It was announced that the Texas Longhorns will host the Villanova Wildcat’s on Dec. 6 as part of the Big 12-Big East Challenge. This means that the Texas Longhorns will play all three teams at the top of the preseason AP Top 25 with Gonzaga, Baylor and now Villanova. This will make sure the team is battle tested provided they are able to get into the March Madness tournament by season’s end.

This could be a huge year for Texas head coach Shaka Smart as he is often discussed as being on the hot seat. He hasn’t achieved the level of success he had at Virginia Commonwealth University. Despite the fact that he recruits well. Last season they finished 10th in the conference but signed the No. 9 player in the country. In 2019 they were No. 17 according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
