Here are the best photo’s from Auburn’s Thursday practice ahead of their first scrimmage on Saturday.

Auburn’s march to the season continues this weekend with the Tiger’s first scrimmage of fall camp taking place in Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday Saturday night.

It is one of the most important steps of the camp and could mark a turning point in Auburn’s quarterback battle. The trio of [autotag]Zach Calzada[/autotag], [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag], and [autotag]TJ Finley[/autotag] are all battling for the starting job currently and are expected to receive equal reps with the first team.

If one or two of them perform well they could start to separate themselves and allow the coaching staff to narrow the competition. Stay tuned to Auburn Wire for reaction to the scrimmage and until then, here are the best photos from Auburn’s Thursday practice.

Here are some of the best photos from Auburn’s practice on Sunday.

Auburn completed its first partial week of fall camp on Sunday. The Tigers will start their first full week of practice on Monday and have their first scrimmage coming on Saturday.

The biggest question around Auburn’s fall camp is about who will win the quarterback battle, with the Tigers having their first true battle at quarterback since 2019. [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and offensive coordinator [autotag]Eric Kiesau[/autotag] also have to replace several starting wide receivers and see if any changes are needed along the offensive line.

The Tigers still have several weeks to answer these questions and until then here are some photos from Auburn athletics photographer Todd Van Emst.

Three losers from Auburn’s second scrimmage

Auburn had some guys that did not take a step forward Friday night.

Auburn’s second scrimmage Friday night mirrored much of what happened in the first scrimmage a week ago.

Auburn’s offense was stifled by the veteran defense. Auburn could not get much going and the defense wreaked havoc.

Let’s take a look at some of the losers from Friday night’s scrimmage.

Auburn held their first scrimmage in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night.

There were definitely highlights from the scrimmage according to Bryan Harsin, but there were some issues that need to be addressed on the offensive side of the ball.

Sure, the defense should be expected to win the first fall camp scrimmage based on the way things flow in camp. The defensive line in particular balled out. However, there were some inconsistencies from players on the offensive side of the ball that should not go unnoticed.

‘I’m trying my hardest,’ Bo Nix says quarterback room is competitive

Nix told the media how competitive the quarterback room has gotten during fall camp.

When former LSU quarterback TJ Finley officially announced he was transferring to Auburn, questions surrounding the quarterback position arose.

Could Finley make a push for the starting job? Does this coaching staff not trust the depth at the position? Do they not trust Bo Nix?

Since then, Nix has solidified himself as the starter moving into fall camp. However, there seems to be a lot of competition going on inside the QB room.

Nix spoke with the media on Thursday about how having Finley in practices, pushing him to perform better.

“Having Grant (Loy), TJ (Finley), Dematrius (Davis), just a room full of talented guys is important,” Nix said. “Because you’re just trying to make yourself better, you’re trying to improve each and every day. And no matter what day it is, all of us are trying our hardest to have the best day. We’re trying to go out there and get as many reps as we can, and to grow in those reps and to become better. As a group, we’ve all done a good job of challenging each other. Competition brings out the best in me specifically. I’ve always been at my best when I’m competing.”

Auburn football: Practice canceled for second day in row

The Tigers hope to return to the practice field on Friday.

COVID-19 has seemingly hit the Auburn football program again.

For the second straight day, the Tigers canceled practice as, per 247Sports, “a source close to the program said ‘several’ players were positive in the last round of COVID-19 tests.”

While the number of players that have tested positive for the virus hasn’t been released, it is no surprise as students returned to campus recently. As of right now, the Tigers plan on returning to the practice field on Friday.

Auburn opens the season on Sept. 26 against Kentucky in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn football announces start date for 2020 fall camp

The Tigers will begin training camp in preparation for the 2020 college football season.

Auburn made it official on Saturday: fall camp for the 2020 football season is  set.

Per the press release, the Tigers will begin practice on Monday, August 17 as they prepare to play a 10-game, conference-only schedule starting Sept. 26. The opponents for the season have been announced but when the games will be held have not.

Of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic still controlling this nation, it will be quite a different camp for the players, coaches and everyone involved. Testing will be done on a regular basis to make sure that there is no breakout of the virus and interviews with Gus Malzahn and others will only be held through Zoom.

The Tigers will practice Monday-Thursday before having a day off on Friday, August 21.
