Flaherty’s numbers are a little inflated due to a revenge dominance against the St. Louis Cardinals with 14 K’s over 6 2/3 shutout IP. He has allowed 2+ ER in 3 straight starts and is starting to walk guys again.

I’ll take the BLUE JAYS -105.

I’m going JACK FLAHERTY OVER 5.5 K’S (-145) here. He has 6+ K’s in 9 of 10 starts. Enough said.

Over/Under

Berrios inked a fat, new extension this offseason but has underperformed thus far. He ranks 346th out of 356 tracked pitchers in barrel rate (per Statcast) and grades in the 5th percentile or worse in expected ERA, expected batting average, wOBA and slugging percentage slash line.

Detroit’s RL is the sharper wager but there’s some value in the TIGERS (+180).

Run line/Against the spread

BET 1 unit on the TIGERS +1.5 (+110).

The Blue Jays are just 6-10 RL as road favorites while being 10-6 SU.

Not only is Berrios getting too much love but Toronto’s bullpen is mediocre. The Blue Jays relievers have a 4.00 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and the 5th most blown saves (10).

Detroit’s bullpen has the 2nd-best ERA (2.78) and WHIP (1.09) and should be rested since Thursday was an off-day. The Tigers are 4-2 RL when playing after 1 day off.

Even if Rodriguez gets raked by Toronto’s lineup or Detroit’s lineup doesn’t hit Berrios, the TIGERS +1.5 (+110) could still sneak through the backdoor vs. Toronto’s suspect bullpen.

There’s value with Detroit (+170). However, I’m afraid of betting against Toronto (-210), which really needs a W here in hopes of not falling further back in the AL Wild Card race.

I could see making a small wager on the Tigers, but I’ll PASS and focus on the two plays below.

DETROIT +1.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Don’t fret that the Tigers are 6 games under .500 straight up. They own the fifth-best ATS mark in the majors.

They covered in two of their three games vs. the Blue Jays last weekend and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games. Plus, they have the third-best home ATS record at 36-27.
