The New York Knicks (3-3) and Atlanta Hawks (3-5) meet Wednesday at State Farm Arena with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Knicks vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Knicks won 2 of 3 last season

The Knicks lost the third game of a 4-game road trip on Monday, 109-97 to the Houston Rockets as a 1.5-point road favorite while the Under (217.5) hit.  G Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 29 points and added 8 assists. Despite C Karl-Anthony Towns grabbing 19 rebounds, the Knicks were outrebounded 50-39.

The Hawks lost for the fifth time in 6 games on Monday night, falling 123-93 to the Boston Celtics. They failed to cover as a 10-point home underdog and the Under (232) cashed. Leading scorer G Trae Young exited in the third quarter with a right rib strain, finishing with just 2 points and 6 assists on 1-for-10 shooting in 23 minutes. F Jalen Johnson stepped up, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Knicks at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 113, Hawks 102

Moneyline

PASS.

As much as I like the Knicks to win this game, I’m not about to bet $275 to win $100 on that happening. I’ll take my bet to the spread and total.

Against the spread

BET KNICKS -6.5 (-115).

I’m leaning toward the Knicks to cover here. New York has covered the spread in 3 of their last 4 games against Atlanta and is 5-1 ATS in their previous 6 road games facing the Hawks.

The Knicks are also 2-1 ATS in their last 3 games, while Atlanta has been tough to trust, sitting at 1-7 ATS and 0-5 ATS at home. If Young can’t play, Atlanta’s offense may struggle again, as they scored just 40 points in the second half against Boston.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-115).

The Knicks’ strong start hit a snag with a 12-point home loss to the Rockets on Monday. Coach Tom Thibodeau had already stretched his starters, with 3 playing over 40 minutes in just the 6th game of the season. The fatigue showed, as the team shot only 38% overall and 39% from 3, with just 3 bench points.

The Hawks have struggled ATS, though their games tend to hit the over (7-1 O/U, 4-1 at home). Young’s rib injury cast further doubt, as Atlanta’s offense faltered against Boston after his exit. Without Young’s 27 points and 11.7 assists per game, Atlanta’s chances to hit 100 points look slim. The under seems the safer call here.

Atlanta snapped a 4-game losing streak on Sunday with a 126-111 win over the New Orleans Pelicans while covering as a 1-point road favorite. F Jalen Johnson scored a team-high 29 points while G Trae Young had a double-double (23 points, 12 assists).

Celtics at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 129, Hawks 116

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on Boston (-500) to win.

Against the spread

LEAN CELTICS -10.5 (-110).

The Hawks are just 1-6 ATS including 0-4 ATS while playing as underdogs. Two of their 4 losses have come by 13 or more points. The Celtics are 4-3 ATS, including 3-2 ATS when playing as 9-point-or-more favorites.

Over/Under

BET OVER 233.5 (-115).

While 233.5 is a higher-than-average total, the Hawks have hit the Over in all 7 games this season while the Celtics have hit the Over in 4 of 7 games. Boston has scored 119 or more points 6 times, including 132 twice while allowing 108 points or more in 5 of its 7 games. Atlanta has scored 115 or more in each of its last 4 games while allowing 116 or more points in 6 of its 7.

Season series: First meeting; teams split 2 games in 2023-24

The Hawks beat the Sacramento Kings 123-115 Friday, failing to cover as a 6-point underdog. Atlanta is 0-6 against the spread (ATS), going 0-2 ATS on the road and also 0-2 ATS as an underdog. The Hawks won their first 2 games by a combined 9 points and have lost their last 4, including back-to-back losses to the Washington Wizards. Atlanta is led by G Trae Young, who is averaging 27.7 points per game (PPG).

The Pelicans started off their season hot, beating the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers. They lost the next 3, but are coming off a 125-118 victory over the Indiana Pacers Friday, closing as a 4.5-point home underdog. New Orleans has played just twice at home (2-0 ATS). It is 2-4 ATS on the season and 1-3 ATS as a favorite. The Pelicans are led by F Brandon Ingram, who is averaging 23 PPG.

Hawks at Pelicans picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 123, Hawks 114

Moneyline

PASS.

Unfortunately, there’s just no value here. The Pelicans, despite being banged up, are the better side and should come out on top. The Hawks have played too poorly on the road to consider here.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS -5.5 (-105).

Simply put, the Pelicans have rewarded bettors at home, and the Hawks haven’t rewarded bettors at all. New Orleans is 2-0 ATS at home and has won both of those games by at least 7 points. The Pelicans offense has also erupted in their 2 home games, averaging 124 PPG.

Against a Hawks defense that is undersized and overall a weak unit, New Orleans should be able to shoot efficiently. The Hawks are 0-2 ATS on the road and have struggled defensively, allowing 116 or more points in every game and at least 128 in both road matches.

Considering those trends, back PELICANS +5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 229.5 (-115).

Both teams have consistently hit the Over this season, and the Hawks, while their defense has been awful, have thrived offensively. Atlanta, behind Young, has scored at least 115 points in 3 straight games and has topped that total in 5 of 6. It is 6-0 O/U this season.

The Pelicans are 4-2 O/U and have scored more than 120 points in both home games. It has allowed at least 111 points in 4 of 6 games. Considering those trends, back OVER 229.5 (-115).

The Atlanta Hawks (2-3) welcome the Sacramento Kings (2-2) to State Farm Arena Friday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Kings vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Kings won both meetings last season

The Kings beat the Utah Jazz 113-96 Tuesday, closing as a 6.5-point favorite. They have won 2 in a row going 1-0-1 against the spread (ATS). Sacramento opened the season with 2 straight losses/non-covers, but has followed those up with 2 double-digit wins. C Domantas Sabonis is averaging 24.3 points per game (PPG) and shooting 67.9% from the field.

The Hawks opened the season with 2 straight wins over the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets, but have lost 3 straight since. They lost to the Washington Wizards 133-120 on the road Wednesday, failing to cover as a 5.5-point favorite. Atlanta has been favored in 4 games, but is 0-5 ATS on the season. Kings at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 124, Hawks 116

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to look at the moneyline here.

The Kings (-275) are unplayable given how expensive they are, and the Hawks (+220) have yet to show they can defend at any level and aren’t worthy of a play as a home underdog.

Against the spread

BET KINGS -6.5 (-110).

While the Hawks are 2-3, they rank 25th in the NBA in net rating, and the Kings are 2-2 yet sitting 5th in net rating. The Hawks are playing worse than their record suggests while the Kings are playing better and have dominated teams as of late, beating the Utah Jazz by 17 and Portland Trail Blazers by 13 in their last 2 games.

The Hawks have folded over the last 3 games, losing to the Wizards (a team that is expected to be among the worst in the Eastern Conference) in back-to-back games with 1 being at home. Atlanta is 2-1 at home and 0-3 ATS.

Considering the recent trends for both teams, back KINGS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 239.5 (-110).

There’s no reason to think this game won’t be played at a hectic and torrid pace. The Hawks like to push the ball and rank 3rd in pace while the Kings sit 11th in pace. Atlanta has scored at least 119 points in 4 games and has allowed 116 or more points in every game. It has allowed 120-plus points in 4 of 5 and is 5-0 O/U.

The Kings are 2-2 O/U and have scored at least 111 points in all 4 games. Considering the trends for the home side and each team’s willingness to push the pace and get in transition, expect points in abundance and back OVER 239.5 (-110).

Prediction

Hawks 123, Wizards 115

Atlanta has lost back-to-back games however it has scored 119 points or more in 3 of its 4 games. Expect Young to pick up more of the slack while leading the Hawks to a convincing road win.

Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Washington Wizards (0-2) and Atlanta Hawks (2-0) meet Sunday at State Farm Arena with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Wizards vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Hawks won 3 of 4 last season

The Wizards fell to 0-2 this season after a 135-116 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. They couldn’t cover as 9.5-point home underdogs, but the game went Over the 227 total. G Bilal Coulibaly led the team with 23 points as all 5 starters scoring in double figures. However, their defense struggled, allowing Cleveland to shoot 53.4% from the field, marking Washington’s second straight double-digit loss at home.

The Hawks took their first defeat of the season on Sunday, losing 128-104 to the Oklahoma City Thunder as 10.5-point underdogs while the Over (230.5) hit. Atlanta struggled with turnovers, giving up the ball 20 times and being blocked 12 times. G Trae Young led the team with 24 points, but his 10 turnovers hampered the Hawks’ efforts, making it difficult for them to keep up with the Thunder’s pace.

Wizards at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 119, Wizards 115

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hawks (-275) will lick their wounds and get a nice bounce back victory at home on Monday night, but it won’t come easy. I’m going to take my wager to the spread because the Wizards getting points is very tempting.

Against the spread

BET WIZARDS +7.5 (-115).

The Hawks and Wizards are a combined 0-5 ATS this season, one of them is bound to break the trend. The Wizards appear to be the smarter pick in this spot. Atlanta comes off a tough loss in Oklahoma City on Sunday and returns home to face Washington on Monday. The Wizards are more rested, having last played on Saturday. Though the Hawks won 3 of  4 matchups last season, Washington covered the spread in 3 of those 4 games. The quick turnaround could favor Washington covering again.

Over/Under

PASS.

I don’t have a strong read on this game’s total. The Over/Under is split 3-3 in their last 6 matchups, making it tough to predict. The Wizards are 1-1 against the total this season, while the Hawks have gone over in all 3 of their games. However, with Atlanta playing on back-to-back nights, fatigue could be a factor. For that reason, I’m staying away from betting on the total in this matchup.

Season series: First meeting; teams split 2 meetings last season with home team winning

The Hawks beat the Brooklyn Nets 120-116 to open the season Wednesday, but failed to cover as a 7.5-point home favorite. They beat the Charlotte Hornets 125-120 Friday, but again failed to cover as a 5.5-point home favorite. Atlanta plays its first road game led by scorching-hot G Trae Young, who is averaging 34 points and 11 assists through 2 games.

The Thunder beat the Chicago Bulls 114-95 on the road Saturday, covering as a 9.5-point road favorite. They are 2-0 ATS after winning their first game  102-87 over the Denver Nuggets as a 2-point underdog. Oklahoma City is led by MVP candidate G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5 assists per game.

Hawks at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 118, Hawks 106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Thunder are the far superior side, and they should come out on top. At -450, they aren’t worthy of any size play here.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -9.5 (-105).

The Thunder are on a roll, and it hasn’t just been offensively. They have been among the most efficient defenses in the NBA through the first few games. Oklahoma City’s opponents are averaging just 91 points per game, and both the Bulls and Nuggets shot under 40% from the field. The Thunder have the potency on both sides of the court and are 2-0 ATS against 2 teams who will likely contend for a playoff spot.

For the Hawks, while they are 2-0 straight up, but are 0-2 ATS and have single-digit wins against a few of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Expect them to struggle against a championship-contending team like Oklahoma City. Back THUNDER -9.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 231.5 (-105).

The Thunder’s defense has been too consistent in the first few games to bet against here. They are 0-2 O/U and have held opponents to inefficient shooting.

While the Hawks could change that and are averaging 122.5 PPG, they haven’t proven they can put up those types of numbers against strong defenses, and they are led by Young, who has been inefficient at times throughout his career. Atlanta is 2-0 O/U.

Take the Thunder’s defense to prevail as they play their first home game and will likely bring the energy to that side of the court. Back UNDER 231.5 (-105).

The Charlotte Hornets (1-0) and Atlanta Hawks (1-0) meet Friday at State Farm Arena with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Hornets vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Charlotte won 3-1 last season

The Hornets started their season with a bang, defeating the Houston Rockets 110-105 as 8-point road underdogs Wednesday as the Under (230) hit.

G LaMelo Ball led the way for Charlotte with a standout performance, racking up 34 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds. G Tre Mann provided a spark off the bench, contributing 24 points and 6 rebounds. With their impressive backcourt play, the Hornets set a strong tone for the rest of the season.

The Hawks started their season with a 120-116 win over the Brooklyn Nets at home Wednesday. Atlanta failed to cover as a 7-point favorite, and the Over (224) cashed.

G Trae Young led the Hawks with a stellar performance, recording 30 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds. He received significant support from F Onyeka Okongwu, who added 28 points while shooting an impressive 11-of-12 from the field. The strong offensive showing helped Atlanta secure a victory in its season opener.

Hornets at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 112, Hawks 108

Moneyline

BET HORNETS (+170).

Backing the Hornets on the moneyline against the Hawks is a great value play in what should be a closer game than the spread suggests. Despite being an underdog, Charlotte has had the upper hand in recent matchups, winning and covering 5 of the last 6 meetings, including 2 of the last 3 in Atlanta. Coming off an impressive road win as bigger underdogs, the Hornets have momentum on their side.

This matchup also features a showdown between 2 top-tier point guards in Ball and Young. Charlotte’s ability to shoot from deep — hitting 38.5% from 3-point range in its opener — could be a deciding factor, especially with the Hawks missing Bogdanovic, who was a key offensive piece last season. Without Bogdanovic’s scoring and outside shooting, the Hawks may struggle to keep pace. With favorable odds and a strong recent history, Charlotte has a great chance to pull off the upset.

Against the spread

PASS.

If you’d rather play it safe and take the 5.5 points with the Hornets, that’s fair, but I’d rather get the bigger payday with those plus odds on the moneyline.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 229.5 (-110).

The Under is a smart play with the total set a bit higher than I’d like. A more reasonable number would be in the low 220s, making this an opportunity to take the Under. Charlotte’s offense struggled last season, averaging just 106 points per game, which ranked 3rd-lowest in the league, and it put up just 110 points in its season opener.

The Hornets also play at a slower pace, averaging only 100 possessions per game last season, the 8th-lowest in the NBA. Their preference for a controlled tempo could help keep scoring in check against the Hawks. Recent history between these teams suggests a tight contest as well, with the total split 2-2 over the last 4 head-to-head matchups. With Charlotte’s deliberate style of play and limited offensive firepower, the Under is the better bet for this matchup.

Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks open their seasons Wednesday. Tip-off from State Farm Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Nets vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Nets won 3-1 last season

After finishing 32-50 last season, the Nets shipped former All-Defensive First Team wing Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in exchange for F Bojan Bogdanovic, G Shake Milton and 5 future 1st-round picks. Brooklyn is expected to take another step back this season, with its regular-season wins total set at 19.5 games at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Atlanta (36-46 in 2023-24) had a busy offseason. It drafted F Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick, then traded 1-time All-Star Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans for G Dyson Daniels, F Larry Nance Jr., C Cody Zeller and 2 future 1st-rounders. The moves aren’t expected to change much, though, as Atlanta is projected to win 36.5 games this season.

Nets at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 120, Nets 110

Moneyline

It’s unlikely that the Hawks (-275) will lose a 4th straight meeting to the Nets. However, this line has too much vig to recommend the lay price.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

The Nets have covered 6 straight meetings between these teams, but none of that matters now that Bridges is no longer with Brooklyn. Bridges averaged 32.7 points per game across the 6 Brooklyn covers, and Hawks G Trae Young didn’t even play in the last 2 meetings.

The Nets are projected to be much worse than last season, while the Hawks may potentially get better now that Young and Murray don’t have to fight over the ball.

BET HAWKS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Atlanta was the best Over bet in the NBA last season, going 47-35-1 O/U (57.3%). What has changed since then? The Hawks have committed to their undersized guard Young, and they shipped off Murray, who is among the best defensive guards in the league.

BET OVER 222.5 (-110).

Summer League: New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The New York Knicks battle the Atlanta Hawks Saturday at the 2024 NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Tip from Cox Pavilion is set for 6 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Knicks vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Knicks have played 4 Las Vegas Summer League games so far and are 2-2 in those performances. Their last 2 games have had thrilling endings, beating the Sacramento Kings 106-105 Wednesday and the Detroit Pistons 91-90 Friday. New York has a 4-point loss to the Charlotte Hornets and 7-point loss to the Brooklyn Nets on its resume as well. Second-round pick G Tyler Kolek has notched 15 assists in the last 2 games combined.

The Hawks, who selected F Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, have yet to win in the event. They lost to the Wizards by 6, Spurs by 3, Lakers by 1, and most recently Bulls by 4. Risacher, who has had the spotlight on him, is averaging 14.5 points per game and shooting 39.3% from the field. G Keaton Wallace led the team in scoring against the Bulls, dropping 22 with 5 triples.

Knicks at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 91, Hawks 89

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hawks have lost all 4 games, but they have kept battles close and are worthy of a play here. The better value is the on spread, though. The Knicks have 2 wins in 4 games, both of which were 1-point victories.

Against the spread

BET HAWKS +2.5 (-110).

The Knicks defense has been awful in the summer league. Although their offense is efficient, they have allowed at least 90 in every game. Their last 2 games have finished within 1-point and 3 of their 4 games have ended within 4.

The Hawks have had all 4 losses within 6 points, and their last 3 were within 4 points. They hang close with teams and even pushed the Bulls to overtime in their last battle despite Chicago shooting 42.9% from deep.

Given the Knicks’ lacking defense and their play to the level of the competition, back HAWKS +2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 177.5 (-110).

The Knicks opponents have feasted during the summer league, scoring 90, 94, 92 and 105. New York has scored at least 90 itself in 3 of 4 games. It ranks 3rd in field goal percentage at 47.3%, so it has one of the most efficient offenses.

The Hawks rank 8th in 3-point percentage at 33.3% and should be able to get open looks against a lacking New York defense. Atlanta has scored at least 86 in 3 of 4 games and dropped 99 in its last battle.

Given the trends for both teams, back OVER 177.5 (-110).
