Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on Rashee Rice’s status amid police investigation

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke about Rashee Rice’s status during his comments to the media on Monday.

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to start the first phase of their offseason program this week. The coming period will consist of meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation. The players and coaches will communicate voluntarily via Zoom to keep everyone on track during the offseason.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has many things on his mind ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, which is only days away. On Monday, he took time to answer questions from the media about various topics, including the status of wide receiver Rashee Rice, who is facing eight felony counts after a high-speed car accident in Dallas last month.

“I’m leaving, like we’ve done most of these [player legal matters], just for the law enforcement part of it to take place, and then we’ll go from there with that,” Reid said. “I have had an opportunity to talk to Rashee, so I’m not going to obviously get into that. But anyway, that part has been gone through.”

According to the Dallas Morning News, police said Rice was driving 119 mph ahead of the crash, which injured at least four people. He has cooperated with authorities since the incident. Reid told reporters about Rice’s current involvement during the offseason workout plan later in his comments to the media.

“So there’s no real participation other than Zoom, so he’ll participate in that,” Reid said. “Other than that, we don’t have anything going on here that he would be involved with. Again, just a reminder on this: It’s voluntary. So as we go forward, that’s also another part of it.”

On-field workouts are part of the offseason program’s second phase, and because of the investigation, there hasn’t yet been a clear indication of whether Rice will be allowed to participate in Kansas City.

“We’ll just see how it goes,” Reid said of Rice’s involvement. “I mean, I want to keep gathering information from the law enforcement people. We’ll just see where everything goes from there. Let the process take place.”

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice issues personal apology after car accident in Dallas

Kansas City #Chiefs WR Rashee Rice issued a personal apology on Instagram after being involved in a serious car accident in Dallas, Texas.

An investigation is underway after a car accident last weekend that involved Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. The crash injured four people and led to the young receiver being sought by Dallas police for questioning after it was reported that one of the vehicles was registered in his name.

Rice had a statement released on his behalf earlier this week from his lawyer but decided to speak personally via his Instagram Stories.

“Today, I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s incident,” Rice wrote. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”

According to league spokesman Brian McCarthy, the NFL is monitoring the situation. Chiefs president Mark Donovan took a similar approach when speaking on KCMO this week: “We’ll get to the bottom of it, we’ll gather the facts, and we’ll react accordingly.”

The Chiefs are moving like business as usual until more details are released during the investigation. The 2023 rookie standout is working with authorities but faces an uncertain future until rulings are made.

Rashee Rice’s lawyer issues statement after serious wreck in Dallas

Rashee Rice’s lawyer issued a statement on Monday after he was allegedly involved in a serious accident in Dallas, Texas over the weekend.

A high-speed car accident in Dallas was a topic of serious discussion around the NFL this weekend after Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was connected with the incident. The Dallas Morning News on Sunday morning reported that a vehicle registered to him was involved in the crash.

In response, Rice has hired attorney Royce West, who released a statement on the matter Monday afternoon, just a day after the incident.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the statement on his X account.

Since yesterday, there haven’t been any concrete details to report amid the many assumptions swirling on social media. Whether Rice himself was involved in the incident is still unclear. For now, the statement posted by Schefter serves as the only acknowledgment of the incident by the wide receiver.

As details become available, this story will be updated.

Rashee Rice sought by Dallas police after major accident

#Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is reportedly being sought by police in Dallas after a serious automobile accident.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason took a strange turn when reports of Rashee Rice’s potential involvement in a serious automobile accident in Dallas surfaced early on Sunday morning.

It is unclear whether Rice was at the wheel when the accident occurred, but a vehicle registered to him was involved in a crash, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Police in Dallas were searching for Rice, the newspaper reported, though his connection to the accident remains murky.

Rice was selected by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft and found a significant role in Kansas City’s offense by the end of last season.

A Dallas native, Rice played his college ball at Southern Methodist and became one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets after attending the then-reigning MVP’s throwing sessions in the Lone Star State last offseason.
