The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions haven’t had much to be thankful for this season. Despite high expectations heading into the year, both teams have had underwhelming campaigns that have left them outside of the playoff picture to this point. When the two teams play on Thanksgiving day, they will have an opportunity to move in the right direction with a win over a division foe.

The Bears won a defensive struggle in their last game, earning a 19-14 victory over the New York Giants. Chicago lost the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin, but held the Giants offense to 243 yards and rode a 16-0 third quarter to a win. Much maligned quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw for 278 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, with the win silencing his doubters for the time being.
Detroit lost its last game, dropping a 19-16 decision to the Washington Redskins. Jeff Driskel threw three interceptions for the Lions in the game, with four Lions turnovers helping Washington earn its second win of the season. The loss was Detroit’s third straight and seventh out of its last eight games following a 2-0-1 opening to the season. On a short week, the Lions will hope that they can break a two-game losing streak on Thanksgiving day. Last season, the Bears beat the Lions, 34-22, on Thanksgiving day.
Prediction: Our analyst Ryan Brandenburger says to take the Lions (+1) against the Bears, looking like a blowout according to him, 30-16 Lions.
