Ravens cut TEs Jerell Adams, Eli Wolf, and Charles Scarff

The Baltimore Ravens only have two tight ends on the roster after cutting Jerell Adams, Eli Wolf, and Charles Scarff at the roster deadline

The Baltimore Ravens made their third tight end spot a big deal this offseason. But as the team made cuts down to the 53-man roster, it seems they didn’t like any of the other tight ends they had.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, the Ravens cut tight ends Jerell Adams, Eli Wolf, and Charles Scarff. That leaves Baltimore with just Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle on the roster. It also likely indicates yet another expansion in role for Patrick Ricard, who has played on offense, defense, and special teams throughout his career.

Ricard was given some snaps at tight end throughout training camp and apparently impressed enough for the Ravens to gamble on their depth at the position. He’s previously shown some ability as both a blocker and pass catcher at fullback, catching 12 passes for 59 yards and three touchdowns over the last three seasons in Baltimore. Ricard got a heavier dose of action last year, catching eight passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.

With the Ravens having brought former tight end turned offensive lineman Crockett Gilmore in for a tryout recently, Baltimore isn’t likely done figuring out their tight end group. But with everyone else cut, it seems like the answer is either Ricard or not on the roster right now.

Report: Ravens cut UDFA QB Tyler Huntley

The Baltimore Ravens are cutting UDFA quarterback Tyler Huntley, making way for Trace McSorley to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster again.

The Baltimore Ravens continue to make their cuts as they look to create the best 53-man roster possible for the regular season. That means trimming back at the most important position on the team: quarterback.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, the Ravens have cut undrafted free agent quarterback Tyler Huntley. The move comes as a bit of a shock since Huntley had been outplaying Trace McSorley throughout training camp, showing off a big arm and accuracy to go along with his mobility.

Baltimore coach John Harbaugh indicated the team was likely to keep three quarterbacks on the roster yet again this season. This bucks a tradition of keeping just two on the roster in previous years. However, with primary backup quarterback Robert Griffin III in the final year of his contract and having said he wants to start again, the third quarterback would seemingly be groomed to be Lamar Jackson’s backup as early as next year. The decision was too close to call heading toward the deadline with McSorley’s experience likely winning out over Huntley’s offseason play.

The decision to cut Huntley is yet another blow to the Ravens’ chances of keeping a UDFA on the team. Huntley and safety Nigel Warrior seemingly had the best chances of making Baltimore’s 53-man roster, but have been cut with a chance to return on the practice squad. The coronavirus pandemic has made it harder for undrafted players to make the team this season, potentially breaking a 16-year streak of the Ravens keeping at least one UDFA on the 53-man roster.

Report: Ravens cut UDFA S Nigel Warrior

The Baltimore Ravens are parting ways with one of their top performing UDFAs after cutting safety Nigel Warrior

The Baltimore Ravens can’t keep everyone, even if they’d very much like to. With the deadline to have the 53-man roster set coming later today, the Ravens are getting a quick jump on their cuts. Unfortunately, that means some difficult decisions.

Baltimore is cutting UDFA safety Nigel Warrior, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec.

The decision comes as a bit of a shock since Warrior has played well throughout training camp, including a rare interception. It was figured with the Ravens cutting veteran safety Earl Thomas earlier this offseason that an extra spot would be available for a player like Warrior. While it doesn’t guarantee anything, it likely means Baltimore will keep seventh-round pick Geno Stone instead.

Warrior had a great senior year at Tennessee. He amassed 60 total tackles, including two for a loss, as well as four interceptions in 2019.

Warrior was one of the few undrafted players with the best chance to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster. Baltimore has kept at least one UDFA each year over the last 16 seasons, but with Warrior gone, it puts the streak in serious jeopardy. There’s still hope Warrior can return to the Ravens via the practice squad.
