I’ve never been so underwhelmed and exhausted while watching an Auburn game before. The Auburn vs Memphis basketball game left very little in the emotional tank for football, it also didn’t help that the score at halftime was 6-3.

But alas, Auburn was able to snap a two-game losing streak and the Tigers’ abysmal offense finally managed to find the end zone late in the second half. The final score was 24-10. Here’s what many had to say:

Auburn fans we can now relax, for it is now basketball season. Prayers up for Mississippi State DE Marquiss Spencer who was stretchered off the field in the fourth quarter.

The Los Angeles Chargers have their eyes on the future.

The Los Angeles Chargers were one of seven teams that were in attendance to scout Saturday’s matchup between the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldog, according to NFL Media’s Chase Goodbread.

There should’ve been a handful of NFL draft prospects players that drew the attention of the Bolts.

Big Kat Bryant updates his playing status ahead of UGA

One of Auburns top players expects to be a full-participant in this weekend’s top-10 matchup with Georgia.

One of Auburn’s top players expects to be a full participant in this weekend’s top-10 matchup with Georgia.

Senior defensive end and team captain Big Kat Bryant was limited to only a few snaps in the Tigers’ season-opening win against Kentucky due to an ankle injury he suffered last week in practice and pregame Saturday.

Bryant participated in practice Tuesday and said he is “feeling great” ahead of the 126th edition of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

“I’m definitely going to be out there Saturday,” Bryant said. “So, I’m looking forward to it.”

Bryant may have only played a handful of snaps in the second half, but his presence was notable as the younger plays fed off of his energy and experience.

“I think my presence out there kind of affected the team, the guys up front a little bit,” Bryant said. “Just maybe playing a little harder in the second half. That’s just what I got from it from watching on the sideline.”

Auburn is facing several other injuries as well as Jay Hardy, Marco Domio, Dre Butler, Daniel Foster-Allen, Shedrick Jackson, and Brandon Frazier were all out last week and startiing corner Jaylin Simpson left with an injury in the second half during his SEC Freshman of the Week performence.

Malzahn gave them all the same status ahead of the big matchup Saturday.

“We’re hopeful that we’ll have everybody back,” Malzahn said. “There were a lot of guys that didn’t get a chance to play that we’re hopeful for this week.”

Auburn ‘hopeful’ to get injured players back this week

In Auburn’s season opener against Kentucky, the Tigers were down several notable players.

In Auburn’s season opener against Kentucky, the Tigers were down several notable players.

Jay Hardy, Marco Domio, Dre Butler, Daniel Foster-Allen, Shedrick Jackson, and Brandon Frazier were all out. Big Kat Bryant was limited only played a few snaps.

Romello Height and O.C. Brothers are also out for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing shoulder procedures, although Gus Malzahn is hopeful they will be available sometime this season.

Malzahn is ‘hopeful’ that the players who were unavailable for the Kentucky game will return this week.

“We’re hopeful for everybody at this point,” Malzahn said. “Now, we’ll see but we’re hopeful that we’ll have everybody back.”

While their injuries are undisclosed, Bryant was said to have suffered an ankle injury in practice and Hardy was seen wearing a boot before the game.

With Auburn down Hardy and Butler along the defensive line, the groups depth stood out, as nine different defensive linemen saw the field against Kentucky and DaQuan Newkirk had a big game, recording six tackles, two tackles for loss and the first sack of his career.

With Jackson out, freshman wide receiver Ze’Vian Capers stepped up, hauling in one catch for 17 yards and perhaps more impressively, did not react when a Kentucky defender shoved him for a personal foul.

Auburn will need to be as close to full strength as possible next week when they travel to Athens to take on No. 4 Georgia.

Auburn players voted for their team captains Saturday, naming senior linebacker K.J. Britt, sophomore quarterback Bo Nix, senior defensive lineman Big Kat Bryant and junior running back Shaun Shivers.

Last season Britt was named to the All-SEC First Team after recording 69 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss.

Nix, the Reighning SEC Freshman of the Year, set Auburn newcomer records for completions (217), passing yards (2,542) and touchdown passes (16) in an up and down freshman year.

Shivers, who is competing to be Auburn’s lead back, averaged 5.2 yards per carry and became an Auburn legend when he scored the winning touchdwon  against Alabama in the 2019 Iron Bowl.

Bryant is expected to be one of the leaders on the defense after leading the team in quarterback hurries (9) a season ago and was named to the  2020 Preseason Coaches All-SEC First Team with Britt.

Auburn football: Six Tigers earn spots on preseason Coaches All-SEC team

The Tigers put two players on the first-team All-SEC team as voted on by the coaches.

Big things are expected of Auburn’s defense and that is apparent by placement of two Tigers on the first-team All-SEC defensive team by conference coaches.

Defensive lineman Big Kat Bryant and linebacker K.J. Britt earned those spots on the first team. As a junior in 2019, Britt made 69 total tackles along with 10 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Bryant, looking to replace Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson as studs along the defensive line, made 16 tackles, two tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, nine quarterback hurries and recovered one fumble last season.

Brodarious Hamm, one of the new-look offensive lines for the Tigers, earned second team honors. Bo Nix, Seth Williams and Christian Tutt were named to the third team. Tutt earned spots at the all-purpose position, defensive back and return specialist.

Auburn football: 3 Tigers named to CBS preseason All-America team

Auburn begins its season on Sept. 26 against Kentucky in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Let the preseason award watch begin!

On Monday, CBS released its preseason All-America teams for the 2020 college football season and it included three Auburn players, all on the second team.

Defensive lineman Big Kat Bryant, who will look to fill the holes left by Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson, was one of the Tigers named. As a junior in 2019, Bryant recorded 16 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and nine quarterback hurries while also recovering a fumble.

Linebacker K.J. Britt, the heart and soul of the 2020 defense, also saw his name on the list. He made 69 total tackles for the Tigers last season along with 10 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

The third Tiger on the list is Christian Tutt who earns the spot on the second team at punt returner. The defensive back returned 23 punts for a total of 313 yards as a sophomore in 2019 while also making 32 total tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
