Notre Dame adds another big-time ‘22 defensive prospect

This 2022 Irish defensive haul continues to add impressive prospects

When it rains, it pours, and that’s exactly what is happening right now for Notre Dame recruiting. A few days ago, elite linebacker prospect Jaylen Sneed from South Carolina joined the 2022 Irish recruiting class.

On Thursday, Brian Kelly and his staff went west to Arizona, gaining a commitment from Benjamin Morrison, a 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback.

Morrison becomes the 19th commitment of the class and solidifies its ranking as one of the best in the country. Although the current haul is very defense oriented, what Kelly is putting together this cycle should be looked at as very special.

Morrison is viewed as one of the best at his position in the country; his offer list shows that. Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma and many others wanted his pledge, but once again, the national pull of the Blue and Gold won out in a very highly contested recruiting race.

This class is shaping up to be a foundation for years to come, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Marcus Freeman gets yet another high-level prospect added to his growing, impressive unit.

4-star CB Benjamin Morrison commits to Notre Dame over Oregon

The Ducks missed out on Benjamin Morrison, a 4-star cornerback who announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon.

There were dreams of adding another 4-star prospect to the 2022 recruiting class in Oregon, but that seems to have been too good to be true. For the time being, at least.

4-star cornerback Benjamin Morrison, who played at Brophy College Prep. in Phoenix, chose to commit to Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon, which did not come as a huge surprise, seeing that 247 Sports’ ‘Crystal Ball’ prediction tool was spitting out 100% confidence that Morrison would go to the Irish.

Morrison was also considering Oregon, Washington, Florida State, and Michigan State.

The Ducks’ 2022 recruiting class has been on a roll recently, quickly making its way up the national rankings. After the additions of 5-star OT Kelvin Banks last week, plus 4-star WR Isaiah Sategna, and 4-star OT Cameron Williams, the Ducks have jumped up inside of the top-10. Adding another prospect like Morrison would have propelled them even further, but it wasn’t in the cards.

Sooners make top list for 2022 Arizona cornerback

2022 cornerback from Arizona Benjamin Morrison released his list of top schools this week.

The Oklahoma Sooners are setting their sights on the state of Arizona for another top prospect. Brophy College Prep (Phoenix) cornerback Benjamin Morrison released his top 10 schools. The only Big 12 team to make the list was the Sooners. His list was heavy in the midwest with Notre Dame and a handful of Big Ten schools making the cut as well. Oregon, UCLA, and Washington made up his list from the west coast.

Morrison is the No. 3 player in the state of Arizona and a top 30 cornerback in the country according to Rivals.

“They win and play in big time games. Coach (Roy) Manning and I communicate a lot and I like their entire defensive staff.” – Morrison on the Oklahoma offer

No timetable has been set for his commitment date or trimming down the list at the time of publication.

Cornerback Recruit Benjamin Morrison Receives Offer From Notre Dame

With Nick McCloud’s career for Notre Dame having wrapped up, the search for the Irish’s next great cornerback is on.

With Nick McCloud’s career for Notre Dame having wrapped up, the search for the Irish’s next great cornerback is on. Thanks to Mike Mickens, the program now has an opportunity to grab someone with potential to make an impact. He’s Benjamin Morrison, and he’s been making waves at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix. At 6-foot-0 and 172 pounds, he’ll surely have to put on a little weight before going to the next level, but he’s got a year in which to do it, and he’ll be happy with this offer in the meantime:

Notre Dame, which should be hosting crowds the size of the one in the above picture by the time Morrison would arrive, is the 17th school to make him an offer. He’s also shown interest from programs like Iowa State, UCLA, Florida State, Boston College, Michigan, Michigan State, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Oregon State and Washington. Those are a bunch of programs with varying degrees of history, and we hope that he’s got his eye on South Bend.
