NFL fans fall in love with Texans’ battle red look against the Jaguars

See what NFL fans are saying about the Houston Texans’ battle red look against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Houston Texans busted out their best attire for a first place showdown with the Jacksonville Jagaurs.

With an impending Week 12 matchup with the Jaguars, the current kings of the AFC South, the Texans decided to use their battle red jerseys.

Not only did the Texans go with their red uniforms, but added a touch with red pants and red helmets.

Given the all red look, Texans fans were all for it. How did the rest of the NFL feel?

Here are some of the best responses.

LOOK: Houston Texans announce 2023 home game themes

Take a look at each home game theme for the Houston Texans in 2023.

The excitement in Space City for the 2023 NFL season is much welcomed, and the Houston Texans did their part to stoke the fan base.

The Texans announced Monday their 2023 themes for each home game at NRG Stadium.

One game that was circled on the calendars of Texans fans before the announcement was Oct. 1 when J.J. Watt is inducted into the Ring of Honor at halftime against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4. Houston is making this their “Legends Homecoming” theme.

The Texans have slated Nov. 26 against the Jacksonville Jaguars as their Battle Red Day for Week 12. It won’t be the only time they wear their Battle Red Helmets as the Texans can wear those a maximum of three times this season.

Here is a look at all of the home game themes for the Texans at NRG Stadium throughout the preseason and regular season.

Justin Verlander’s brother questions Texans wearing red against the Eagles

Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander’s brother doesn’t know why the Houston Texans are wearing red against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not everyone affiliated with Houston sports is onboard with Battle Red Day.

Count Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander’s brother, Ben Verlander, as one of them.

The former member of the Detroit Tigers organization and current Fox Sports MLB analyst quote-tweeted the Houston Texans’ official Twitter account when it asked fans to wear red on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Certainly feels like an odd night for the Texans to ask everyone to wear red,” Verlander wrote.

Thursday night is also Game 5 of the World Series between the Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies, who coincidentally have red as one of their main uniform colors.

Of course, the NFL schedule was released in May. No one had any idea who the World Series participants would be in late October, and certainly early in October no one south of the Mason-Dickson Line was picking the Phillies.

Houston announced on July 19 their home game themes — again, when no one had any clue who would be playing in the World Series.

Texans are set to host ‘Battle Red Day’ for matchup vs. Eagles

This “Battle Red Day” occasion comes on a week where the #Texans are the heaviest of underdogs against the undefeated #Eagles in primetime

If the Houston Texans are going to lose on Thursday, at least they will be doing it in style. The team announced on Tuesday that they will be hosting a “Battle Red Event” for their primetime matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles which will feature red end zones and their red alternate helmets.

Fans will receive a “Battle Red H-Town” towel upon entry to the stadium, with other themed merchandise available for purchase at stadium concessions. Along with the end zone’s color change will be a difference in text from previous games, with one end reading “Houston” and the other “Texans” with white lettering that will be outlined in blue for the occasion.

Rapper Slim Thug will serve as the team’s battle drum representative to get fans excited for what is likely to be a defeat of epic proportions.

This event will be sponsored by Mattress Firm, and the company’s chief merchandising officer Anne Dament set to be the coin toss captain. Mattress Firm also joined the Texans in surprising one deserving teacher at Mandarin Immersion Magnet School with supplies and equipment for their classroom, along with a $1,500 grant for the class they teach.

While it is nice to see the team invest in this primetime experience for fans, it won’t mean much to them if the Texans don’t play a competitive game of football for the occasion. After getting absolutely manhandled by the Titans on Sunday, anything less than a competent showing, even if they don’t win, on Thursday night will be viewed as an abject failure.

Their opponent, the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, will be a tough out. Given all of Houston’s off-field investment in this game, the most disappointing outcome possible would be for the Texans to be systematically dismantled for a second time in five days.

Watch for them to play with an extra edge to prove that they aren’t a team that will be easily stepped on by more established opponents.

Houston Texans announce home game themes for 2022

The Houston Texans announced their home game theme for the 2022 preseason and regular season. Here is a look at the themes for NRG Stadium.

The Houston Texans announced their 2022 home game themes.

The themes range from Liberty White Out when the Texans wear white jerseys and white pants — generally for the first home game of the year — to Battle Red Day when the Texans wear red jerseys.

Other home game themes help raise awareness for causes, such as Pink Ribbon Day, which helps draw attention to the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, which emphasizes cancer screenings and early detection.

The final two home game themes are the most exciting for fans. Homecoming will feature former Texans players coming back to NRG Stadium, and Fan Appreciation Day will be the Texans’ way of thanking fans for their support in 2022.

Here is a list of the home game themes.

Texans to wear Battle Red helmets for Philadelphia Eagles game Nov. 3

The Houston Texans will wear their new Battle Red helmets with their Battle Red jerseys against the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 3.

The Houston Texans have added another element to their uniforms.

The team announced Tuesday they will be wearing a new Battle Red helmet with their Battle Red uniforms when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football on Nov. 3 at NRG Stadium.

“We’re thrilled to debut our new Battle Red Helmet as we continue to evolve as an organization,” Texans President Greg Grissom said. “We’ve consistently shown we’re not afraid to try new things, so we jumped at the chance to design an alternate helmet that will complement our uniforms, especially the Battle Red jersey. The start of Training Camp is on the horizon and we’re excited that our fans will have the opportunity to get a sneak peek of the new helmet in person soon.”

The Texans have worn Deep Steel Blue helmets with all of their uniforms since the team’s inception. With the NFL providing for teams to wear a second helmet in 2022 as part of their updated uniform policy, the Texans were able to add the Battle Red helmets.

Texans fans will actually get to see how the Battle Red helmets look in person when the team hosts their Back Together Saturday training camp practice July 30. The helmets will also be available for purchase at the Houston Texans Team Shop later this fall and online at Fanatics.com starting July 25.

Additionally, there will be a contest wherein one fan will be chosen to win one of the first Battle Red helmets. The contest form can be found here, and the winner will be announced on SportsRadio 610’s “Payne & Pendergast” on Monday, July 25.

Battle Red Helmets will be available for fans to purchase this fall. For Houston Texans ticket information, visit HoustonTexans.com/Tickets or call 832-667-2002.

Fans can also purchase the team’s new limited-edition Battle Red T-shirts throughout training camp with proceeds benefiting the Houston Texans Foundation. More information can be found on the team’s 2022 Training Camp page.

The Houston Texans are asking their fans to wear red for Battle Red Day against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13.

The Houston Texans are encouraging fans to show up in red at NRG Stadium for Battle Red Day against the Indianapolis Colts.

Houston takes on their AFC South rivals Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time in a rematch of a Week 6 beating at the hands Indianapolis, 31-3.

The first 10,000 fans who arrive at the stadium will get a Battle Red Day t-shirt. Starting at 9:30 a.m., fans can visit the BULLevard to partake in two attractions exclusive to Battle Red Day: the Jameson Ultimate Tailgate located directly south of the Astrodome (ages 21 and up), and the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan, where fans can take a photo with Santa Claus. Fans will be welcomed at gates by Percussion One.

Delphi Borich, the star of Theater Under the Stars’ production of “The Little Mermaid,” will sing the national anthem. The Battle Red Ladies joined by Brazoswood Air Force JROTC will be the U.S. flag holders. Presenting the colors will be the United States Marine Corps.

Astros pitcher Lance McCullers will be the Homefield Advantage Captain. Mattress Firm chief retail officer Jody Putnam will serve as the virtual coin toss captain.

The Ocean of Soul Marching Band from Texas Southern University will perform on-field at halftime.

Sunday will also be “My Cause, My Cleats” across the NFL, where players are given the opportunity to choose a cause that is important to them and represent it on game day. Over 30 Texans will participate in this year’s campaign, including quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who visited the Boys & Girls Club — Stafford Club earlier this week. Taylor’s cleats will represent the Tyrod Taylor Foundation, which helps support youth programs including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.

Check out the Texans’ home-field advantage in ‘Madden 22’

EA Sports released the Houston Texans’ home-field advantage at NRG Stadium for “Madden 22.”

The Houston Texans will have an interesting home-field advantage at NRG Stadium in “Madden 22.”

The NFL video game produced by EA Sports has a new feature where every team has a home-field advantage. For example, when a team plays the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field, they will have to overcome the fact the Jags get bonus momentum when they score a touchdown.

What kind of home-field advantage did the Texans get?

If an opponent scores a touchdown against Houston at NRG Stadium, they just don’t receive as much momentum as they do in other stadiums. EA Sports dubbed this particular home-field advantage “The Bullpen.”

The Indianapolis Colts’ home-field advantage is being able to see the hat count for the opponent on all plays via the coach cam. The Tennessee Titans’ advantage is being able to avoid committing holding penalties.

Opponents scored 28 touchdowns against the Texans at NRG Stadium in 2020. The momentum must have been compounding as the Texans had a 2-6 record inside their own building.[listicle id=61409]
