There is serious history between Wisconsin basketball and Arizona

The Badgers renew their series with Arizona

On Saturday, a matchup that has been the subject of many big games over the years is renewed in Tucson, Arizona. The Badgers, now in the AP Top 25 at No. 23, will visit the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats at the McKale Memorial Center.

The two programs have met seven times, but four of the seven have come in the NCAA Tournament. In a game that included a ten-minute Badger field goal drought, Tyler Wahl and Chucky Hepburn shooting a combined 4-20 from the field, and back-and-forth runs, Wisconsin improved their NCAA Tournament bubble case with a win over Michigan.

That field goal drought? It came in the final 10:47 of the second half. A Connor Essegian layup with 10:47 left was the final Wisconsin field goal of the night, and they still came away with a win.

With the victory, Wisconsin improved to 7-8 in the Big Ten and 15-10 overall. The Badgers are firmly on the bubble, and will need to play their way into the NCAA Tournament over the next few weeks.

Ten takeaways from Wisconsin’s heartbreaking loss to Kansas

The Badgers fall in heartbreaking fashion

Wisconsin gave No. 3 Kansas everything they could handle and then a whole lot more, but in the end the fight fell 0.2 seconds short as the Jayhawks escaped with a 69-68 win.

Wisconsin fell to 4-1, but even in a loss it felt like one of the most impressive Badger basketball performances in recent memory. Trailing by 15 in the second half, the Badgers could have packed their bags but instead they went on a number of runs, the final one culminating in a three-point lead with under 20 seconds left in regulation.

Kansas made just enough key plays to escape, as a Bobby Pettiford Jr. put in an acrobatic layup with 0.2 seconds left to break Wisconsin hearts.

There were a number of impressive takeaways for Wisconsin in an impressive loss. Here is what Badger fans can take from an incredible fight in The Bahamas:
