Legacy Motor Club announced on Monday morning that [autotag]Ben Beshore[/autotag] will be Nemechek’s crew chief next year. Beshore and Nemechek were paired at Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series during the 2023 season.

This won’t be the first time that either party has been full-time in the Cup Series. Nemechek spent the 2020 season as the driver of the No. 38 car for Front Row Motorsports before moving down to the NASCAR Truck Series to rebuild his career with Toyota. As for Beshore, he was Kyle Busch’s crew chief in 2021 and 2022 before the driver left for Richard Childress Racing.

Overall, this is a great decision by Legacy Motor Club as the duo showed great promise in 2023. Nemechek went on to win seven Xfinity Series races but fell short of clinching the championship. Luke Lambert, the previous crew chief for the No. 42 car, could stay with the organization but his status is to be determined.

Ben Beshore has joined Legacy Motor Club and will serve as John Hunter Nemechek’s crew chief on the No. 42 team next season

The duo are making the move to Legacy Motor Club together from Joe Gibbs Racing. Beshore guided Nemechek to seven wins in the NASCAR Xfinity series and a fourth-place finish in the championship standings.

“I’m excited to join Legacy Motor Club and continue working with John Hunter in the Cup series – we had so much success last season,” Beshore said. “I’m looking forward to helping build this program into a perennial contender that can compete at the highest level possible each and every week.”

Beshore began his NASCAR career as a race engineer with Jack Roush in 2007 before joining Joe Gibbs Racing in 2014 in the same role. In 2019, Beshore became a crew chief for Gibbs in the Xfinity series, working with multiple drivers on the organization’s All-Star car.

In 2020, Beshore guided Harrison Burton to four victories in the series. Beshore then moved into the Cup series as Kyle Busch’s crew chief for the 2021 and ’22 seasons, winning three races.

Beshore’s role at Legacy Motor Club begins immediately.

“The partnership between driver and crew chief requires a type of chemistry that is hard to find,” Nemechek said. “As a driver, if you’re lucky enough to find a crew chief that you mesh with as well as Ben and I do, you do everything possible to stick together. I look forward to building on our competitive partnership and fighting for more wins and championships.”

Nemechek was announced as the next driver of the No. 42 in September. It is also a return to the Cup series for Nemechek, who ran the full season in 2020.

“The driver-crew chief relationship is something I know well and it’s such an important part of the performance foundation,” said team co-owner Jimmie Johnson. “We are so thankful to see Ben join the Club. His experience with John Hunter and Toyota will help us with the transition and his on-track experience will elevate us in so many ways.
