Bryan Harsin is looking forward to Tiger Walk

Auburn’s new head coach is ready to experience Tiger Walk in 2021.

Bryan Harsin is still getting acclimated to the Auburn traditions. One that he’s excited to experience for the first time in Tiger Walk.

He mentioned it in his opening statement at SEC media days on Thursday.

“For me, the things I’m most excited about, I’m excited about Tiger Walk,” said Harsin. “I want to walk from South Donahue all the way down into Jordan-Hare Stadium, and I want to see all those people yelling, War Eagle.

“I want to be in that stadium with 90,000 people going crazy, because I’ve heard nothing but how the environment is, and I got a chance to experience that in a bad way when I was at Arkansas State.

“So I’ve got a little taste of that, and now those folks are going to be on our side. And I want to be able to be part of a program that, when you win, your fans go crazy and go downtown and we toilet paper trees. I mean, how awesome is that? I’ve never been a part of that. I’ve been a part of great programs and I’ve been around great people, but you have all these things. For me, I’m looking forward to that.

“That’s why you come to Auburn. That’s why you’re in the SEC, because it does mean more, and opportunities like that, it’s not like that at other places. So my family, myself, our coaching staff, we’re all excited to be here. We’re all proud to represent Auburn University. We love where we live, we love the people in our community, and we love the staff we put together.

Auburn target announcing decision today

Auburn may land a commitment on Tuesday…

Jay Fair will announce where he will be playing college football today and many experts are believing that the school will be Auburn University.

Fair, a Rockwall, Texas native, will be announcing his decision today at noon between Auburn, Florida, and TCU. Nick Harris, a 247Sports contributor from Texas, and Keith Niebuhr, a 247Sports contributor from Auburn, both have placed crystal ball predictions for Fair to select Auburn.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound wide receiver is listed as a three-star prospect for 247Sports. His elite speed may allow him to earn that fourth star during his senior season. He ran a 23.33 200 meter race as a sophomore in track.

His most recent official visit was to Auburn when he visited The Plains on June 18th.

Auburn freshmen impact (No. 9: Ahmari Harvey)

Auburn’s got a good one in Ahmari Harvey…

This is the eighth article in a series detailing and ranking the incoming Auburn freshmen’s impact in 2021.

Name: Ahmari Harvey

Position: Saftey

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 175 lbs

Hometown: Tallahassee, Florida

High School: Florida State University School

Twitter: @Ahmari_saucy

His impact in 2021: Harvey has tremendous upside as a football player. He saw the field in every way possible for Florida State University High School as a junior. Harvey caught 40 passes for 642 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 94 tackles and six interceptions. He also had a kick return touchdown. Harvey will be behind quality depth such as Bydarrius Knighton and Donovan Kaufman, but because of his raw athleticism, he should find the field in some way in 2021.

Bryan Harsin is ranked outside the top-100 in latest ESPN list

How does Bryan Harsin rank as a player-turned-coach?

Opinions about Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin are all over the place, but how about his time as a player?

ESPN put out an article (subscription required) ranking the top 130 FBS head coaches as players.

Harsin, a former quarterback, threw limited passes during his playing days at Boise State but turned that experience into a successful coaching career.

In the article, written by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Harsin comes in at number 106 overall.

“Before taking the Auburn job, Harsin spent practically his entire life in Boise, Idaho,” Rittenberg writes. “After playing for Boise’s Capital High School, he was a Boise State quarterback from 1996 to 1999. Harsin didn’t play much, though, recording only 39 pass attempts.”

Auburn freshmen impact (No. 12: Ian Mathews)

Expect defensive lineman Ian Mathews to get his shot at playing time early in the season.

This is the fifth article in a series detailing and ranking the incoming Auburn freshmen’s impact in 2021.

Name: Ian Matthews

Position: Defensive Lineman

Height: 6’5”

Weight: 270 lbs

Hometown: Columbus, Georgia

High School: Pacelli

Twitter: @Bigiannnn

His impact in 2021: Auburn needs some guys to step up on the defensive line. A new three-man front is going to limit the number of guys that can be on the field at once but defensive coordinator Derek Mason should rotate his pieces up front early in the season to get a pecking order solidified. Ian Mathews could be a guy we see early in the season get a shot at playing d-line. Mathews had 32.5 tackles, 18.5 TFL, seven sacks, two PBU, and two forced fumbles as a senior at Pacelli High School in Columbus, Georgia. The former 3-star may get buried behind Auburn’s new transfers along with the veterans on the line as the season progresses, but don’t be shocked if Mathews gets his shot early in the season.

Auburn freshmen impact (No. 13: Tar’Varish Dawson)

Get to know Auburn freshman Tar’Varish Dawson.

This is the fourth article in a series detailing and ranking the incoming Auburn freshmen’s impact in 2021.

Name: Tar’Varish Dawson

Position: Wide Receiver

Height: 5’11”

Weight: 165 lbs

Hometown: Fort Meyers, Florida

High School: Lehigh Senior

Twitter: TarvarishD

His impact in 2021: In a young receiver room, Dawson may be hidden in the depth chart until 2022. However, he has tremendous upside as an athlete. He had eight receptions for 690 yards with nine touchdown catches and 290 rushing yards with six touchdown runs plus seven interceptions as a senior. He also had a punt return for a touchdown. Tar’Varish is a speedy athlete that could see the field in multiple ways during his time with the Tigers. Give him a year to get his feet wet.

3-Star Target posts Auburn graphic with Joe Burrow’s Heisman Trophy

Auburn’s design team made an interesting decision here…

[mm-video type=video id=01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452 playlist_id=01eqbyzb4ahnasj2m3 player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452/01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452-0f7e87bd6afef2aeff33e24f0a247b1c.jpg]

Auburn’s graphics team used a picture of former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow’s Heisman Trophy.

In recruiting, image is everything. At Auburn, the school does a great job at getting graphics in the hands of recruits so they can post them on their personal social media pages.

On Tuesday, Jacob Hood, a 3-star recruit from Nashville, Tennessee, posted a picture on his Twitter page. The graphic was him standing next to a Heisman Trophy with the words “Heisman Hood” below him.

On the Heisman Trophy, it has Burrow’s name on it. The interesting thing about this is that Auburn has three Heisman winners in its history.

Interesting design choice.

Auburn freshmen impact (No. 14: Cayden Bridges)

Get to know incoming freshman Cayden Bridges.

[mm-video type=video id=01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452 playlist_id=01eqbyzb4ahnasj2m3 player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452/01fakk7zpj3k9dv6z452-0f7e87bd6afef2aeff33e24f0a247b1c.jpg]

This is the third article in a series detailing and ranking the incoming Auburn freshmen’s impact in 2021.

Name: Cayden Bridges

Position: Saftey

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 190 lbs

Hometown: Magee, Mississippi

High School: Magee

Twitter: @03Cayden

His impact in 2021: Virtually non-existent, at least this season. Bridges had 52 tackles, six TFL, four interceptions in his senior season.  He also caught 44 passes for 606 yards and seven touchdowns. He will also play baseball for the Tigers. He is a talented athlete. However, with Auburn’s depth at the safety spot, Bridges should be a 2022 role player at best, especially with other incoming freshmen Ahmari Harvey and Vanderbilt transfer Donovan Kaufman sitting above him currently on the depth chart.
