Kyler Murray offers classy response to the fan who struck him during Cardinals’ celebration

Taking the high road.

The mood around the Arizona Cardinals’ thrilling overtime victory over the Raiders was briefly soured this past weekend when footage showed a fan striking quarterback Kyler Murray in the face during the celebration. In the time since the video made rounds on social media, Las Vegas Police has said it is investigating the incident, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury called for the fan to be banned from NFL games.

Murray, though, appears to be taking a much different tone after a few days to reflect on the ordeal.

Speaking to reporters in Arizona on Wednesday, Murray said that he had no hard feelings towards the fan who hit him. And while he didn’t appreciate the physical contact (and clearly looked upset at the time), Murray said that he would shake the fan’s hand if the two ever met.

Murray said:

“Stuff happens fast. … I don’t know if he probably didn’t know where he was. I don’t know — it was a pretty live game. Vegas is Vegas. I’m sure he was having fun. But! Again, I don’t know. I don’t think any player should be getting touched in that manner, but no hard feelings towards the guy. If I see him, I’d shake his hand. But it is what it is.”

Obviously, the fan should be held accountable and doesn’t deserve to attend any future NFL games if they determine he intentionally struck Murray. But at the same time, it was a nice gesture from Murray to be willing to move on from the incident and offer some forgiveness.

Fans also appreciated how Murray is handling the situation.

A fan appeared to strike Kyler Murray during the Cardinals’ postgame celebration against the Raiders

Don’t be this fan.

The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in one of the wilder games we’ll see this NFL season. The Cardinals overcame a 20-point halftime deficit, converted a two-point conversion on a play that took nearly 21 seconds and almost threw the game-winning touchdown away shy of the goal line.

But amid that remarkable win, there appeared to be an ugly scene postgame at Allegiant Stadium.

As Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was celebrating Byron Murphy’s overtime touchdown, he ran over to a group of Cardinals fans seated in the front row at the field-level club. And at around the 28-second mark in the video below, we could see a fan strike Murray in the face with an open hand and follow through.

Here’s a slowed-down look at the incident:

Murray’s celebratory mood understandably turned sour at that point as he turned back to confront the fan who made contact with his face. Some words were exchanged before Murray removed himself from the situation.

The fan in question appeared to be the man in the gray shirt — he wasn’t wearing Cardinals or Raiders gear. It’s unclear if the Raiders are working to identify the fan, but For The Win has reached out to the Raiders for comment and will update with their response.

Fans did want to see action taken against this person as there’s never an excuse to hit a player.

A grown man was jockeying for All-Star Game autographs and MLB fans were not impressed

Don’t be this fan.

For young fans at a ballgame, there aren’t many cooler experiences than getting an autograph from a big-league player. There’s no intention to flip the autograph for a profit. It’s just a genuine moment where young fans get to connect with their favorite players and head home with a keepsake.

But once you hit the age where you’re actually older than some of the players, it’s a good time to stop chasing autographs. And it’s never a good look to compete with actual children for those autographs.

So, with all that in mind, you can understand why MLB fans were not happy to see pre-All-Star Game video of an older Padres fan — with two baseballs in hand — physically jockeying for position to get autographs from Justin Verlander. At one point, this guy elbowed a kid who took issue with how he was reaching over.

While big-league players try to avoid signing for the obvious profit-seeking adult, it’s never a good look to see an adult fan push away children all in the hopes of scoring an autograph. It looked like an Impractical Jokers bit because, well, Impractical Jokers did a similar prank five years ago with the Mets.

But it appeared to be real this time.

Don’t be that fan.

MLB fans weren’t happy after a Yankees fan took a baseball from Aaron Judge out of a young kid’s glove

Don’t be that fan.

When it comes to great moments in the stands, it’s so easy to think back to early May where a Blue Jays fan in Toronto caught a home run from Aaron Judge and immediately gave the baseball to a young Yankees fan. It was a simple act of kindness that captured the attention of the entire baseball world.

On Tuesday night, though, we saw the other side of that spectrum take place at Yankee Stadium. And honestly, it was tough to watch.

The broadcast from the Yankees’ win over the Orioles showed Judge retrieving a foul ball down the right-field line and looking to give a young fan a memorable experience with a souvenir. Judge was placing the baseball directly in the young fan’s glove when an adult Yankees fan swooped in and took the baseball to the complete shock of everyone around them.

I mean, who does that?

While young fans aren’t necessarily entitled to baseballs that are thrown into the stands, that baseball was clearly going to the kid. It was being placed in the glove, so it really made no sense for an actual adult to jump in and grab the ball away. And on top of that, he acted thrilled as if he had just accomplished something.

Not cool at all, man.

Let’s hope the Yankees find a way to connect with the young fan and make things right because he really didn’t deserve what happened there.

MLB Twitter wasn’t thrilled with the older fan’s antics either.

Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo got into a heated postgame exchange with Greek fan

This fan crossed the line.

The Los Angeles Lakers edged out the Bucks on Friday night, 113-103, in what was a matchup between two of the leading MVP candidates: Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James.

Though Giannis put up 32 points and 10 rebounds, the losing effort did not go over well with one fan in the tunnel at Staples Center.

Video hit Twitter over the weekend showing someone yell at Giannis and his brother, Thanasis, in Greek after the game. The fan’s remarks caught the Bucks teammates’ attention, and they ran over to the Greek fan to confront him. It was clear that both Giannis and Thanasis didn’t appreciate what was said.

According to greekcitytimes.com, the translated exchange went something like this:

The fan in the video is heard saying “Giannis you ate it in the (expletive) today.”

“Come back here and say it to my face, say it to my face you little chicken,” Thanasis immediately responded, before ending the brief exchange by saying “Your kids must be happy for you.”

The players then made their way to the locker room with no further incident.

It’s unclear how this fan got to be in the tunnel, and he certainly shouldn’t be allowed back there again. There’s no place in the sport for that kind of behavior.

An adult Redskins fan took a football away from a young Jets fan

Bad look.

It’s never a good look when an adult fan makes a concerted effort to take a ball away from a kid at a sporting event. Yet, it keeps happening.

While this is generally a problem in baseball given the frequency of baseballs entering the stands, one of the most egregious violations of this unwritten fan rule came during Sunday’s Jets-Redskins game.

Jets receiver Robby Anderson made a clumsy leap into the stands at FedExField to celebrate a touchdown with a small pocket of Jets fans in the first row. As he seemingly attempted to hand the football to a young Jets fan, an adult Redskins fan could be seen snatching the ball away from the kid.

Seriously, don’t be that fan.

It was a bit of a chaotic sequence, and Anderson was only just starting his reach towards the young fan. But you can see the adult Redskins fan make sure nobody else was getting that football.

Despite getting robbed of a souvenir football, the young fan handled the entire sequence well. He continued to celebrate alongside the Jets receiver.
