Auburn Morning Rush: Soccer falls to Alabama, Baseball to play Alabama for exhibition

Soccer came up just short on Senior Night and the baseball team is ready for a showdown with Alabama.

We have nearly made it to the weekend and there is no better way to start your Friday than with the Auburn Morning Rush.

Today’s edition starts with the soccer program, the Tigers fell to Alabama 1-0 Thursday night at the Auburn Sports Complex.

The baseball team is set to close their fall exhibition slate Friday at Plainsman Park against the Crimson Tide. The game will also benefit the Beat Bama Food Drive.

The men’s tennis program revealed its 2023 schedule for the season and some great teams will be coming to the Plains. They will have 14 matches at home and will also host the SEC Champions to close the season.

Finally, the swim and dive program traveled to Baton Rouge and took care of LSU, sweeping the matches 2-0.

Auburn, swimming and diving coach Gary Taylor part ways after three seasons

Auburn and head swimming and diving coach Gary Taylor have agreed to mutually part ways after three seasons.

The search for the person that can take Auburn swimming and diving back to the national-title level that the Tigers were used to back in the 1990s and 200s continues.

On Monday, Auburn athletic director Allen Greene announced that the university and coach Gary Taylor have agreed to mutually part ways after three seasons.

“Auburn is appreciative to Gary for his service to the Auburn swimming and diving program,” Greene said.  “We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

A powerhouse for two decades, the Tigers have yet to find a way to get back to competing for SEC and national titles as the last time Auburn won a conference championship was in 2012 by the men.
