Pinion signs with the Atlanta Falcons

Pinion gets picked up by the Falcons.

Former Clemson punter Bradley Pinion has landed with the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta announced Thursday that they’ve picked up the seven-year NFL veteran on a one-year deal.

Pinion spent three seasons with Swinney and the Tigers from 2012 to 2014, where he produced 140 punts for 5,754 yards holding a solid career mark of 41.1 yards per punt. He elected to forego his senior season to enter the 2015 NFL draft, where he was selected with pick No.165 in the fifth round by the San Francisco 49ers.

He spent four seasons of his career with San Francisco before eventually moving on to play three seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, helping the team win Super Bowl LV.

Over his seven-year career in the NFL, Pinion has averaged 43.7 yards per punt, appearing in 117 total games.

Falcons sign veteran punter Bradley Pinion

The Atlanta Falcons are signing veteran punter Bradley Pinion, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Atlanta Falcons appear to be adding some competition at the punter position, agreeing to a deal with veteran Bradley Pinion on Thursday, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and later confirmed by the team.

Pinion, 28, was released by the Buccaneers last week after spending the last three seasons in Tampa Bay. Prior to that, he played for the San Francisco 49ers from 2015-2018.

Pinion has 502 career punts for 21,927 yards (43.7 yards per punt) over his seven-year NFL career. He should be the favorite to be the Falcons’ new starting punter. Dom Maggio is still in the mix, but the team lacked experience after Thomas Morstead left in free agency.

A former Clemson standout has reportedly been cut by an NFL team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing punter Bradley Pinion today, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

“Tampa drafted Jake Camarda in the fourth round,” Garafolo wrote on Twitter. “Pinion, who kicked and punted through a torn hip labrum and hip impingement last year, passed a physical yesterday. Expect multiple teams to have interest.”

Pinion has played with the Buccaneers since 2019 and was previously a member of the San Francisco 49ers from 2015-18 after being drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft (165th overall).

Pinion won Super Bowl LV with the Buccaneers when they beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9, on Feb. 7, 2021.

For his NFL career (2015-2021), Pinion has played in 111 games and averaged 43.7 yards per punt to go with 418 touchbacks on kickoffs and a 78.9 percent touchback percentage.

At Clemson, Pinion had a 41.1-yard average and 39.2-yard net average on 140 punts in 34 games (25 starts) in his career. He had 55 punts inside the 20 with only two touchbacks and punted 102 times without a touchback (with 42 inside the 20) before his first touchback in 2014.

Former Georgia P Jake Camarda now in position to start for Tampa Bay Bucs

Camarda in position to start for Tampa after this roster move.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to release punter Bradley Pinion on Wednesday, per multiple reports.

This move opens the door for former Georgia punter Jake Camarda, a rookie, to start for the Bucs next season.

The Bucs made Camarda the second punter taken in the 2022 NFL draft when they selected him in the fourth round of April’s event, three spots after Penn State’s Jordan Stout went to the Ravens.

Camarda finished as UGA’s career leader in punting average with a mark of 45.78, surpassing 2009 Ray Guy Award winner Drew Butler (45.4). He punted 47 times in 2021 for an average of 46.7 yards, with a long of 68 yards vs. Alabama.

Camarda ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine faster than nine running backs and nine wide receivers, posting a time of 4.56.

Bucs to release P Bradley Pinion

As expected, the Bucs are moving on from the veteran punter, saving around $2 million in cap space

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to release veteran punter Bradley Pinion on Wednesday, per multiple reports.

The 28-year-old spent the past three seasons punting for the Bucs, after playing the first four years of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers. He struggled last year, both in his punting duties and as the kickoff specialist, but was also dealing with injury throughout the season.

The Bucs spent a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft on Georgia punter Jake Camarda, which was a clear sign the team was planning to move on from Pinion.

This move saves the Bucs around $2 million in salary cap space for the 2022 season.

Former Clemson Punter in the Doghouse

After the Bucs’ loss on Sunday night, Tampa Bay’s head coach, Bruce Arians, told the media that their kicking game was starting to be a concern. He addressed the kicking game saying both kickers needed to play better.

Drafted in 2015, Pinion has been a starting punter throughout his entire career, spending his first four seasons with San Francisco before moving to Tampa. He has been the Bucs’ starting punter ever since, including during last year’s Super Bowl run. Know for his powerful leg, Pinion has also been used as the team’s kickoff specialist.

Pinion had spent the week on the Covid list, and was unable to practice this week, which some believe led to his struggles. He has also been dealing with a lingering hip injury. Regardless, it’s never a good thing being publicly called out by your head coach.

When asked about the offense being shut out, Arians again took a shot at the kicking game.

“It’s never happened to me, I don’t know. I can’t remember the last time I was shut out or us,” he said. “But our kicking game, our kickers let us down also and between the offense and the kicking game, it cost us the game. The defense played good enough to win.”

The NFL’s first, and likely best, punt of the season went 78 glorious yards off Bradley Pinion’s foot

What a beautiful boot!!!

We love a good punt here at For The Win.

Unfortunately, for the rest of the NFL, no other punts will compare to the first one of the season from Bradley Pinion of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Why, you ask? Because this glorious, glorious corner punt went a total of 78 yards and pinned the Dallas Cowboys at the two-yard line within the first three minutes of the 2021 season opener.

After a failed first drive by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, Pinion was able to stuff the Cowboys deep in their own zone with this incredible punt which will likely end up being the best one we see this year!

We’ve seen some great punts already in the preseason but we’ve officially started the 2021 NFL season right thanks to this beauty from Pinion. NFL fans on Twitter were just as hype about the proceedings, as you’d expect!

Buccaneers punter hits Colts Quenton Nelson in head, quickly discovers that was the worst idea

Poor Bradley Pinion.

Ever been to an NFL stadium a few hours prior to when the game begins? It’s a truly bizarre scene. Men who are preparing to play an utterly violent game that hinges largely on their ability to hurt or intimidate their opponents are just out there, warming up and — at times — mingling with those opponents! It’s a wonder that there aren’t more pre-game shenanigans than the relatively few we see.

But today brought us a unique intersection, and it is, I’m not afraid to say, perhaps the most lopsided in the history of the league. It involves a punter and a lineman, and while that punter, Bradley Pinion, is not exactly small (6-foot-5, 240 pounds) the lineman is Quenton Nelson, who I and everyone else should be afraid of because he’s clearly one of the toughest guys in football.

Look at Nelson stalking over there, already sweating through his shirt, wider by a good few feet than anybody else on the field! Pinion is going to shank every punt today. I’m convinced he shanked the subsequent punt that came near Nelson — there’s no way he was foolhardy enough to do that on purpose, right?

Good news is the Colts have found their backup punter.
