NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 8 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Mavericks 124, Pelicans 105

Moneyline (ML)

The MAVERICKS (-167) roll into New Orleans having won two straight games and seven of their past 10. They’re 7-2 on the road this season and 8-3 against the Western Conference as they hold down fourth place. The Pelicans (+140) enter Tuesday with five straight losses and a home record of just 4-6.

Each of the Pelicans’ last three losses were decided by five or fewer points, while the Mavericks’ last five victories each came by at least 10 points. Dallas is outscoring the opposition by an average of 8.0 points per game (117.8-109.8) while New Orleans is outscored by 4.4 PPG (114.5-118.9). Back the road favorites with a high degree of confidence.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Mavericks to win outright returns a profit of $6.

Against the Spread (ATS)

As noted above, the MAVERICKS (-3.5, -115) have been winning by convincing scores of late, including Sunday’s 14-point win over the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers and two wins by 40-plus points two weeks ago. They’re 11-8 against the spread overall but 7-2 on the road. The Pelicans are 9-11 ATS overall and 6-4 at home, but they stayed within four points in a loss just twice this year.

Increase your profit margin by backing Dallas to win by at least four points. The same $10 wager fetches a profit of $8.70.

Over/Under (O/U)

The two teams combine to average 232.3 points per game while the Pelicans surrender 118.9 on the defensive end to the Mavericks’ 109.8 points allowed per game. Take the UNDER 231.5 (+105), as the Mavericks’ team defense will limit the output for the hosts en route to a convincing victory.

Prediction

Lakers 124, Wizards 104

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers (-715) have rung their win streak up to nine straight games entering Friday’s contest against the Wizards (+500). Washington is coming off a 140-132 road win over the Phoenix Suns Wednesday, but it’s still just 3-6 on the road this season and 4-6 over the last 10 games. The Lakers are 8-1 straight up at home, and they’re third in the NBA in opponent points allowed per game.

There have been bigger upsets in basketball, but there’s no reason to go chasing one in this matchup. Save your money and look at the spread, as a $10 bet on the Lakers to win outright as heavy favorites will return a profit of just $1.40.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The LAKERS (-11.5, -106) are laying double-digit points and will need to win by 12 or more for an against the spread bet to cash. It’s an easy choice with the Lakers 10-8 ATS overall and 6-3 at home, even though the Wizards are 10-5 ATS overall and 6-2 on the road.

The Lakers have far too much talent for the Wizards to handle, especially with Davis likely to suit up on the heels of his 41-point, nine-rebound performance against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Over/Under (O/U)

Washington ranks second in the NBA with a record of 9-6-1 against the Over/Under and it tops the projected totals by a league-high average of 10.6 points per game. Los Angeles is 8-10 against the O/U and falls an average of 2.3 points shy of the projections.

Back the UNDER 234.5 (-115) with the Lakers defense capable of slowing down a Wizards offense leading the league with 119.4 PPG.

Pelicans at Thunder: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Thunder 115, Pelicans 112

Moneyline (ML)

The THUNDER (-182) are slight favorites at home despite winning just six of their last 19 contests. The Pelicans aren’t much better, winning only two of their previous six games. While I like the Pelicans to cover, the Thunder should ultimately get the “W” in this game.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Thunder (-4.5, -106) are two-basket favorites. While Oklahoma City hasn’t won a ton of game this season, it has fared well against the spread, covering in five of the last six games at home. The Thunder are a tough out every night of the week, as are the PELICANS (+4.5, -110).

New Orleans has covered in seven of its last 10 games, despite several injuries to starting players. The Pelicans are a young, fun team that can run up and down the floor all game long. Given there isn’t a big difference between these two teams take the Pelicans and the points in this contest.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this match-up is set at 226.5, as both teams can be fantastic on offense. Despite a ton of injuries, the Pelicans are averaging nearly 116 points per game as they shoot almost 39% from the three-point line. The Thunder haven’t been quite as dominant on offense, but they have surely had their moments as well with their new-look team. Expect the OVER (1-28) to hit in this Friday night contest.

Lakers at Pelicans: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 11 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 115, Pelicans 112

Moneyline (ML)

The LAKERS (-278) are favored on the road against the Pelicans in a much-anticipated Western Conference matchup. PF Anthony Davis was traded from the Pelicans to the Lakers in the offseason, so look for the star forward to put on a show in front of his former home crowd. With the Pelicans (+200) dealing with several notable injuries, don’t expect them to beat the league’s top team.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Lakers (-5.5, -120) open this contest as three-basket favorites over the Pelicans. While the Lakers have won 15 of their 17 games this season, they are just 10-7 against the spread. New Orleans is 8-9 against the spread while covering in six of its last nine games. The Pelicans have also been fantastic at home, covering in five of their last six games at the Smoothie King Center. Look for this contest to be close and decided in the last few minutes as the PELICANS (+5.5, +100) cover the spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at 232.5. The Lakers rank third in the NBA with just over 103 points per game allowed. While the Pelicans have struggled to stop anybody, look for the pace of this game to be slower and for the UNDER (-115) to hit.

Knicks at Raptors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Raptors 106, Knicks 99

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams are riddled with injuries but the Raptors (-588) have still been able to rifle off four straight wins, and they remain undefeated at 7-0 on home court. The Knicks (+425) have lost three straight, but all by single digits. They’ve won just one of eight road games on the year with that victory coming Nov. 8, against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Raptors outscore their opponents by an average of 7.4 points per game (112.9-105.5) while the Knicks lose by an average of 6.6 PPG (108.6-102.0). Toronto will win at Scotiabank Arena, but these odds are far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.70. The value lies with the spread when spotting the Knicks a couple handfuls of points.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The play is to back the KNICKS (+9.5, +105) to stay within nine points in a loss or win outright. They’re still getting plus money while being spotted such a large number and a $10 bet will fetch a profit of $10.50.

The Knicks are 9-8 against the spread overall and 5-3 on the road. The Raptors are 10-6 ATS overall and 6-1 at home, but just two of their last six victories were decided by 10 or more points. The Knicks have gone six straight games without losing by 10 or more.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Raptors are 9-7 against the Over/Under while topping the projected totals by an average of 0.3 points per game. The Knicks are 5-12 against the O/U and fall an average of 3.9 shy of the projections. Take the UNDER 211.5 (-105).

The Knicks have the interior presence to limit Raptors PF Pascal Siakam, who leads the team with 25.7 PPG. Lowry and Ibaka are the team’s second- and fourth-leading scorers and both are expected to remain out of the lineup. Toronto still has the depth to win, but it will be via a tighter, lower-scoring contest.

76ers at Raptors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 9:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 108, Raptors 98

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams enter on winning streaks, with the Raptors (-110) taking three in a row and the SIXERS (-110) winning four straight. Toronto last beat the Atlanta Hawks 119-116 on the road Saturday. Philadelphia wrapped up a three-game homestand with a 113-86 rout of the Miami Heat.

The Raptors are a perfect 6-0 at home while the 76ers are 4-5 on the road. Toronto has the edge on offense with an average of 113.7 points per game to Philly’s 110.3 PPG, but the Sixers allow just 105.1 PPG to the Raptors’ 106.1 PPG allowed. The injuries to Lowry and Ibaka will cost the Raptors as they face their first opponent with a record better than .500 in over a week. Take the visitors in a pick ’em.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the 76ers to win outright returns a profit of $9.09.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Philly is 8-7 against the spread overall and 4-4 on the road. Toronto is 9-6 ATS overall and 5-1 on home court. Both teams are 5-5 ATS across their respective last 10 games. The Raptors have covered by an average of 6.4 points per game while the 76ers have covered by an average of just 0.6 points per game.

Again, with the injuries to Lowry and Ibaka, the 76ers will have the depth to pull out the outright win Monday. They’re a wiser pick on the moneyline with a greater profit margin than they are to cover the meager spread of +1.5 with -120 odds. The same $10 wager would return a profit of $8.33 with just one point of insurance in the event of a loss. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Raptors are 9-6 against the Over/Under and top the projected total by an average of 1.4 points per game. The 76ers are 8-8 against the number and fall an average of 0.4 points per game shy of the point total. Back the UNDER 214.5 (-115) with Toronto needing to rely more heavily on the bottom end of its bench without the two stars.

Pelicans at Clippers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 2:45 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 130, Pelicans 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Pelicans (+625) were without all of the above players Saturday against the Utah Jazz and it resulted in a 128-120 loss. The Clippers (-1000) last played Friday when their 122-119 home win over the Houston Rockets extended their streak to four straight victories.

The Clippers are 10-1 on their home court while the Pelicans are 2-6 on the road. L.A. outscores the opposition by an average of 113.0-107.2. New Orleans is outscored by an average of 3.2 points per game (119.6-116.4). The home side wins this handily but it’s far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Clippers enter the day at 8-8 overall ATS but 7-4 at home. The Pelicans are also 8-8 overall but 3-5 on the road. Los Angeles covers the spread by an average of 1.8 points per game while New Orleans falls an average of 0.3 points per game short of the projections.

Los Angeles has won by 12 or more three times this season, including a 150-101 thrashing of Atlanta last Saturday. Two of New Orleans’ last four losses were by margins of at least 12 points. Back the CLIPPERS (-13.5, -106) with the points against a tired and injury-riddled road opponent.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 230.5 (-129). The Pelicans gave up at least 120 points in each of their last two road games and the defense will be even weaker on the second half of the back-to-back. The Clippers average 113 points per game, and they dropped 122 Friday night.

New Orleans is 9-7 against the projected totals and covers the number by an average of 4.3 points per game. Los Angeles falls an average of 4.9 points below the projections but it will be able to handle the bulk of the scoring against the Pelicans’ defense.

Nets at Knicks: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Nets 107, Knicks 96

Moneyline (ML)

The NETS (-139) have enough firepower to easily get past the rival Knicks, even without Irving. The Knicks won’t have much of a home-court advantage and they enter Sunday off of a 111-104 loss to the San Antonio Spurs Saturday at MSG. The Nets haven’t played since winning 116-97 over the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Brooklyn is 2-5 on the road while New York is 3-5 at home. The Nets won 113-109 in the first meeting between the two this season in Brooklyn. Irving led the way with 26 points and five assists, but four other players scored in double figures for the Nets.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Brooklyn to win outright fetches a profit of $7.20.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Get slightly better value with the NETS (-1.5, -121) on the spread. They’ll need to win by just two or more points, as they did in late October and in all seven of their victories on the season.

Brooklyn is 7-8 overall ATS and 3-4 ATS on the road. New York is 8-8 overall but just 3-5 at MSG. Only one of the Knicks’ losses this season was by a single point.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 213.5 (-106) as this game is missing the best player for either side in Irving. The Knicks are second-to-last in the league with an Over percentage of just 31.2. They’ve gone 5-11 against the projected totals and fall an average of 3.4 points shy of the number.

The Nets are 7-8 against the O/U but top the projection by 2.4 points on average. Brooklyn will pull away in the fourth quarter against the tired Knicks, but the separation will hinder the point total.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 113, Thunder 102

Moneyline (ML)

With the LAKERS (-189) are an easy play at a relatively modest number as they’re expected to have the services of both Davis and Kuzma on Friday. The No. 1 team in the Western Conference is 4-1 on the road, and has won five straight games with all but one victory coming by a margin of at least five points.

The Thunder (+155) aren’t appealing enough at home, even though they are 5-3 there. They enter the day as losers of consecutive games against the L.A. Clippers and Lakers. OKC did win its last home game, topping the Philadelphia 76ers 127-119 in overtime. But this is a tougher test. The Lakers have the best point differential in basketball at plus-9.8. The Thunder have been outscored by a half-point per game.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager the Lakers to win would return a profit of $5.30.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Increase your profit margin by backing the LAKERS (-5.5, +110) with the points. A win by six or more will return a profit of $11 on a $10 bet, as opposed to the $5.30 reward on a moneyline bet.

L.A. is 9-5 ATS overall and 3-2 ATS on the road. OKC is 9-5 overall and 5-3 at home, but the Lakers cover by an average of 2.1 points per game to the Thunder’s 1.6 margin. OKC drops to 2-4 ATS when having the same amount of rest as its opponents. L.A. is 5-3 in those situations.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 210.5 (-110). Tuesday’s head-to-head meeting cruised past this number with a combined point total of 219.

The Lakers are 7-7 against the O/U overall, but they fall an average of 4.9 points shy of the projection. The Thunder are 6-8 against the O/U and miss the projection by an average of 5.8 points. But with both teams at full strength and well-rested, bettors should expect a higher-scoring affair.

Prediction

76ers 118, Knicks 101

Moneyline (ML)

The Knicks are getting +500 odds as the visitors, which is nearly too tempting to turn down. New York is even coming off an impressive 123-105 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday, but it heads into Philadelphia with a 1-6 road record and is 0-3 against the Atlantic Division.

The 76ers (-714) are an unimpressive 5-5 over their last 10 games, but they’re a perfect 4-0 at Wells Fargo Center and dropped the same Cavaliers team 114-95 on the road Sunday in their last game. They’ll win this handily at full health in their return home, but there’s too much chalk on the moneyline. We’ll play the spread.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The lopsided moneyline is reflected in the spread of -11.5 (-115) for the SIXERS. Take this bet with a high degree of confidence and expect the hosts to come away with a comfortable win by 12 or more points.

The Knicks are 7-7 against the spread and 4-3 on the road while the Sixers are just 6-6 overall and 2-2 at home. Philly outscores the opposition by an average margin of 3.1 points per game with the Knicks losing by an average of 7.1 points per outing. The hosts are expected to put forward a full lineup Wednesday after handing out rest days of late, and they’ll play their first home game in over a week.

The Knicks lost four of their last five road games by margins greater than 12 points, and they will once again in Philadelphia.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 213.5 (-105). The Knicks rank 29th in the NBA with a 4-10 record against the Over/Under and fall an average of four points shy of the projected total while the Sixers are 7-6 against projections and top them by an average of 0.2 points per game.

New York allows 108.9 points per game and Philly gives up 106.7 while scoring 109.8. This will creep just over the line as the 76ers cruise to victory and allow the Knicks to get some easy buckets in garbage time.
