Bobby Portis and Patrick Beverley amazingly took turns hyping up the crowd during the Bucks’ comeback

Bobby Portis and PatBev were destined to become teammates.

When the Bucks traded for Patrick Beverley at the NBA trade deadline, it gave them an injection of life on the defensive end of the floor.

Although there were concerns about how Beverley might fit alongside Damian Lillard after their previous on-court beef, it seems Milwaukee is starting to figure it out under head coach Doc Rivers.

Despite trailing by as many as 15 points during a game in which both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton sat out against the Clippers on Monday night, the Bucks mounted a massive comeback.

Beverley and Milwaukee teammate Bobby Portis played an integral role in energizing the crowd:

Portis, like Beverley, is known for injecting a bit of life and energy to his team both on and off the court.

With the two of them on the floor at the same time, Milwaukee legitimately has a home-court advantage that could help them during the postseason.

Bobby Portis continues to annoy Bulls in blowout loss to Bucks

The Chicago Bulls’ recent blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks was a reminder of the annoyance of Bobby Portis.

Talk about rocky waters. The Chicago Bulls have been going through a volatile stretch as of late. They took home a scrappy win over the New Orleans Pelicans, then lost to the lowly Detroit Pistons, then picked up a double-overtime victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, then got blown out by the Milwaukee Bucks.

The loss to Milwaukee was particularly rough, as Nikola Vucevic got ejected and Patrick Beverley was able to show out. And on top of that, Bobby Portis made his presence known in ways that Bulls fans should understand by now. He was a constant factor in the game.

The Bulls Central YouTube channel recently discussed the loss and why it brought up the overall annoyance toward Portis.

Portis didn’t shoot particularly well, but he still had a solid game against the Bulls. He finished the game with 11 points, nine rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block while shooting 4-of-13 from the field.

Bobby Portis ‘passionately challenged’ his head coach after Bucks lost in NBA Cup, per report

Portis was concerned with Griffin’s play-calling down the stretch.

The Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated by Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers in the semifinals of the NBA Cup.

After the game, per Bleacher Report insider Chris Haynes, Bucks veteran forward Bobby Portis “passionately challenged” first-year Milwaukee head coach Adrian Griffin.

Portis reportedly “stressed how essential it is for Griffin to structure the offense” during crunch time. According to Haynes, the coach “welcomed the criticism” and agreed that he could do a better job calling plays. Here is more from Haynes:

“The nine-year veteran explained that it’s a two-way street: direction is needed and then it’s up to the players to execute, sources say.”

During their postgame press conferences, both Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo said that Milwaukee required a more organized offense in late-game moments.

Antetokounmpo finished no scoring possessions as the roll man in pick-and-roll sets during the loss against the Pacers, per Synergy. Others, meanwhile, shared concerns about Milwaukee’s 2-3 zone defense.

Griffin played in the league from 1999 until his final professional season in 2008. He was hired by the Bucks after most recently serving as an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors and has coached in the NBA since his playing career ended.

This past summer, meanwhile, Portis represented Team USA during the 2023 FIBA World Cup. He has played for Milwaukee since 2020 and he helped the team win a championship in 2021.

Pro Hogs Update: Portis, Moody off to hot starts through two weeks of NBA season

Bobby Portis and Moses Moody lead the way for former Razorbacks through two weeks of the NBA season. Here’s how all 11 Pro Hogs have fared so far.

There are currently 11 former Razorbacks on NBA rosters, tied with Michigan and Gonzaga for fifth-most of any college basketball program this season.

Through two weeks of the NBA regular season, no former Hogs have been as impressive as [autotag]Bobby Portis[/autotag] and [autotag]Moses Moody[/autotag].

Portis has appeared in every game for the Milwaukee Bucks thus far, and has provided the team with production and veteran leadership. Moody, in his third season with the Golden State Warriors, just had the fourth year of his rookie contract exercised on Oct. 31. That came just days after he made his first start of the season, where he recorded 13 points (5-8 FG, 2-5 3P), three rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes.

Let’s go around the league and take a closer look at how all 11 former Hogs are doing so far in this young NBA season.

Seven Pro Hogs see action in first NBA preseason games

Seven former Arkansas Razorbacks saw significant action in NBA preseason games on Monday night. Here’s how they fared.

Football and postseason baseball typically dominate the October headlines, but what can sometimes get lost in all of that is the beginning of basketball season.

Last week, this year’s Arkansas basketball team put on their annual Red-White Showcase in front of 6,000 fans in Barnhill Arena. This week, former Razorbacks will take the floor as NBA preseason games began on Sunday afternoon and Monday night.

[autotag]Patrick Beverley[/autotag] (Sixers), [autotag]Ricky Council IV[/autotag] (Sixers), [autotag]Isaiah Joe[/autotag] (Thunder), [autotag]Bobby Portis[/autotag] (Bucks), [autotag]Stanley Umude[/autotag] (Pistons), [autotag]Jordan Walsh[/autotag] (Celtics) and [autotag]Jaylin Williams[/autotag] (Thunder) all got their first taste of playing time ahead of the NBA season.

Anthony Black (Magic), Dan Gafford (Wizards), Moses Moody (Warriors), Nick Smith Jr. (Hornets) will all be in action later this week.

Here’s a look at how each of those seven Pro Hogs that played already have fared.

Bobby Portis: ‘I just come in every day and be Bobby Portis’

Milwaukee Bucks fan favorite Bobby Portis is only 28, but he will be the oldest player on Team USA at the 2023 World Cup. Dubbed ‘Crazy Eyes’, the stretch five took a break from shooting on the last day of training camp in Las Vegas to talk to HoopsHype about his journey through his career, the opportunity to represent the USA, the upcoming season for the Bucks, and more.

Team USA’s Bobby Portis stuck his tongue out after a basket and the entire arena chanted his name

Bobby Portis is a legend for this.

NBA champion Bobby Portis is one of the veterans on Team USA’s roster and he had a fun performance during his first exhibition game.

The 28-year-old forward was not in the starting lineup for the American national team when they played an exhibition game against Puerto Rico in Las Vegas on Monday night.

The vet had a nasty spin move before a bucket during Team USA’s first official bucket and as he was celebrating, he stuck his out while he was running back down the court to play defense.

Perhaps his silly antics were directed at Olympic legends Kevin Durant or Draymond Green, who watched from the sidelines:

Even though he isn’t even 30 years old yet, he is known by Team USA’s Anthony Edwards as the “elder statesman” of the roster. Clearly, he is a fan favorite as well.

Shortly after the basket from Portis, the arena began chanting his name.

Portis finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in ten minutes of action. He was 4-of-6 from the field during the contest.

He projects as the backup big man behind Jaren Jackson Jr., who was voted as the best player for Team USA during training camp.

Arkansas Basketball: The All-2010s Team

Arkansas basketball produced some memorable moments and players during the 2010s. Here’s the All-2010s Arkansas basketball team.

The 2010s went much better for [autotag]Arkansas basketball[/autotag] than the decade that preceded it. The program began winning more regularly and were a much more consistent presence in the NCAA Tournament.

However, they were still not able to make it over the hump and into the second weekend of March Madness.

The decade began with John Pelphrey’s tenure coming to an end after four seasons and only one NCAA Tournament appearance. [autotag]Mike Anderson[/autotag] was hired to try and replicate what his mentor Nolan Richardson was able to accomplish.

While Anderson never had a losing season as Arkansas’ head coach and was able to produce some extremely talent players, he was never able to advance past the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2010s would end with the introduction of [autotag]Eric Musselman[/autotag] as head coach and his first season in Fayetteville.

Arkansas basketball produced a lot of memorable and talented players during this decade. Here’s a look at the All-2010s Razorback team, with the best of the best from this period in Arkansas basketball.

A list of the Razorbacks drafted to the NBA since 2000

Three Razorbacks had their names called during the 2023 NBA Draft, the most since 1992.

Both the NBA and NFL have done a great job of turning their respective drafts into spectacles.

Thursday, the NBA held the 77th edition of its draft, and three Razorbacks had their names called. It’s the most since 1992 when four players were drafted out of Fayetteville.

Anthony Black became the Razorbacks’ highest-drafted player, going No. 6 to the Orlando Magic, joining last year’s top overall pick Paolo Banchero.

Nick Smith’s name would get called later in the draft at No. 27 to the Charlotte Hornets, and the guard was emotional after going through a tumultuous freshman season at Arkansas. Jordan Walsh was the final Razorback drafted, going in the second round to the Boston Celtics, giving Eric Musselman four one-and-done players during his tenure as the Arkansas head coach.

With the smoke clearing, let’s take a look at all the players drafted to the NBA out of Arkansas since 2000.

GALLERY: Arkansas basketball’s first round picks since joining the SEC

Arkansas basketball has had a plethora of first round draft picks since joining the SEC in 1992.

Thirty-plus years ago, Nolan Richardson’s basketball program left the Southwest Conference and joined the Southeastern Conference in a seismic move.

Within three years, the Razorbacks went to back-to-back national championship games and won a title.

In preparation of Thursday night’s NBA Draft, we look back at the players who were taken in the first round in the last three decades.
