Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (57-49) and the Milwaukee Brewers (61-46) wrap up a 3-game series Wednesday. First pitch from American Family Field is at 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Braves picked up a 5-1 victory Tuesday, cashing as -102 underdogs with the Under (8.5) connecting. Atlanta has won 5 of the past 6 head-to-head meetings since July 23, 2023, while the Over has cashed in 4 of the past 5 in the series.

Atlanta has scored 25 runs in the past 5 games, or 5.0 runs per game (RPG). Braves pitching has allowed 6 or more runs in 5 of the past 10 outings, yielding 50 runs in the span (5.0 RPG) since July 20. Atlanta is 3-7 in the 10-game stretch, too.

Milwaukee’s offense has been feast or famine lately, scoring 6 or more runs in 5 of the past 11 games, while managing 3 or fewer runs in the other 6 contests. The Over is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games, while the total has gone high at a 5-1-1 clip in the past 7 games at home.

Braves at Brewers projected starters

LHP Chris Sale vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Sale (13-3, 2.68 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 0.92 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 11.4 K/9 through 117 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 7 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 2 H (1 HR), 1 BB, 9 K in 3-2 road loss in 10 innings vs. New York Mets Thursday
  • 2024 road splits: 5-3, 2.66 ERA (61 IP, 18 ER), 0.97 WHIP, .194 opponents’ batting average (OBA), 17 BB, 82 K in 10 starts
  • Career vs. Brewers: 1-0, 1.13 ERA (16 IP, 2 ER), 0.56 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 2 starts, last facing them in 2015 as member of Chicago White Sox

Peralta (6-6, 3.94 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 11.2 K/9 through 114 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER (5 R), 6 H (2 HR), 5 BB, 4 K in 6-2 home setback vs. Miami Marlins Friday
  • 2024 home splits: 3-3, 4.55 ERA (55 1/3 IP, 28 ER), 1.21 WHIP, .246 OBA, 15 BB, 70 K in 10 starts
  • Career vs. Braves (regular season): 3-2, 4.45 ERA (28 1/3 IP, 14 ER), 1.31 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 6 appearances (5 starts)

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Brewers 1

Moneyline

The BRAVES (-134) are a solid play behind the All-Star Sale in this series finale.

While the Brewers (+114) are in 1st place in the NL Central, and 1 of just 3 teams in the NL with 60+ wins, Milwaukee is a very ordinary 14-14 in 28 tries against left-handed starting pitchers.

Run line/Against the spread

If you’re a little less on the conservative side, instead of the moneyline, go with Braves -1.5 (+136) at plus-money.

Atlanta has 3 wins in the past 4 outings, and each of the victories have been by 4 or more runs. So, if you like the Braves, you should like them to cover the run line.

Over/Under

UNDER 7 (-110) is the play, as scoring should be at a premium with 2 solid pitchers on the hill.

The total has gone low at a 6-4 pace in the past 10 road games for the Braves, and the Under is 3-2 in the past 5 starts by the veteran Sale.

For the Brewers, while the Over is 3-1-1 in the past 5 games, the Under is 4-3-1 across the previous 8 outings. The Milwaukee offense has managed 3 or fewer runs in 6 of the past 8 tries.

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (56-49) take on the Milwaukee Brewers (61-45) Tuesday in the 2nd game of a 3-game set at American Family Field at 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Brewers lead 1-0

The roof fell in on the Braves’ bullpen Monday, as they allowed 7 runs from the 6th inning on to fall 8-3. They’re now 2-7 over their last 9 games as they’ve fallen into the fray of the Wild Cards with 5 teams within 2½ games of them.

The Brewers are now 7-3 over their last 10 games and recently got closer Devin Williams back from the IL. They have yet to announce a starter, and they could be going with a bullpen game as they await RHP Frankie Montas‘ arrival after he was acquired Monday.

Braves at Brewers projected starters

RHP Bryce Elder vs. TBD

Elder (1-4, 6.35 ERA) makes his 9th start. He has a 1.64 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 through 39 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 6 ER, 8 H, 1 BB, 9 K in 9-5 home defeat July 20 against St. Louis Cardinals
  • Two career starts vs. Brewers: 1-0, 2.08 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 5 K in 13 IP

The Brewers have the 3rd-best bullpen ERA in baseball at 3.30.

  • The Brewers are 10th with a 3.79 team ERA in July
  • Brewers are expected to activate RHP Joe Ross (2-4, 4.50 ERA), who could potentially start Tuesday

  • Moneyline (ML): Braves +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Brewers -125 (bet $125 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves +1.5 (-185) | Brewers -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 9 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Brewers 4

Moneyline

I just can’t wrap my head around the Brewers at -125 in a bullpen game against the Braves. Atlanta has been decimated with injuries, but we’re still talking about a team that posted 4+ runs in 3 straight before Monday’s 8-3 loss.

I’ll take the value with BRAVES +105.

Run line/Against the spread

DH Marcell Ozuna hit his 31st homer of the season Monday, and he continues to drive the offense. He has hit safely in 4 straight games, and he has homered in 3 of them.

Take MARCELL OZUNA OVER 1.5 H+R+RBI (-110).

Over/Under

The Brewers are 6-3-1 O/U over their last 10, and the Braves are 5-5. The last 4 meetings have sailed way Over the total. With those trends in mind, and the uncertainty on the mound, take the OVER 9 (-120).

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (56-48) and Milwaukee Brewers (60-45) open a 3-game set at American Family Field Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Braves won 5-1 last year

The Braves split 4 games at the New York Mets Thursday through Sunday. They wrapped up the series with a 9-2 win as -101 underdogs as the Over (8.5) hit. Braves 1B Matt Olson homered for the 2nd time in as many games, but All-Star RHP Reynaldo López (forearm) was forced to leave after tossing 3 shutout innings.

The Brewers are coming off a 6-2 win as -203 home favorites against the Miami Marlins Sunday with the total (8) pushing. Brewers 1B Jake Bauers homered and tripled for Milwaukee, which avoided getting swept in 3 games by the Marlins.

Braves at Brewers projected starters

RHP Grant Holmes vs. RHP Colin Rea

Holmes (0-0, 2.70 ERA) makes his 1st start and 11th appearance. The 28-year-old rookie has a 0.94 WHIP, 1.9 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 in 23 1/3 innings.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 3 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K in relief appearance of 9-4 home loss vs. Cincinnati Reds Wednesday
  • 2024 road stats: 0-0, 2.45 ERA (7 1/3 IP, 2 ER), 1.23 WHIP, 3.7 K/9 in 4 relief appearances
  • Never faced Brewers before

Rea (9-3, 3.60 ERA) makes his 18th start and 21st appearance. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 110 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 8 K in 1-0 win at Chicago Cubs Tuesday
  • 2024 home stats: 6-2, 3.70 ERA (58 1/3 IP, 24 ER), 1.03 WHIP, 7.7 K/9 in 10 appearances (9 starts)
  • Career vs. Braves: 1-0, 5.09 ERA (17 2/3 IP, 10 ER), 1.19 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 3 starts, including 0-0 with 9.00 ERA (5 IP, 5 ER) in 1 start last year

Braves at Brewers odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Braves +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Brewers -120 (bet $120 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves +1.5 (-210) | Brewers -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Brewers 3

Moneyline

The BRAVES (+100) should be able to overcome their disadvantage at starting pitcher. They’re coming off back-to-back victories over the Mets, outscoring New York 13-2. While their rookie starter has only made 10 relief appearances in the majors, he has nearly 10 years of experience in the minors to fall back on.

Milwaukee’s offense has struggled recently, especially since losing All-Star OF Christian Yelich (back) Tuesday. The Brewers have scored 3 runs or fewer in 5 of their last 6 outings and were almost swept in 3 games by the Marlins, the 2nd-worst team in the National League.

BET BRAVES (+100).

Run line/Against the spread

Atlanta +1.5 (-210) is too expensive to play, especially since the line has such a high hold.

PASS. Bet the ML and/or total instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

This total seems a little high. Rea has allowed 2 runs or fewer in 4 of his last 5 outings, and Milwaukee’s offense is averaging just 2.67 runs over the last 6 games. The expectation could be that Holmes will give up a lot of runs since he’s making his 1st MLB start, but he comes in with a lot more experience than the average rookie pitcher.

BET UNDER 8.5 (-105).

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Braves (63-33) will play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers (54-44) Saturday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 1-0

In Friday’s 6-4 victory over the Brewers, 3B Austin Riley hit his 21st home run of the season for the Braves. Atlanta has now won 2 games in a row and is 11 1/2 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for 1st place in the NL East.

Despite losing Friday, SS Willy Adames launched his 17th home run of the season for the Brewers. Friday’s defeat snapped a 2-game winning streak for Milwaukee, though, it is still 1 1/2 games up of the Cincinnati Reds atop the NL Central.

The Braves are expected to activate RHP Allan Winans to make his major-league debut Saturday.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Brewers projected starters

RHP Allan Winans vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Winans (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his major-league debut. He has a 7-3 record with a 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9, and 7.8 K/9 through 102 2/3 IP in Triple-A this season.

  • Has pitched 6 innings or more in 8 of his last 10 appearances in Triple-A.
  • Has notched 6 or more strikeouts in 4 of his last 5 appearances in Triple-A.

Houser (3-2, 3.79 ERA) makes his 11th start. He has a 1.53 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 through 57 IP.

  • Has allowed 6 hits or more in each of his last 3 starts.
  • Owns an 0-3 record with a 3.06 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 6.6 K/9 in 3 career starts (4 appearances) against the Braves.

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 7, Brewers 4

Moneyline

Even with Winans making his first start in the majors, the BRAVES (-140) are the best team in baseball. Atlanta now boasts a 31-14 record on the road compared to Milwaukee having a 26-22 record at home this season.

Run line/Against the spread

BRAVES -1.5 (+120) is almost an automatic wager for me at the current odds. Atlanta has defeated its opponent by 2 or more runs in each of its last 13 victories.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

With Winans making his debut, and Houser not generating many swings and misses, OVER 9.5 (-105) is the play in this contest. Houser is producing a 43.2% hard-hit rate and the Braves have 7 players with a 42.5% hard-hit rate or higher.

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Brewers 4

Moneyline

BET BRAVES (-125).

Even with Atlanta going 5-5 in its last 10 contests, the Braves are the best team in baseball. Getting the Braves at the current odds (-125) is a gift despite Soroka drawing the start.

Run line/Against the spread

BRAVES -1.5 (+135) has fantastic value as Atlanta is always capable of running away with games due to its deep lineup. The Braves have won by at least 2 runs in each of their last 12 victories.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 9.5 (-110) is how I’d bet on the run total with Soroka and Peralta on the mound in this game. Since the start of July, the Braves boast the best ISO (.241), the 8th-best wOBA (.344), and the 8th-best wRC+ (114) against right-handed pitching.

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (16-20) and the Milwaukee Brewers (23-13) clash Tuesday in the second game of a 3-game series at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: The Brewers took the first game in a 1-0 thriller Monday night to tie the season series 2-2.

Brewers RHP Freddy Peralta was dominant with 10 strikeouts and 2 hits allowed over 7 scoreless innings. The Brewers are now 11-4 at home this season. Stud relievers RHP Devin Williams and LHP Josh Hader struck out all 6 batters they faced in the 8th and 9th innings. Neither had pitched for 3 days beforehand, and they could both be available tonight.

The Braves have lost 3 of 4 contests as they have run into some dominant starters. OF Marcell Ozuna has a modest 4-game hit streak with a home run despite the buzzsaws thrown against them. He had 1 of the 2 hits yesterday.

Braves at Brewers projected starters

LHP Tucker Davidson vs. RHP Adrian Houser

Davidson (0-0, 16.88 ERA) makes his 1st start. He has a 2.63 WHIP, 6.8 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 across 2 2/3 IP.

  • All 5 runs he has allowed came in one inning during a long-relief appearance against the Washington Nationals April 11.
  • Is 1-1 with a 4.44 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP and an 11.6 K/9 at Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • Features a 93 mph fastball, slider and curveball.

Houser (3-3, 3.86 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.42 WHIP, 4.5 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 30 1/3 IP.

  • Allowed 7 ER on 13 H and 5 BB with 9 K over 9 IP in consecutive clunkers against the Cincinnati Reds over his last 2 starts.
  • Allowed 2 ER on 2 H and 5 BB with 3 K across 3 IP in his lone start against the Braves last season.

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Brewers 3

Money line

The books are favoring the Brewers here, but this is a trap game. Milwaukee is hitting just .218 against left-handed pitching this season, including 2B Kolten Wong who is hitting just .136 against lefties, and the simple presence of Davidson on the hill could force him out of the lineup to start.

OF Christian Yelich is hitting better against lefties this season, strangely, but he hits 20 points lower against southpaws in his career. 1B Rowdy Tellez is hitting just .227 against lefties. With Houser struggling against the abomination that is the Reds the last 2 starts – LEAN BRAVES (+105) and BRAVES FIRST 5 INNINGS (+130).

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves are 9-6 on the run line on the road this season, and they’re going to be fired up after being shut out yesterday. It’s hard to suggest at this price, but I’d consider Braves +1.5 (-200).

That price probably won’t get any better if Wong, Yelich and/or Tellez are out of the lineup against the lefty. It’s an extremely small sample size, but Braves 3B Austin Riley is 3-for-5 in his career against Houser. Consider Riley Over 1.5 total bases (+125). He has 4 hits in the last 3 games.

Over/Under

Both offenses have been lacking the last few games, and we had a 1-0 game Monday. I expect a couple of Brewers regulars to sit out, and this feels like a direct Under hit. Take the UNDER 8.5 (-125).

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (27-19) host the Atlanta Braves (16-19) Monday for the start of a 3-game set at the American Family Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Atlanta is 5-5 in the last 10 games and lost the rubber match of a 3-game series with the San Diego Padres at home Sunday, 7-3 in extra innings.

Milwaukee is also 5-5 in the last 10, but won the rubber match of its 3-game set at the Miami Marlins Sunday 7-3.

The Braves won 2 of 3 vs. the Brewers May 6-8 and Atlanta outscored Milwaukee 15-10. Also, the Braves eliminated the Brewers 3-1 in the 2021 National League Division Series en route to a World Series title.

Braves at Brewers projected starters

RHP Ian Anderson vs. RHP Freddy Peralta

Anderson is 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 4.8 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 30 IP over 6 starts.

  • Last start: No decision in Atlanta’s 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox with 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 HR, 1 BB and 4 K.
  • 2021 vs. the Brewers: 2-0 with 12 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 BB and 10 K in 2 starts, including the 2021 NLDS.
  • vs. Brewers on the current roster: 3.87 FIP with a .259/.349/.374 expected batting average (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA), slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, 14.3 K% and 84.5 mph exit velocity (EV) in 28 regular-season plate appearances (PA).

Peralta is 2-1 with a 4.40 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 11.9 K/9 in 28 2/3 IP over 6 starts.

  • Last start: Won 5-4 Tuesday at the Cincinnati Reds with 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 8 K.
  • 2021 vs. the Braves: 1-0 with 10 IP, 0 ER, 5 H, 2 BB and 13 K in 2 starts, including the 2021 NLDS.
  • vs. Braves on the current roster: 2.39 FIP with a .245/.335/.427 xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, 24.5 K% and 90.6 mph EV in 49 regular-season PA.

Braves at Brewers picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Braves 2

Money line

TAKE the BREWERS (-145) because their lineup has been on a tear lately and Milwaukee has the pitching edge over the Braves (+120) Monday.

The Brewers are 1st in wOBA (.376), 2nd in both wRC+ (141) and WAR (4.2) over the last 2 weeks, according to FanGraphs. The Braves rank 17th in wOBA (.306), 22nd in wRC+ (94) and 18th in WAR (1.3) over that span.

Peralta has slightly better pitching peripherals than Anderson, both for the season and vs. Monday’s opponent. Finally, Atlanta used its higher leverage relievers in Sunday’s extra-inning affair with the Padres so the Brew Crew could face an easier rotation of Braves relievers.

BET the BREWERS (-145), but I’d only risk 1 unit at that price.

Run line/Against the spread

SPRINKLE on the BREWERS -1.5 (+145), if at all, because I’m high on the Braves +1.5 (-180) for the year and won’t be betting against Atlanta on the RL very often.

But, the Brewers have been raking recently and Milwaukee’s bullpen has a healthy edge because of Atlanta’s bullpen fatigue. Also, the Brewers are 9-5 RL with a plus-1.4 RL margin as home favorites.

Milwaukee’s ML is my preferred wager, but there’s value in the BREWERS -1.5 (+145).

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 7.5 (-105) because both starters are top-of-the-rotation guys and both lineups could be without productive batters.

Braves OF/DH Ronald Acuna Jr., Brewers SS Willy Adames and OF Andrew McCutchen could all miss Monday’s game.

Lastly, there’s a “Pros vs. Joe’s” scenario in the betting market with 80% of the cash on the Under but 80% of the bets placed are on the Over, according to Pregame.com.

Since professional bettors put up more dough than your average Joe, the money column of the betting splits is considered the sharper side of the market.

The Brewers outright is my favorite bet of this game because Milwaukee’s lineup has been red-hot recently, but the UNDER 7.5 (-105) is the only side of the total I’d play.

NLDS Game 2: Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers NLDS Game 2 odds and lines, with expert MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers host the Atlanta Braves Saturday for Game 2 in the best-of-five National League Division Series at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze the lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Milwaukee won Game 1 thanks to 1B Rowdy Tellez’s 2-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Braves OF Joc Pederson smashed a pinch-hit, solo shot in the top of the eighth, but Brewers closing LHP Josh Hader shut the lid on the series opener.

LHP Max Fried gets the start for the Braves. Fried was 14-7 with a 3.04 ERA (165 2/3 IP, 56 ER), 1.09 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 over 28 regular-season starts.

  • Second-half splits: 8-2 with a 1.74 ERA (93 IP, 18 ER), 0.85 WHIP and 5.4 K/BB in 14 starts.
  • Road splits: 7-4 with a 3.14 ERA (83 IP, 29 ER), 1.08 WHIP and 4.6 K/BB in 14 starts.
  • vs. Brewers on the current roster: 3.20 FIP with a .296 batting average (BA), .372 wOBA, .431 expected slugging percentage (xSLG), 18.2 K% and 95.1 mph exit velocity (EV) in 33 plate appearances (PA).

RHP Brandon Woodruff is Milwaukee’s projected starter. Woodruff was 9-10 with a 2.56 ERA (179 1/3 IP, 51 ER), 0.97 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 10.6 K/9 across 30 regular-season starts.

  • Second-half splits: 2-6 with a 3.41 ERA (66 IP, 25 ER), 1.21 WHIP and 4.6 K/BB in 12 starts.
  • Woodruff lost at Atlanta 8-1 July 31 with a stat line of 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 H, 1 BB and 6 K.
  • vs. Braves on the current roster: 5.06 FIP with a .269 BA, .333 wOBA, .503 xSLG, 23.6 K% and 84.2 mph EV in 72 PA.

Prediction

Brewers 4, Braves 2

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the BREWERS (-125) for a half unit because the Under is the wiser wager.

Also, wait closer to the first pitch and we should get a better price on Milwaukee’s money line since around 70% of the cash at the time of publishing is on Atlanta, according to Pregame.com.

The bottom line here is postseason baseball is about pitching and Woodruff is too good of a starter to pass up on the Brewers as a slight favorite.

Woodruff grades in the 88th percentile of the MLB in chase rate and Atlanta’s lineup has the fourth-highest chase rate this month.

Furthermore, the Brewers’ batters rank at the bottom of the league in batting average, wRC+ and wOBA vs left-handed pitching.

But that’s a little misleading and more or less corresponds with their .279 BAbip that ranks 25th. In fact, Milwaukee’s lineup has the seventh-best hard-hit rate and sixth-best BB/K against lefties.

TAKE the BREWERS (-125) to win Game 2 but save some money for the Under.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS because Atlanta has been a lot more profitable in this spot than Milwaukee. The Braves are 25-10 ATS as road underdogs and the Brew Crew are 30-43 ATS as home favorites this year.

On top of that, Milwaukee’s lineup is only giving Woodruff 3.8 runs per game worth of support and Atlanta’s lineup is very good against right-handed pitching. The Braves have the eighth-ranked hard-hit rate and wOBA and 11th-ranked wRC+ vs. righties.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 7.5 (-125) is the best play. Fried has been one of the best starting pitchers in the league following the All-Star Game and this is the biggest game of Woodruff’s career.

I expect both starters to give their ball club a quality outing. Plus, there are several Under-friendly trends such as Atlanta’s 13-22 O/U record as a road underdogs, the Under cashing in Milwaukee’s past five playoff games and in Fried’s last seven starts as a road underdog.

NLDS Game 1: Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers NLDS Game 1 odds and lines, with expert MLB picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves hit the road for the start of a best-of-five series against the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4:37 p.m. ET Friday at American Family Field. Let’s analyze the lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Charlie Morton is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He went 14-6 with a 3.34 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 across 185 2/3  IP spanning 33 starts in the regular season.

  • He got off to a slow start this season, as his ERA sat at 4.50 through his first 13 starts but the 37-year-old has been dominant since mid-June, posting a 2.71 ERA and 10.6 K/9 over his last 20 starts.
  • Surrendered just four homers across 88 1/3 IP on the road this season, while recording a 3.06 ERA.

RHP Corbin Burnes will take the mound for the Brewers. During the regular season, he went 11-5 with a 2.43 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 12.6 K/9 across 167 IP over a span of 28 starts.

  • Had what was probably his worst outing of the year against Atlanta in late July, when he allowed 5 ER in 4 IP. He was outstanding the rest of the way, though, as he put up a 2.36 ERA over his final 10 starts.
  • He hasn’t been quite as unhittable at home, where he has posted a 2.85 ERA, though a .340 BABIP has inflated that number a bit.

Prediction

Brewers 4, Braves 2

Money line (ML)

Burnes was perhaps the most dominant starter in the league this season, while Morton has been at the top of his game since mid-June. Prior to the team’s loss last weekend when Burnes went just two innings, the Brewers had won the last 12 games he had started.

Though Milwaukee hasn’t been quite as good at home (45-36) as on the road (50-31), having Burnes on the mound gives them the edge. Back the BREWERS (-160)

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Morton boasts a 2.51 ERA over his last 10 road starts, with no more than 3 runs allowed in any of those outings. This contest is likely to be tight throughout, though there may be just enough value for a small play on BREWERS -1.5 (+135), given Burnes’ ability to completely shut down the opposition on any given day.

Over/Under (O/U)

If you enjoy a good pitchers’ duel, you’ll want to tune in for this game. Both starters come into the playoffs riding high, and the offenses will have a tough time getting the bats going.

Milwaukee has scored just 4.32 runs per game at home on the season, compared to 4.79 on the road. Meanwhile, Atlanta hasn’t been as good away from home, where the Braves average 4.77 runs per game (5.05 at home).

Most signs point to a low-scoring affair, and UNDER 7.5 (-135) is the side to take.

Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Atlanta Braves at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (19-20) wrap up a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers (20-20) Sunday at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Milwaukee is trying to prevent a three-game sweep after Atlanta won the first two games of the series by a combined score of 11-4.

Season series: Braves 2-0.

RHP Huascar Ynoa is on the rubber for the Braves. Ynoa is 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA (40 1/3 IP, 10 ER), 0.89 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 across 7 starts and 1 relief appearance.

  • Last outing: Win, 6-1, in 6 IP with 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 6 K vs. the Philadelphia Phillies May 9.
  • Career vs. the Brewers: 0-0 with a 54.00 ERA (1 IP, 6 ER), 6.00 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in 1 relief appearance (2019).

RHP Freddy Peralta is the projected starter for the Brewers. Peralta is 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA (39 IP, 12 ER), 0.95 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 14.1 K/9 over 7 starts and 1 relief appearance.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 7 IP with 0 ER, 1 H, 1 BB and 8 K in Milwaukee’s 6-1 loss Tuesday vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
  • Career vs. the Braves: 1-1 with a 6.97 ERA (10 1/3 IP, 8 ER), 2.13 WHIP and 9.6 K/9 in 2 starts and 1 relief appearance.
    • Vs. Braves on the current roster: 40 at-bats with a .275/.408/.425 slash line, 12/8 K/BB, 0 HR and 7 RBIs.

Braves at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:27 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Brewers -120 (bet $120 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves -1.5 (+155) | Brewers +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Brewers 3, Braves 2

Money line (ML)

The bullpens are pretty even and both pitchers are off to an awesome start, but Milwaukee’s starter has nastier stuff than Atlanta’s.

Peralta grades in the 91st or better percentile in expected wOBA, expected slugging percentage, whiff%, hard-hit rate and K%.

While Ynoa is in the 8 percentile of hard-hit rate, 38th percentile of expected wOBA and 24th percentile in expected slugging percentage.

Furthermore, the “sharp” side of the market is backing Milwaukee whereas the “average Joe” is taking Atlanta.

According to Pregame.com, more than 80% of the money wagered is on the Brewers, but 60% of the bets placed have been on the Braves.

Typically in sports gambling, it’s more profitable to follow the money if it’s going against what the public is betting.

“LEAN” to the BREWERS (-120) for a half unit, however, because Milwaukee’s lineup is scoring the second-fewest runs per game with the third-lowest batting average and second-lowest OPS.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS even though the Brewers are the right side in what should be a low-scoring affair because Milwaukee +1.5 (-190) is too expensive.

Also, Peralta’s edge over Ynoa isn’t big enough to justify taking the Brewers -0.5 (+120) First 5 Innings line. The price for Milwaukee’s First 5 Innings that I would’ve bet would be around +135.

Over/Under (O/U)

GIMME the UNDER 7.5 (-115) for 1 unit because both pitchers have been fabulous so far this season and Milwaukee’s lineup has been awful this season.

There’s not a lot more to the handicap than that. I just think there’s a good chance that this game is low-scoring because of the starters and am less sold on the Brewers’ side.
