Will Mike Tomlin choose loyalty over Beanie Bishop Jr. in Week 10?

Mike Tomlin has mishandled Steelers’ positional battles in the past. Could Beanie Bishop Jr. and Cameron Sutton’s situation may be next?

Pittsburgh is currently facing another positional battle, which is typically a good problem to have. However, CB Beanie Bishop Jr.’s selection as the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month in October, along with his overall performance in 2024, has muddied the waters surrounding CB Cameron Sutton’s inevitable return.

Bishop took the high road, stating that he is not only unfazed by potentially losing playing time to the veteran CB but is also excited for Sutton to rejoin the team.

Tomlin, however, enjoys letting these positional battles unfold before making quick decisions. As seen with Roman Wilson’s usage prior to his hamstring injury, Tomlin may choose players he trusts, or those to whom he is loyal, over quality play.

In Week 10, is Sutton the next player to ‘earn’ starting responsibilities over a younger, more dynamic player? Only time will tell, but it will be interesting to see how this positional battle unfolds before the Black and Gold faithful’s eyes.

Instant Analysis: Smith takes over, Auburn downs Vanderbilt 94-80

Jabari Smith was unstoppable on this night

Auburn got off to a slow start against a stout Vanderbilt defense but settled in and had one of their best shooting nights of the season.

Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler both set career highs and Auburn beat Vanderbilt 94-80.

With the win, Auburn (24-2, 12-1 SEC) now has a two-game lead in the SEC.

It was all about Smith for Auburn, the freshman scored 31 points on seven made three-points and looked unstoppable.  Kessler added 22 points to power Auburn to the win.

At one point in the game, Smith was shaking his head after drilling a long three-point shot.

“I was just shaking my head feeling sorry for them cause there was nothing they could do at the time.” – Jabari Smith to SEC Network

Here are some immediate takeaways from Auburn’s win over Vanderbilt.

Miami Dolphins head coach announces starter for Week 17 contest vs. Buffalo

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will start in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills with an AFC Wildcard spot on the line.

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played most of the Dolphin’s contest against the Las Vegas Raiders, before getting benched in the middle of the fourth quarter for Ryan Fitzpatrick – the second time since Tagovailoa earned the starting job.

In a game that literally went down to the final minutes, Tagovailoa completed  17 of 22 passes for 94 yards and one touchdown.

Did he look great? No. However, he wasn’t terrible.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has emphasized his desire to win and help Tagovailoa progress as a young NFL quarterback. And that’s just what he did against the Raiders.

Miami is on pace to make the playoffs in an AFC wildcard spot, but could easily be knocked off. With this win, all they need to do is get a win over Buffalo in Week 17 to secure the playoff berth.

Tagovailoa’s NFL record as a starting quarterback improves to 6-2.

Flores made it clear in his post-game press conference that Tagovailoa will be the starter for the Week 17 contest against the Bills.

Tagovailoa also chimed in on Fitzpatrick taking over to secure the win.
