  • The Braves are 11-6 in his 17 starts, winning his last 2 outings over the Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals.
  • He’s just 1-2 in his last 4 starts, allowing 14 ER in 16 1/3 IP.

Corbin (4-11, 5.70 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.67 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 in 94 2/3 IP.

  • Corbin has allowed 4 runs or fewer in each of his last 4 starts, but the Nationals are just 1-3 in those games.
  • In his last outing Saturday against the Braves, he allowed 4 runs and 8 hits in 6 innings in a 4-3 loss.

Braves at Nationals picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Nationals 3

Money line

The money line is a little bit cheaper Friday than it was Thursday, mostly because of the pitching matchup being less lopsided. At -175, the Braves are still a little expensive, but they’re worth including in a parlay, given their 8-2 record and 7 straight wins over the Nationals.

But alone, I would PASS on the Braves ML.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves barely failed to cover the spread Thursday, going into the 9th inning with a 5-3 lead. Nationals 3B Maikel Franco clubbed a solo shot over RP Kenley Jansen to make the finals score 5-4.

I’m going back to the well with the BRAVES -1.5 (-108) to cover the spread Friday against a struggling Nationals team.

Over/Under

The total went Under Thursday after the line was set at 9.5 – just barely. The Braves don’t have their ace on the mound, but Corbin offers a bit more Friday than Anibal Sanchez did on Thursday.

Bet the UNDER 9.5 (-115) again in this one.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (53-37) and Washington Nationals (30-60) will square off once again Thursday in the 1st of a 4-game set to close out the first half of the season. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. ET from Nationals Park. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Braves lead 7-2 after sweeping the Nationals last weekend. Atlanta has outscored Washington 66-37 in the 9 games.

The Braves have been on a hot streak, going 7-3 in their last 10 games. They haven’t lost back-to-back games since June 17-18, going 16-8 since then. They’ve closed the gap on the Mets in the NL East, sitting just 2.5 games behind.

The Nationals are trending in the opposite direction and are tied for the worst record in baseball with the Oakland Athletics. They’ve lost 6 in a row and have won only 1 of their last 13 games.

Braves at Nationals projected starters

RHP Kyle Wright vs. RHP Anibal Sanchez

Wright (10-4, 2.97 ERA) makes his 18th start. He has a 1.16 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 in 103 IP.

  • The Braves have won the last 4 starts by Wright, who has allowed 8 runs in 23 1/3 innings during that stretch.
  • Last start: Won 4-3 Saturday vs. Nationals with 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 BB and 5 K.

Sanchez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 1st start since 2020.

  • Sat out the entire 2021 season and has been out this year with a cervical nerve impingement.
  • In 2020, he went 4-5 with a 6.62 ERA.

Braves at Nationals picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Nationals 3

Money line

The Braves absolutely should win this game against a pitcher who hasn’t taken the mound in nearly 2 years. Sanchez probably won’t pitch very deep into the game, but the Braves are red hot and the Nationals, well, are not.

But I’m not going to bet on the money line at -210. It’s just too juiced unless you’re including it in a parlay. PASS.

Win your fantasy baseball league with BaseballHQ.com. For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! Use the couple code SBW22 for 20% OFF full-season subscription. New customer offer; expires 8/31/2022. Subscribe today and start winning!

Run line/Against the spread

Even against the spread, the Braves’ line is juiced a bit at -130. You could wait and see if it comes down a little, but even at -130, I like the BRAVES -1.5 (-130) to win and cover.

They’re only 44-46 ATS this season, but it’s way better than the Nationals’ 39-51 mark, which is 2nd-worst in the league.

Over/Under

The UNDER 9.5 (-125) is the obvious play, but once again that line is expensive. The Braves are winning but they’re not knocking the cover off the ball by any means, scoring 4 runs or fewer in each of their last 5 games. They should break that trend Thursday, but the Nationals aren’t going to put up many runs against Wright.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (36-27) and Washington Nationals (23-41) close out their 3-game series at Nationals Park Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Atlanta leads 3-2. The team next meet July 8-10 in Atlanta.

The Braves have scored 19 runs in taking the first 2 games of this series. They are undefeated (13-0) since the calendar flipped to June. Atlanta clubbed 5 home runs Monday and 5 more Tuesday and have hit 32 HR in the 13-game win streak.

Washington is 5-10 in its last 15 games. The Nationals have scored a respectable 4.33 runs per game over that stretch, but their pitching has been woeful with a Boeing 7.17 ERA along the way.

Braves at Nationals projected starters

RHP Spencer Strider vs. RHP Erick Fedde

Strider (2-2, 2.35 ERA) has appeared in 14 games while making 3 starts. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 13.4 K/9 in 38 1/3 IP.

  • Has allowed just 1 run over 9 2/3 IP in his last 2 starts.
  • Threw a season-high 92 pitches in his June 10 win vs. Pittsburgh Pirates (5 2/3, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB and 8 K).

Fedde (4-4, 4.87 ERA) makes his 13th start. He has a 1.50 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 in 57 1/3 IP.

  • Has a 5.93 ERA, 1.65 WHIP over his last 6 starts.
  • Current Atlanta batters own an aggregate 1.080 OPS against him.

Braves at Nationals picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Nationals 4

Money line

Fedde has been hurt by a .356 batting average on balls in play. Peg the Nats’ bullpen as being better than the sloppy surface numbers being logged so far, and the back end of that pen is well rested heading into this series finale.

But Atlanta is on a heater: best to LAY OFF or wait out a Washington price of +165 or better.

Run line/Against the spread

Neither one of these clubs have played in a lot of 1-run games, but the NATIONALS +1.5 (-108) is the best value on the sides as listed.

Over/Under

Plenty of ammo can be fired by both the Over and Under camps. Don’t get caught in the crossfire on a 25-cent line. PASS.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (35-27) and Washington Nationals (23-40) meet for the middle contest of a 3-game series at National Park. Tuesday’s game is slated for a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: tied 2-2.

The Braves took Monday’s opener 9-5 and are undefeated (12-0) since the calendar flipped to June. Atlanta clubbed 5 home runs Monday and has 9 HR in the last 2 games and 27 over the 12-game win streak.

Washington is 5-9 across its last 14 games. The Nationals have tallied a respectable 4.36 runs per game over that stretch, but their pitching has been woeful with an untenable 6.96 ERA along the span.

Braves at Nationals projected starters

LHP Max Fried vs. RHP Jackson Tetreault

Fried (6-2, 2.64 ERA) has clocked a 1.04 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 through 75 IP in 12 starts this season.

  • Owns a 1.38 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over his last 4 starts.
  • Has notched a 3.00 ERA over his last 5 starts against the Nats.
  • Current Washington batters own an aggregate .606 OPS against him.
  • Owns a 1.67 road ERA this season and a 2.57 ERA away from home since 2020.

Tetreault is a 26-year-old right-hander being called up from Triple-A for his Major League debut.

  • Replacing the injured Stephen Strasburg in the Nationals’ rotation.
  • Owns a 4.19 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 58 Triple-A innings this season.

Braves at Nationals picks and predictions

Prediction

Nationals 4, Braves 3

Money line

Not a bad price here. Tag it as a partial-unit lean, but more conservative bettors may want to try the run line against a hot Atlanta club.

BACK WASHINGTON (+180).

Run line/Against the spread

TAKE WASHINGTON +1.5 (+110).

Tetreault struggled in his last start but recently put together a 1.42 ERA across his 6 prior Minor League starts.

Over/Under

As was the case Monday — when the Over his easily — the O/U offering makes for the strongest wagering opportunity in this matchup. Both clubs have underlying pitching numbers that spell better days ahead. That’s especially true for the bullpens.

Washington’s offense has struggled mightily at home. The lean is dulled by the Nats starting a rookie on the mound

BACK THE UNDER 8.5 (+105), but consider a partial-unit play.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (34-27) and Washington Nationals (23-39) swing into a 3-game series in the national’s capital. Monday’s series opener is slated for a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Washington leads 2-1.

The Braves are undefeated since the calendar flipped to June. Atlanta has not lost in 11 June games and has banged out a .283/.340/.538 (.877 OPS) slash line in the process. The club hit 4 home runs Sunday vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates and has clubbed multiple round-trippers in 7 of the 11 straight wins.

The Nationals returned from a rough 3-7 road trip Friday, but they were solid in taking 2 of 3 from the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend. Washington is 6-2 over its last 8 games at home.

Braves at Nationals projected starters

RHP Ian Anderson vs. RHP Josiah Gray

Anderson (5-3, 4.53 ERA) has logged a 1.39 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 through 59 2/3 IP in 11 starts.

  • His walk and HR rates are higher than they were when he clocked a 3.25 ERA in 30 starts in 2020-21. His ground ball rate is also lower.
  • Posted a 6.62 ERA, 1.53 WHIP in 3 starts May 22-June 2, but allowed just 2 R in 6 IP in his last effort June 8 vs. Oakland.

Gray (6-4, 4.33 ERA) has made 12 starts for the Nats. He has a 1.32 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 in 62 1/3 IP.

  • Is a fly-ball pitcher (24.2% ground-ball rate) and has been hurt by a 17.3% of fly balls leaving the yard (around 11% is average).
  • The 2nd-year player has struggled in home games (6.59 ERA in 72 1/3 IP).

Prediction

Nationals 4, Braves 3

Money line

Gray has yielded just 2 ER in his last 16 IP. He’s logged a 2.25 ERA against these Braves across a trio of starts the last 2 seasons.

Atlanta has gone on just 4 road trips so far this season. In the openers, they are 1-3 and have been outscored 22-9.

The price here is solid. Bettors who want a fade with an asterisk in going against a hot streak can leverage WASHINGTON +1.5 (-125).
