There have been bigger upsets in basketball, but there’s no reason to go chasing one in this matchup. Save your money and look at the spread, as a $10 bet on the Lakers to win outright as heavy favorites will return a profit of just $1.40.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Thunder (-4.5, -106) are two-basket favorites. While Oklahoma City hasn’t won a ton of game this season, it has fared well against the spread, covering in five of the last six games at home. The Thunder are a tough out every night of the week, as are the PELICANS (+4.5, -110).

New Orleans has covered in seven of its last 10 games, despite several injuries to starting players. The Pelicans are a young, fun team that can run up and down the floor all game long. Given there isn’t a big difference between these two teams take the Pelicans and the points in this contest.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this match-up is set at 226.5, as both teams can be fantastic on offense. Despite a ton of injuries, the Pelicans are averaging nearly 116 points per game as they shoot almost 39% from the three-point line. The Knicks (+425) have lost three straight, but all by single digits. They’ve won just one of eight road games on the year with that victory coming Nov. 8, against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Raptors outscore their opponents by an average of 7.4 points per game (112.9-105.5) while the Knicks lose by an average of 6.6 PPG (108.6-102.0). Toronto will win at Scotiabank Arena, but these odds are far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.70. The value lies with the spread when spotting the Knicks a couple handfuls of points.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The play is to back the KNICKS (+9.5, +105) to stay within nine points in a loss or win outright. They’re still getting plus money while being spotted such a large number and a $10 bet will fetch a profit of $10.50.

The injuries to Lowry and Ibaka will cost the Raptors as they face their first opponent with a record better than .500 in over a week. Take the visitors in a pick ’em.

New Orleans is outscored by an average of 3.2 points per game (119.6-116.4). The home side wins this handily but it’s far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Clippers enter the day at 8-8 overall ATS but 7-4 at home. The Pelicans are also 8-8 overall but 3-5 on the road. Los Angeles covers the spread by an average of 1.8 points per game while New Orleans falls an average of 0.3 points per game short of the projections.

Brooklyn is 2-5 on the road while New York is 3-5 at home. The Nets won 113-109 in the first meeting between the two this season in Brooklyn. Irving led the way with 26 points and five assists, but four other players scored in double figures for the Nets.

The Knicks are getting +500 odds as the visitors, which is nearly too tempting to turn down. New York is even coming off an impressive 123-105 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday, but it heads into Philadelphia with a 1-6 road record and is 0-3 against the Atlantic Division.

The 76ers (-714) are an unimpressive 5-5 over their last 10 games, but they’re a perfect 4-0 at Wells Fargo Center and dropped the same Cavaliers team 114-95 on the road Sunday in their last game. They’ll win this handily at full health in their return home, but there’s too much chalk on the moneyline. We’ll play the spread.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The lopsided moneyline is reflected in the spread of -11.5 (-115) for the SIXERS. Take this bet with a high degree of confidence and expect the hosts to come away with a comfortable win by 12 or more points.
