The Colts’ mascot tackled children and got stripped naked in a halftime exhibition vs. fourth graders

Well, as naked as a mascot can get, I suppose.

Blue, the equine mascot of the Indianapolis Colts, has a checkered history when it comes to exhibition games against pee wee football teams. Despite being a horse, he is the very definition of “all gas, no brakes.” This often leads to small children getting trucked by a grown man in a furry costume.

This is a reputation cultivated over time. Blue’s official YouTube page has a “MASCOT VS PEEWEES” sizzle reel in which the second play is the big horse dragging down a child for a sack. Back in 2014 he wound up on ESPN’s “C’mon Man” segment for generally being the worst person at any pickup game you’ve ever played despite not really being a person.

Thus, this led to high expectations for the Minnesota Vikings’ annual mascots vs. youth football game at halftime of the Vikings and Colts Sunday Night Football snoozer. Blue, God bless, did not disappoint.

Yes, that is Blue drawing what should have been a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty flag for a post-tackle shove. And yes, that is Blue shoving his way through a crowd of children after the first child’s teammates stood up to retirement. Finally, yes, that is Blue, naked as the day he was born after having his jersey ripped off, threateningly thrusting toward the sky in his continued quest to leave no Minnesota youth football player nightmare-less.

Look, these kinds knew what they were getting when they signed up for this game. In the grand scheme of things, this may have been one of his tamer games.

Colts mascot Blue pays up on lost bet after Jaguars win

Blue, the Colts mascot, was out in downtown Indianapolis taking his lumps Tuesday after losing a bet.

Indianapolis Colts mascot Blue took his lumps Tuesday, two days after the Jacksonville Jaguars handed his team a 37-20 loss.

On Friday of last week, Blue bet 1010XL radio host Joe Cowart that Indianapolis would beat Jacksonville. If he won, the mascot would do the outro for every one of Cowart’s shows next week, which undoubtedly would’ve been full of Colts love. If the Jaguars won, Blue would wear a sandwich board that reads “Jaxson is the GOAT” and “DUUUVAL.”

Alas, Blue was out in downtown Indianapolis suffering through the shame:

On Sunday, the Jaguars completed a season sweep of Indianapolis and made it nine straight home victories — including one in London — against the Colts.

Jaguars mascot Jaxson de Ville is no stranger to being on the wrong side of bets, though. A decade ago, Jaxson made the ill-advised decision to bet that the Jaguars would beat the Colts in a 2013 matchup. After a 37-3 blowout loss, the Jaguars’ mascot was shot with 40 paintballs.

All things considered, Blue got off easy.

The Colts mascot successfully completed the ‘Milk Crate Challenge’ at the team’s facility

Do NOT attempt.

It was only a matter of time until brands and sports teams tried to get in on the “Milk Crate Challenge,” and on Tuesday, it happened with the Indianapolis Colts.

The “Milk Crate Challenge” is a recent social media trend where people try to navigate a wobbly pyramid of stacked milk crates. The challenge — mostly consisting of hard falls — has gone viral and forced plenty of people to visit emergency rooms.

The Colts mascot, Blue, seemed unfazed given the risks.

In a Twitter video from Blue’s official page, Blue had a massive pyramid of milk crates set up at the team’s indoor facility. And in full mascot costume, Blue completed the journey with relative ease. Don’t try this at home:

Knowing how competitive NFL mascots can be, this probably won’t be the first attempt we’ll see from the league’s mascots.

Still, there probably wasn’t anyone happier to see Blue complete the challenge without falling than the Colts’ legal team. We could only imagine how poorly things could have gone had Blue fallen and gotten hurt while attempting the stunt on company property. Can’t believe they let that happen, but props to Blue.

That was impressive.
