New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Showboats vs. Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (2-0) and the Birmingham Stallions (2-0) meet Saturday for a Week 3 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET (USA Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers opened the season with a 22-15 win in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Maulers as 4-point favorites and narrowly covered in a 38-31 win over the Houston Gamblers as 6.5-point favorites in Week 2. The Breakers are 2nd in the USFL with 30.0 points per game (PPG), behind the Stallions, with 34.5 PPG. The Over/Under has split in 2 games for New Orleans.

The Stallions won 27-10 against the New Jersey Generals in their opener and topped the Memphis Showboats 42-2 as 7-point favorites in Week 2, improving to 2-0 straight up and against the spread (ATS). The Under cashed in each outing for the Stallions.

The Stallions lead the all-time series 7-1, including a 31-17 win in the USFL semifinals playoff game last season. QB Kyle Sloter threw for 328 yards in that victory, the most passing yards in the series. He is now on the Stallions roster.

Birmingham also won 22-13 on May 1 and 18-9 on June 4 in regular-season action last season.

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 25, Breakers 22

Moneyline

The Stallions (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and there is just no value playing such a heavy favorite straight up.

Birmingham is again expected to start QB Alex McGough, with QB Kyle Sloter, a former Breaker, perhaps making his debut as the backup.

While Birmingham has won 7 of the 8 all-time meetings, including all 3 meetings last season, PASS, and look to the spread in what should be a close game.

Against the spread

Back the BREAKERS +6 (-110) to cover the number, although I’d obviously be a lot more comfortable if it were a flat 7 or 7 and a hook.

The Stallions have been stout on defense, allowing just 12 total points through 2 games, and the Breakers have been a little more giving. That will be the difference in this game.

Over/Under

UNDER 48.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in Week 3.

This total is way too high with how Birmingham’s defense has been playing. This team has allowed just 6.0 PPG, although New Orleans should be able to do much better than that. The Breakers posted 38 points last week against a bad Houston team, although they also allowed 31 points which is slightly concerning with an Under play. Still, going low is the way to go.

Memphis Showboats vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Showboats vs. Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Showboats (0-1) and the Birmingham Stallions (1-0) meet Saturday for a Week 2 USFL game at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Showboats vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Showboats opened the season with an exciting 27-23 setback against the Philadelphia Stars at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. Memphis actually outgained Philadelphia by a 295-to-281 margin in total yards. The difference was a lone turnover via interception for Memphis, while Philadelphia didn’t have any miscues.

The Stallions belted the visiting New Jersey Generals in Birmingham by a 27-10 count. The Generals actually had 361 total yards of offense, compared to just 310 yards for the Stallions, and Birmingham allowed 197 rushing yards, and 6.6 yards per attempt. However, the Stallions were plus-1 in turnover margin, pouncing upon 2 lost fumbles by the Gens.

Showboats vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 23, Showboats 19

Moneyline

The Stallions (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward.

Birmingham lost starting QB J’Mar Smith to a season-ending finger injury and will turn to QB Alex McGough, while adding QB Kyle Sloter from the New Orleans Breakers. However, the latter is on the inactive list, so it’s McGough’s show in Week 2. It also hurts that the Stallions lost Scarbrough indefinitely to a knee ailment.

PASS, and look to the line instead.

Against the spread

Look to the SHOWBOATS +7 (-110) to cover the number. Memphis has one of the top running backs in the league in RB Alex Collins, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks. He rumbled for 63 yards on 14 carries while posting a score last weekend. He’ll be a force for the Stallions’ defense to corral.

The injuries have mounted quickly for the Stallions -7 (-110), and as a result, this is a little bit too high of a line.

Over/Under

UNDER 44.5 (-110) is a strong option in Week 2.

The Stallions will likely struggle with consistency on offense, replacing Smith under center and Scarbrough in the backfield. The Boats were involved in the highest-scoring game in Week 1, while the Stallions saw the Under connect. Birmingham allowed just 10 points in the home victory.

New Jersey Generals at Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Jersey Generals at Birmingham Stallions odds and lines, with USFL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions meet Saturday in the Week 1 opener at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Generals vs. Stallions odds, and make our expert USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Generals posted a 9-1 record last season, but the team must replace dynamic kick return man KaVontae Turpin, who landed a job with the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL.

USFL Offensive Player of the Year RB Darius Victor is back, though, after rumbling for 577 yards and 9 TDs. He’ll pair with RB Trey Williams for a tremendous one-two punch in Jersey.

The Stallions begin defending their title at Protective Stadium, where all of the 2022 regular season games were played. QBs J’Mar Smith and Alex McGough are both talented and capable of doing big things.

Stallions RB Bo Scarbrough flamed out in the NFL, but he was a bona fide star with the Stallions last season. TE Thaddeus Moss, son of NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss, joins the team, too, although he is inactive for Week 1.

Generals at Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 26, Generals 20

Moneyline

The Stallions (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s a little steep for a standalone wager, even for the defending champions.

PASS.

Against the spread

The lean is to STALLIONS -5 (-110), although the Generals +5 (-110) certainly have the tools to hang with the defending champs.

The key for New Jersey will be the run game and Victor, while the Stallions have an outstanding rushing attack, and experienced quarterbacks, too. This one should be fun, with the home side cashing late in the 2nd half.

Over/Under

OVER 39.5 (-110) is the play, as both of these teams have the offensive tools to make things happen.

Again, like we saw in the XFL in Week 1, the books set the totals low on the opening week games, and the teams exceeded expectations on offense. Look for the star-studded Birmingham and New Jersey offenses to put on a show at Protective Stadium.

2022 USFL Championship: Philadelphia Stars vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Philadelphia Stars vs, Birmingham Stallions USFL championship odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Stars and the Birmingham Stallions will battle Sunday in the USFL Championship Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on FOX. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Stars vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars were 6-4 in the regular season and finished in 2nd place in the North Division. They upset the division-winning New Jersey Generals 19-14 in a semifinal June 25. The Generals had won 9 in a row before the stunning loss.

The Stallions lost only once all season and not until they had the South Division title wrapped up. They defeated the New Orleans Breakers 31-17 last Saturday to earn a trip to the Championship Game.

Stars vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 31, Stars 20

Money line

Normally, a -190 line would be a pass for me. However, this is the Super Bowl of the USFL. The Stallions have dominated the league all season. They scored the 2nd-most points in the league and allowed the 2nd fewest.

They beat the Stars in their regular-season matchup 30-17 in Week 5.

The Stars won 4 games in a row after that loss to clinch a playoff berth and were scrappy enough to beat the Generals last week after losing twice to them in the regular season.

If you simply like to bet the money line, go for it. Take the STALLIONS (-190). But that is not the best bet. There is more value betting the spread.

Against the spread

Three of the Stars’ 4 losses this season came by more than 4 points, including their 13-point loss to the Stallions.

Seven of the Stallions’ 10 wins, including last week’s semifinal, have been by at least 5 points.

They held their opponents to fewer than 20 points in 8 of their 11 games this season, including the postseason. They beat the Stars by 13 and won last week by 14. They will roll in the title game.

Take the STALLIONS -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Their Week 5 matchup hit 47 points.

The Stallions only had 5 of their 11 total games with totals of 46 or more this season, but the Stars were the league’s top-scoring team. They had 7 games with more than 45 points.

Take OVER 45.5 (-105).

New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions USFL semifinal odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions semifinal odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The South Division champion Birmingham Stallions (9-1) face the New Orleans Breakers (6-4) Saturday in the second USFL semifinal of the day. Kickoff from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, is set for 8 p.m. ET (NBC). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers finished the season 6-4 and allowed the fewest points (164) in the league. However, of the 4 playoff teams, they scored the fewest (196).

The Stallions finished 9-1, winning their first 8 before losing in Week 9 after they had clinched 1st place in the South. They scored the second-most points (234) in the league and allowed the 2nd-fewest (169).

The New Jersey Generals (9-1) and Philadelphia Stars (6-4) meet in the North Division semifinal earlier Saturday on this same field at 3 p.m. ET (FOX). The 2 semifinal winners will play the championship game Sunday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET (FOX), also in Canton.

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 21, Breakers 17

Money line

The Stallions beat the Breakers in both matchups in the regular season, 22-13 in Week 3 and 10-9 in Week 9.

The Breakers lost 2 of their final 3 games.

From start to finish this season, the Stallions have been the best team in the league. They were the only team to beat the North champion Generals (9-1).

However, this is a PASS because the -210 price is too expensive.

Against the spread

Two of the Breakers’ 4 losses were by more than 5 points. They lost their 1st game against the Stallions by 9 points.

Five of the Stallions’ 9 victories were by more than 5 points. Their final 3 games were decided by 1, 2 and 3 points.

Look for a lower-scoring, tight game to determine the winner here.

Take the BREAKERS +5 (-110).

Over/Under

Six of the Stallions’ games and each of their last 4 had fewer than 45 total points.

The 2 games between the Stallions and Breakers had totals of 35 and 19.

Nine of the Breakers’ 10 games had totals of fewer than 45 points this season.

Take UNDER 44.5 (-112).

Birmingham Stallions vs. Tampa Bay Bandits odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Birmingham Stallions vs. Tampa Bay Bandits Week 10 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Birmingham Stallions (8-1) face the Tampa Bay Bandits (4-5) Saturday in Week 10 to wrap up their regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET at Legion Field in Birmingham. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Stallions vs. Bandits odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stallions won the South Division and will play the 2nd-place New Orleans Breakers in next week’s semifinals on a neutral field in Canton, Ohio.

They suffered their 1st loss of the season in Week 9, falling 17-15 to the Houston Gamblers. Even with the loss, they claimed the South Division title. They beat the Bandits 16-10 in Week 4

The Bandits were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 9 following a 17-6 loss to the Breakers. Tampa Bay has only 1 win its last 4 games.

Stallions vs. Bandits odds and lines

Bandits

Stallions vs. Bandits picks and predictions

Prediction

Bandits 20, Stallions 17

Money line

Expect most of Birmingham starters to sit most of Saturday’s game.

The Stallions are locked into the South’s No. 1 seed and already know they will face the Breakers in next week’s semifinals. With that already locked up last week, they stumbled and lost to then 1-7 Gamblers.

The Bandits will look to end the season on a high note and avenge their Week 4 loss to the Stallions.

While Tampa Bay’s season will conclude, its players should be motivated to play well and give NFL teams one more look at them for the upcoming season.

Take the BANDITS (+140).

Against the spread

The last 2 games for the Stallions have been a 2-point loss and a 1-point win. They are 6-3 ATS this season, while the Bandits are 3-6 ATS.

Again, Saturday’s contest is more about the Stallions just trying to stay healthy for the playoffs.

The money line is the better bet here because of the value, but I also like BANDITS +3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Their matchup in Week 4 had only 26 points.

The Stallions’ last 2 games had 19 and 32 points.

The last 3 games for the Bandits have had totals of 33, 16 and 23 points.

Take UNDER 40.5 (-108).

Houston Gamblers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston Gamblers vs. Birmingham Stallions Week 9 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The struggling Houston Gamblers (1-7) take on the undefeated Birmingham Stallions (8-0) in Week 9 of the USFL season. Their game kicks off Saturday at 6 p.m. ET at Protective Stadium. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Gamblers vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Gamblers won their season opener but have dropped their last 7 games in a row. Last week, they mustered only a field goal in a 13-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Bandits.

The Stallions are the only undefeated team in the league. They squeaked out a 10-9 win over the New Orleans Breakers last week.

Gamblers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 20, Gamblers 9

Money line

PASS on the money line. You have the league’s best and hottest team, which has not lost all season and is the only team with a real home-field advantage, going against a team that has lost 7 in a row and scored only 3 points in its last game.

You won’t make any money betting the Stallions, and betting the Gamblers is not a smart bet.

Against the spread

The Stallions have only won 2 games this season by double-digits.

The Gamblers have not lost any game this season by more than 11 points. They have lost 3 games by only 1 point.

This spread is just too much. Take the GAMBLERS +12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Stallions mustered only 10 points last week, and the Gamblers only scored 3.

However, the Stallions have had 4 games with totals over 42 and one at 42.

The Gamblers have twice been held to fewer than 10 points.

Take UNDER 42.5 (-108).

New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Orleans Breakers vs. Birmingham Stallions Week 8 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Breakers (5-2) battle the Birmingham Stallions (7-0) Saturday at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Breakers vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Breakers are looking to clinch a playoff spot, but it will be a tall order trying to hand the Stallions their first loss of the season. New Orleans also needs Tampa Bay to fall to Houston Sunday.

The Stallions are already one of two teams to clinch a playoff spot. Birmingham is averaging 26.9 PPG while riding an impressive rushing attack with 145.4 yards per game.

The Stallions topped the Breakers 22-13 back in Week 3 at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.

Breakers vs. Stallions key injuries

Breakers

  • TE E.J. Bibbs (head) probable
  • WR Johnnie Dixon (illness) probable
  • RB Ezra Gray (illness) probable
  • WR Marquis McClain (hamstring) probable
  • QB Shea Patterson (not injury related) out
  • WR Shawn Poindexter (ankle) questionable
  • RB Larry Rose (not injury related) out

Stallions

  • TE Cary Angeline (not injury related) out
  • WR Victor Bolden (hamstring) out
  • QB Montell Cozart (not injury related) out
  • WR Jeffrey Thomas (not injury related) out
  • WR Marlon Williams (knee) probable

Breakers vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Breakers 26, Stallions 23

Money line

The BREAKERS (+133) are looking to clinch a spot in the postseason, while the Stallions (-165) are already in and might not be quite as hungry. In addition, the loss of WR Victor Bolden is a big one for this offense. Although, it’s nice that the team can afford to let him slowly recover and get ready for the playoffs.

Against the spread

The BREAKERS +3 (-110) are worth playing with the points if you don’t trust them straight up, although obviously playing NOLA on the money line is a much better value.

Over/Under

The OVER 44.5 (-108) is the play here as both of these teams have explosive playmakers on offense. While Bolden’s absence hurts, RBs C.J. Marable and Bo Scarbrough are studs. Former Louisiana Tech standout QB J’Mar Smith has been very capable, too.

For the Breakers, QB Kyle Sloter leads the league with 1,499 passing yards and 214.1 yards per game. WRs Jonathan Adams and Johnnie Dixon have been the beneficiaries of Sloter’s strong play, and NOLA can score rather quickly via the air.

Birmingham Stallions vs. Pittsburgh Maulers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Birmingham Stallions vs. Pittsburgh Maulers Week 7 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Birmingham Stallions (6-0) look to extend their winning streak to 7 as they take on the Pittsburgh Maulers (1-5) Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is 2 p.m. ET (Fox) at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, where all games for the season will be played. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Stallions vs. Maulers odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stallions have gone unbeaten so far this season. Their most recent victory was 33-17 win over the Michigan Panthers. QB J’Mar Smith passed for 143 yards and 2 TDs, while RB Bo Scarbrough rushed 16 times for 104 yards and a score.

The Maulers picked up their 1st win of the season 2 weeks ago, a 21-20 victory over the Houston Gamblers, by scoring on a TD pass with 4 seconds left. However, they followed that up last week with a 26-16 loss to the New Orleans Breakers.

Stallions vs. Maulers odds and lines

Stallions vs. Maulers picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 31, Maulers 17

Money line

PASS on the money line. The Stallions are undefeated and have the league’s top-scoring offense. The Maulers have scored the fewest points in the league and have scored 3 or fewer points twice this season.

This is the best team against arguably the worst team in the USFL. There isn’t enough money to be won in a money line bet backing the Stallions. Consider it if you are putting together a parlay bet, but PASS on a single ML bet.

Against the spread

The Stallions have won only 1 game by more than 12 points. It was last week’s 33-17 win over the 1-win Panthers.

Two of the Maulers’ 5 losses have been by more than 12 points.

Entering Week 7, the Stallions had scored the most points and allowed the fewest.

Take the STALLIONS -12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Four of the Stallions’ 6 games this season have had totals of more than 42 points, including last week’s win over the Michigan Panthers.

One of the Maulers’ 6 games this season has finished with a higher total than Sunday’s projected total.

Take OVER 42.5 (-108).

Tampa Bay Bandits vs. Birmingham Stallions odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Bandits vs. Birmingham Stallions Week 4 odds and lines, with expert USFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Bandits (2-1) face the Birmingham Stallions (3-0) in Week 4 of the USFL schedule. Kickoff is 7 p.m. ET at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Bandits vs. Stallions odds with USFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bandits are coming off a come-from-behind 27-26 win over the Houston Gamblers in Week 3. They scored 10 4th-quarter points and held the Gamblers scoreless in the first frame to get the 1-point win. QB Jordan Ta’amu threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another in the win.

The Stallions have won their first 3 games of the season, benefitting from the only home-field advantage in the league, as every game is played in Birmingham. They defeated the previously unbeaten New Orleans Breakers 22-13 last week. They outscored the Breakers 12-0 in the 4th quarter as they forced 2 turnovers.

Bandits vs. Stallions picks and predictions

Prediction

Stallions 23, Bandits 17

Money line

The Bandits’ 47 points scored are the second-fewest points in the league despite their 2-1 record.

The Stallions’ 83 points are the second-most in the USFL, trailing only Philadelphia’s 89. Smith leads the league with 5 touchdown passes.

The Stallions have the best turnover plus-minus this season at +3 and they are the one team playing in their home city.

Take the STALLIONS (-165).

Against the spread

The Stallions have not won any of their games by fewer than 4 points. They have increased their margin of victory each week, winning their opener by 4 points, their second game by 5 and last week’s outing by 9.

The Bandits’ one loss was a 34-3 drubbing by the New Orleans Breakers, but they will struggle to keep up with the Stallions’ offense.

Take the STALLIONS -2 (-110).

Over/Under

Last week’s win for the Stallions was the first game that didn’t have over 50 points. It finished with only 35.

The Bandits’ last game had 53 points but their previous high was 37 in total points.

Half of Week 3’s games had more points than tonight’s projected total.

I LEAN OVER 38 (-110).
