2023 Baylor quarterback commit has official visit with Ohio State

Austin Novosad took an official visit to Ohio State. Could the Buckeyes sway the four-star quarterback to leave Baylor at the alter?

Ohio State has talent aplenty in the quarterback room and with 2024 five-star Dylan Raiola committing earlier this year, the Buckeyes seem to be set for the future. But can you really have too much talent?

While Ryan Day has absolute studs to work with and choose from, the coaching staff would still like to bring in a quarterback in the 2023 class. We shared recently that OSU had extended an offer to four-star recruit Austin Novosad, who happens to be verbally committed to Baylor University. The fast-rising quarterback took an official visit to Ohio State this past weekend.

The Texas native is the No. 17 ranked QB in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Until the official letter of intent is signed, high school athletes are still free agents, and what may have been an afterthought now seems to be picking up steam. Rumors are that Novasad had a very good visit and is considering all options.

He will take his official visit to Baylor this weekend. Will the spark that wooed Novosad be confirmed or will he jilt the Bears for the scarlet and gray? It may be hard to walk away from your first love, but Novosad is certainly being tempted to look.

I think it’s still a long shot to flip the young quarterback, but it sounds like the Buckeyes are putting on the full-court press to try and make it happen. It looks like we’ll know more after next week’s trip to Waco.

Ohio State offers 2023 Baylor quarterback commit

Could Ohio State flip long-standing Baylor quarterback commit, Austin Novosad?

The Ohio State quarterback room is stacked, to say the least. Three five-star QBs led by Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud have the Buckeyes sitting pretty for the foreseeable future. Plus Ryan Day already has a commitment from another five-star gun slinger in Dylan Raiola headlining the 2024 class.

However… can you really have too much talent in the quarterback room? Injuries and the transfer portal say no, no you can’t. And while the coaching staff is racking up commitment after commitment and currently has the No. 4 ranked class in the country, they have yet to land a commitment at the quarterback position for 2023.

After seeing a talented crop of campers on Wednesday, the Buckeyes have extended an offer to 2023 quarterback and four-star recruit, Austin Novosad. The interesting thing about Novosad is that he has already given a verbal commitment to the Baylor Bears.

Novosad is the No. 17 ranked QB in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings and hails from Dripping Springs, Texas.

In the world of big-time college athletics, verbal commitments don’t mean much until pen hits paper.  Could there be a chance that the Buckeyes could flip a player who’s been committed since December of 2021? Even with all the talent that resides in Columbus? Don’t count Ohio State out. At the very least, the young man will have to seriously consider his options.
